Students caught vaping in school surau
A viral video clip showing four school students caught vaping at the school's surau area has received heavy criticism by the netizens.
In response to the incident,SMK Darul Ehsan, Batu Caves has since taken to its Facebook page, stating that it will initiate disciplinary measures against the students involved.
'The surau is a sacred place for worship and must be respected by all members of the school community.
'This act not only defiles the sanctity of the house of Allah but also violates school regulations and relevant law,' it said.
The school management also said that it will take appropriate disciplinary action against the students involved, in accordance with established guidelines.
The management added that it will also enhance monitoring efforts and conduct awareness programs to ensure such incidents do not recur.
In the one-minute 21 seconds clip, a group of four students in the school's purple sportswear were seen sharing an e-cigarette, passing it among them and even tried making smoke rings with vape.
In March, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek warned that students who found vaping repeatedly in school will either get suspended for 14 days or even expelled.
She said the disciplinary action reflects the firm stance taken by the ministry to curb the issue of vape use in schools, as stipulated in Circular Letter Number 17 of 2015, which prohibits the use of electronic cigarettes or vape on school premises.

Teacher suspended over alleged affair
Education minister Fadhlina Sidek said her ministry took such matters seriously, whether or not they were shared on social media. PETALING JAYA : A secondary school teacher in a southern state has been suspended from teaching following allegations that she had an affair, education minister Fadhlina Sidek said today. She said her ministry is currently conducting an internal investigation, as the matter involved teacher integrity and conduct, Sinar Harian reported. However, Fadhlina said the teacher is still working pending the investigation. 'She has only been suspended from her teaching duties. We need her to help out in the investigation process,' she was quoted as saying. Fadhlina said her ministry took such matters seriously, whether or not they were shared on social media. 'We are responsible for ensuring that all our teachers comply with standards of integrity and teachers' ethics set by the ministry,' she said. Fadhlina reminded all teachers to watch their conduct both within and outside the school. The case has gone viral on social media, with people sharing video clips of the man's wife confronting the teacher. Also shared were screenshots of lewd conversations on WhatsApp, said to be between the cheating pair.

Cops launch probe into alleged public shaming of primary schoolgirl

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Police have launched an investigation into a viral video showing a primary schoolgirl allegedly being scolded and humiliated by a teacher at her school canteen in Kajang. Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the video, which began circulating on Instagram yesterday, was posted by a social media user and that it had triggered public concern. 'A 40-year-old female teacher from a school in Kajang lodged a police report the same day, denying involvement in the incident and requesting a full investigation to establish the facts,' he said in a statement today. No reports have been lodged by the girl's parents or the alleged victim so far. Police are investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a fine of up to RM50,000, a prison sentence of up to 20 years, or both, upon conviction. The case is also being probed under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for misuse of network facilities. Education minister Fadhlina Sidek was reported to have said yesterday that her ministry would investigate the incident, which she described as regrettable, especially since a recording of it had been widely shared, affecting the community. The video, in which the pupil was allegedly forced to confess to things she had not done, was sent to her mother, who attempted to take the teacher to task on WhatsApp. Fadhlina said she had asked education director-general Azman Adnan to look into the matter as well, as it involved teachers' integrity and ethics.
