Dolphins' Bradley Chubb's Contract Named One of NFL's Worst

Dolphins' Bradley Chubb's Contract Named One of NFL's Worst originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Miami Dolphins have made a habit of giving players big contracts or extensions in recent years. That list includes players like Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Bradley Chubb, Jalen Ramsey, and Jaylen Waddle, who all signed their deals since 2022. Advertisement Now, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox named Chubb's contract one of the worst in the NFL as the 2025 season draws closer. The former Pro Bowl pass-rusher is on a three-year contract worth up to $54.5 million. "To be fair, this contract was a lot worse before Bradley Chubb agreed to take less money on a revised deal in March," Knox said. That initial extension Chubb signed was for $110 million over five years back in 2022 after he was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Dolphins. "That was a lot of money to give a pass-rusher with 26 sacks and one Pro Bowl on his resume. It was probably a bad deal, given Chubb's significant injury history—which may have foreshadowed issues in Miami," Knox wrote. Miami Dolphins linebacker Bradley Chubb (2) looks during training camp at Baptist Health Training Navarro-Imagn Images Knox noted Chubb's torn ACL in 2019 and season-ending ankle surgery in 2022. But the big injury that has sidelined him since New Year's Eve of 2023 was the torn ACL, meniscus, and patellar tendon that he suffered. Advertisement Chubb had 11 sacks that year, playing in 16 games. It was the only season he had double-digit sacks and the only season he played as many as 16 games since his rookie year in 2018. "The Dolphins have still guaranteed $33.5 million over the next three years to a soon-to-be 29-year-old second-tier pass-rusher," Knox said. "For a franchise that may be closer to a reset than a deep playoff run, that's a bad deal." Miami Dolphins' Bradley Chubb feels at least 90 percent in return

MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb took a pay cut of $9.23 million in 2025, reducing his salary cap number by $16.3 million, according to Over The Cap, to stay with the team. At the start of organized team activities, Chubb explained why he accepted the revision. Advertisement "This is a what have you done for me now business," Chubb said. "Yeah, I had a good year in 2023. But at the end of the day, man, I didn't play a lick of football last year. I knew this is the team I wanted to be with. I knew the guys, the leadership, were the guys I wanted to be around and to push me at the end of the day. And I know what we can do here in Miami. A lot of doubters this offseason, a lot of talk. I'm excited to just be here and be able to show out." Chubb, 28, had 11 sacks in 16 games in 2023. But he missed all of last season following a serious knee injury. Chubb could have returned at the end of last season, but Miami played it safe. "It was one of those things that weighed on me early in the offseason, like, man, would I be able to go out there and do it all again?" Chubb said. "I left some on the table in that aspect. But at the end of the day, I had to make sure I was 100% right. And that allowed me to get 100% right and allowed me to attack the offseason. I'm glad I made a decision to get all the way right." Miami Dolphins linebacker Bradley Chubb (2) sacks New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (2) during the first half of an NFL game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Dec. 17, 2023. Chubb expects to be 100 percent for the season opener and estimates his health between 90 and 99 percent at the moment. He can earn back some salary through incentives. Advertisement "I would say that last 10% is just game reps, actual game reps, actual tackling just to see where I'm at in that aspect," Chubb said. "But that's gonna come when it comes and for right now I'm good where I'm at." Can Bradley Chubb-Jaelan Phillips-Chop Robinson wreck games for Dolphins? The combination of Chubb-Jaelan Phillips-Chop Robinson could be deadly, especially if Chubb and Phillips round back into form after knee injuries ended their 2024 seasons. Miami needs them to create a lot of pressure, especially with a less experienced secondary devoid of players like Jevon Holland and soon-to-be-dealt Jalen Ramsey. Advertisement "In the outside linebacker room, we call ourselves the big dogs," Chubb said. "We want to be the ones to change the game. We wanna be the ones that if we need to play, we're gonna be the ones to do it. So yes, we got some inexperienced guys in the back end, but we all know who we are in that room. Not because we don't believe in this guy, but because we want to walk the walk and talk the talk. So it's added pressure to us, but we know they're gonna handle their job because we're gonna handle ours." With veterans like Calais Campbell moving on, the Dolphins need a veteran like Chubb - a two-time Pro Bowler - to be a key team leader in 2025. "Being around last year and trying to lead from the background is one thing," Chubb said. "But when you actually going through the fire with guys, when you actually putting the blood, the sweat and the tears in with the guys, it's a little different. You can lead from out front, not in the background." Bradley Chubb's return to Dolphins practice field has excitement level at '10 out of 10'

