Dolphins' Bradley Chubb 'not taking anything for granted' in return
Dolphins linebacker Bradley Chubb is gearing up to make his long-awaited return to the field since suffering a torn ACL in Week 17 of the 2023 season which forced him to miss all of last year.
The timing of Chubb's injury was even more significant considering he was putting together his best statistical season since his rookie year. Chubb totaled career bests with 73 tackles and six forced fumbles along with 11 sacks (just one short of his career best of 12).
On Wednesday, Chubb expressed gratitude in returning to being a leader on the field wearing the orange jersey.
'It was cool, man. It was dope, just to see all the work come to light. Still got a long way to go in terms of perfecting my craft but working towards it each and every day. Putting my head down, getting the work in and to see that get acknowledged was dope,' Chubb said.
It has been a long road to recovery for Chubb. There was some speculation during last season that Chubb could return at some point. But his injury didn't heal fast enough, and the team spent the majority of the season with bleak playoff hopes. So, trying to rush Chubb back didn't make a lot of sense.
There was some doubt as to if Chubb would remain a Dolphin going into this season considering their cap issues. But, Chubb fortunately agreed to a contract restructure and will get a chance to return to his elite play. He will join forces with fellow edge rushers Jaelan Phillips and Chop Robinson. This group will be a tough challenge for any offense next season.
'I'm not taking anything for granted man," said Chubb. "When you're actually just putting in that blood, sweat and tears with the guys, that's how you bond, that's how you connect. So sitting back last year, yeah, I could try to lead from the back, but it just wasn't the same.
"Just being able to be out here, running around and physically getting up on guys, dapping them up like, 'Good job, I'm about to go do the same thing.' That just brings a different energy, a different tone and that's what I tried to do this year, this whole offseason, just let guys know that this is not promised and each and every day you've got to earn it. God is fortunate enough to put us in this position, so we've just got to take advantage of it.'
Chubb is entering his seventh year in the league and third with the Dolphins. He has been a starter since his rookie year and been named to the pro bowl twice.
In his first six years, Chubb has totaled 256 tackles, 45 tackles for loss 39.5 sacks, 92 QB hits, and 13 forced fumbles. His unfortunate injury history has held him back from fully reaching his potential.
Chubb has an excellent chance this season to show the Dolphins and the entire NFL that he is one of the elite edge rushing linebackers in all of football.

Shorthanded attack dooms Revolution, as Cincinnati wins at Gillette to end nine-match unbeaten run

Despite being credited with 74 percent of the possession in the second half, New England (6-5-5, 23 points) managed just five shots after the break, none of which much threatened Cincinnati goalkeeper Roman Celentano. Its two best chances after halftime were a turnaround shot from substitute Maxi Urruti, which screamed past the top corner in the 71st minute, and a stoppage-time free kick from Carles Gil into the top netting. The Revolution were credited with just two shots on target for the match — a 12th-minute rip from Tomás Chancalay set up by Gil and Miller, and a bounding Matt Polster shot soon after halftime right at Celentano. Advertisement Up front, coach Caleb Porter turned to Chancalay and Luis Diaz, whose first MLS start since October 2022 included being dispossessed on a 52nd-minute breakaway without managing at attempt on Celentano. 'Probably the biggest moment that we really need to turn into a goal,' Porter said. Cincinnati's Lukas Engel (left) ran down New England's Luis Diaz in the second half, preventing him from putting a shot on goal. New England Revolution He brought on Urruti as support in the 64th minute, replacing right back Brayan Ceballos, who had picked up a yellow card in the 16th. Lacking another offensive option, however, Porter chose midfielder Jackson Yueill when Chancalay came off in the 80th. 'Honestly, I don't know what more you can do. We subbed on every attacking player we had available,' Porter said. 'We kept throwing the kitchen sink at them. We kept huffing and puffing and we just couldn't blow the house down.' The 80 minutes represented the most game action for the Argentine since returning in April from ACL surgery. Cincinnati (10-5-3, 33 points), which had allowed 10 goals in a four-match winless stretch before Saturday, produced its winner on the counterattack. Veteran Kei Kamara wheeled around New England's Tanner Beason with a deft touch, carrying into the Revolution end. The ball eventually got to Denkey in the penalty area. Blocked by the returning Ceballos, who'd missed a pair of matches with a head injury, Denkey passed across the field to Luca Orellano. Orellano fed a left foot back in front of goal, where Denkey — acquired for a Asked whether the Revolution would be shopping for attacking players when the summer transfer window begins late next month, Porter made clear the team knows what it needs. 'For us to be a contender, you have to have a striker that gets 10-plus goals minimum. We need to find that guy, whether it's here or somewhere else.' New England had eight corners to Cincinnati's three on Saturday, and a 10-9 edge in shots. Aljaz Ivacic was credited with two saves, as well as stopping a pair of close-range deflections off teammates in the opening 10 minutes. The match began a run of three straight in Foxborough for the Revolution, who sit 11th in the Eastern Conference having played a conference-low 16 matches. Not everyone is a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers' new quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.

