Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Kevin Riley
A native of the Tuscaloosa area, Riley is coming off a true freshman season a year ago in which he did not see much action for the Crimson Tide.
However, Riley came to Tuscaloosa as one of the highest-rated running backs in his recruiting class, and is a player who is certainly capable of emerging this season to potentially become a key contributor of Alabama's running back room.

When taking a look at Riley's potential impact this season, it is currently an unknown surrounding what the former four-star prospect's role might be.
As to why, that is because Alabama's running back room returns two big names in starter Jam Miller and Richard Young, while also having added an experienced transfer in Dre Washington. However, Riley could also potentially emerge in that group as well, as the redshirt freshman could make an impact in multiple different ways from the running back position.
Overall, expect Riley to improve on his season totals from a year ago, and to be a backup option at running back who could potentially emerge later in the season.

Browns QB Kenny Pickett reportedly suffers hamstring injury after appearing to take early lead in position battle
Cleveland Browns quarterback Kenny Pickett went down with a hamstring injury on Saturday afternoon in training camp. Specifics of his injury or the severity of it are not yet known, though Pickett is expected to be re-evaluated again later this week, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Though it's still early in the position battle, it's been Pickett that has impressed so far. He's taken a bulk of the first-team reps early on, and took the final snaps at practice on Saturday. He threw a touchdown pass on that play, too, according to ESPN. Flacco and Gabriel, however, have rotated in with him throughout the week. Sanders has yet to receive first-team reps. "His first two days have been stellar," Browns QBs coach Bill Musgrave said of Pickett earlier this week, via ESPN. "He had one throw, he was late yesterday, resulting in an interception, which is OK. We don't want interceptions, but at times we learn from when we stub our toes more than we have our triumphs. But he's had his share of triumphs these last two days, especially throwing on the run. Incredibly accurate for just jumping back into camp after us being off a number of weeks this summer." There are any number of ways the Browns can end up going at quarterback. Flacco is a proven winner throughout his career, but he's entering his 18th season in the league at 40 years old this fall. Gabriel and Sanders are unproven, but were great prospects coming out of college. And Pickett has been a starter in the league, too, though he's now with his third team in four seasons looking to finally find true success after struggling early on in his career. Time will tell who Musgrave and the Browns end up going with for their season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 7. But if Pickett's hamstring injury lingers, like they often can, the early advantage he's seemingly picked up in the race may disappear quickly in training camp.

There was plenty of refereeing controversy in the highly anticipated MLS showdown between FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami Saturday evening. Miami felt aggrieved over not being awarded a penalty in the second-half when Fafà Picault was taken down in the box. Yet the visitors from Cincinnati were equally dismayed when a stoppage-time Miles Robinson game-winning goal was disallowed for what some perceive to be a soft foul on Noah Allen. Both sets of players remonstrated with the referee after the match, with plenty of fans online making the case that Cincinnati should have been awarded the dramatic game-winning goal. After the match in South Florida Saturday evening, PRO — the MLS referees organization — issued a response to reporters backing up their decision to rule out the goal. "The referee observed a foul committed by #12 Miles Robinson of FC Cincinnati against #32 Noah Allen of Inter Miami, making clear contact with the face," the statement read. "The referee delayed the whistle the allow the opportunity for VAR to review for a possible goal. After a VAR check, the referee's decision was confirmed." Cincinnati head coach Pat Noonan remained level-headed in his response after the goalless draw, but nonetheless confirmed that he believed the goal should have stood. A win would have seen Cincinnati remain in first place in the Eastern Conference and the Supporters' Shield race.