Bradley Chubb's return to Dolphins practice field has excitement level at '10 out of 10' Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Bradley Chubb is eager to return to action. After missing all of 2024 due to a knee injury suffered at the end of the 2023 season, Chubb told reporters Wednesday that his excitement level is, '10 out of 10. 10 out of 10, man.' 'Being around last year and trying to lead from the background is one thing, but when you're actually going through the fire with guys and you're actually putting the blood, the sweat and the tears in with the guys, it's a little different," Chubb said. While Chubb is back on the practice field at organized team activities (OTAs) along with Jaelan Phillips, neither are participating fully at this point. "Someday, depends on what day you're out there, you'll probably see one, if not both," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said. "There will be a day or two where we're going to have to back off that, but very happy with where they're at and know that they're as excited as ever." But Chubb says he doesn't expect to be limited at all when training camp begins in July 'I feel good. I'm moving along good and that's the plan, to be 100 percent," Chubb said. Like I said, be out there as much as I can and continue to lead from out front. "I'd say I'm about 95-99 percent in terms of just feeling good, feeling better and feeling like myself. For sure high 90s – I would say that last 10 percent is just game reps. Actual game reps, actual tackling just to see where I'm at in that aspect, but that's going to come when it comes and for right now, I'm good where I'm at.' Once Chubb returns officially, he will finally get a chance to play alongside 2024 first-round pick Chop Robinson. 'Man, I've been smiling ear to ear every time I get a chance to look at the tape,' Chubb said. 'From the jump that Chop (Robinson) has made over his growth – guys get 6.0 sacks and get in the Defensive Rookie of the Year [conversations] and they take the foot off the gas, but Chop has put pedal to the metal.' He'll also be reunited with Phillips, who suffered a serious knee injury of his own last season. "To see 'JP' attacking his rehab as hard as he has – just the back-to-back injuries he dealt with and his mindset is still, 'I'm still the best out here. I'm still going to do this and do that,'" Chubb said. "So I know that if I've got those two guys in my corner, I'm going to be good for life. 'We were in [rehab] a lot, man, getting after it, pushing each other, keeping each other's spirits up. At the end of the day, we all know we're hard workers, but it's just about that mental and making sure that mental is right each and every day to attack the day. That's what we did for each other, so it was good.' Prior to his 2023 injury, Chubb had 11 sacks and six forced fumbles along with 11 tackles for loss and 22 quarterback hits. Can he be just as effective in 2025? 'I don't want to put any numbers on it," Chubb said. "I just know that if we all go out there and do what we know we're capable of, the sky is the limit. We have a lot of great talent, a lot of hard-working men that go in each and every day.'

Denver Broncos order of picks in 2025 NFL draft

Fans will be focused on NFL free agency this week, but after the signings slow down, attention will turn toward the 2025 NFL draft next month. The Denver Broncos currently hold seven draft picks, including their original selections in the first four rounds. They are set to select 20th overall in the first round after finishing last season with a 10-7 record and getting knocked out of the playoffs in the Wild Card round. Denver does not hold a fifth-round pick after trading that pick and pass rusher Bradley Chubb to the Miami Dolphins in 2022 in exchange for running back Chase Edmonds and first- and fourth-round draft picks. (The Broncos later used that first-round pick to acquire coach Sean Payton in 2023.) Denver also does not hold a seventh-round pick after trading that selection and tight end Albert Okwuegbunam to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023 in exchange for a sixth-round pick. The Broncos have their own picks in the first four rounds for the first time since the Russell Wilson trade, and they hold three picks in the sixth round following the Baron Browning trade last season.