Not everyone is a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers' new quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. New Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been the most talked about player in the NFL for the past several months. Advertisement But not all of that talk has been good talk. In a recent episode of Get Up, former Miami Dolphins and New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum gave a very harsh prediction about the veteran quarterback, and there may be some bad blood between the two. "I'll make a bold prediction... I think Aaron Rodgers is gonna be irrelevant by Thanksgiving," Tannenbaum said. "Irrelevant. A non-playoff team, a 42-year-old quarterback who's going off into the sunset." Tannenbaum might be letting his bias show, as Rodgers beat his Jets in the regular season a few times when was with the Green Bay Packers, and the Steelers beat them in the AFC Championship game back in 2010. Advertisement And way behind the curtain, there is this: Tannenbaum works as an independent consultant now. Guess who he most recently consulted? The same Jets franchise that just dumped Rodgers. So … bias? Maybe. Rodgers is coming off of debatably the worst season in his long career so far, as he only finished with 28 touchdowns, and had his third-most interceptions in a season with 11. With that being said, the rest of the Jets did not perform like many thought they would, so he was not the only factor in the team finishing with a very disappointing 5-12 record. Now that he is with the Steelers, he will be playing in a very competitive AFC North, where opposing defenses will be out to get him. The team will be hoping that the 41-year-old quarterback can channel his old self and lead them back to the playoffs for the third straight season. Celtics rival has ‘mutual intrigue' with sitting head coach (report)

When the Knicks fired coach Tom Thibodeau after their best playoff run in 25 years, it was clear New York was looking to take the next step toward competing for a title. While there's no clear frontrunner for the job, a current sitting head coach has reportedly shown some interest in the opening. Per ESPN's Brian Windhorst, there's 'mutual intrigue' between the Knicks and Mavericks coach Jason Kidd. Now, that doesn't mean New York will get a deal done. The Knicks will also have to request to interview Kidd, which the Mavs could deny. So there are still moving parts as the Knicks look for their next head coach. Advertisement The Mavs are in an interesting spot in the wake of the stunning Luka Doncic trade. They have the No. 1 pick and a chance to draft Cooper Flagg, along with stars like Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving on the roster. But that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be competing for a championship next season as Irving is also coming off a torn ACL. Kidd also reportedly didn't enjoy being the spokesperson for the Mavs after the Doncic trade. The Hall of Fame guard just finished his fourth season in Dallas which includes an appearance in the 2024 NBA Finals. If Kidd ends up in New York, it could be after he's traded, which has happened a handful of times in league history. Regardless, there's naturally a lot of rumors when it comes to the Knicks job. They have a win-now roster, though that also means a lot of pressure. But even though Kidd has been mentioned in rumors, New York will still have to jump through some hoops to hire him if he's available. More Celtics content Read the original article on MassLive.
