Peter Andre was 'very strict' about what his daughter Princess could include in her TV series

Daily Mirror19 hours ago
Peter Andre has spoken out about The Princess Diaries, the ITV series which sees his daughter Princess foray into the television world - and open up about her family
Peter Andre insists he was "very strict" about his daughter Princess could feature in her new ITV reality show.

Speaking for the first time about the teenage's foray into the TV world, Peter, 52, admitted he was wary of letting Princess appear on TV before she "got to an age where she could do it herself". Yet now, her programme on ITV2, The Princess Diaries, has been praised since it began this summer.

In it, Princess, 18, opens up about her "chaotic" childhood as the daughter of the Mysterious Girl hitmaker, and his ex Katie Price. The young influencer told this week how Katie's "Mucky Mansion" was a "really scary" place in which to live.

But Peter has insisted he made sure his daughter was ready to embark on the journey, and face the trials and tribulations he says the showbiz industry brings. The father of five said: "I was very strict about what she wasn't allowed to, you know, I didn't want didn't really want her doing a lot of stuff before she got to the age that she can do it herself."
After Peter and Katie split, Princess grew up in the "Mucky Mansion," a sprawling pile in Sussex which Katie sold at the end of 2024, money for which she has reportedly used to pay off debt. Princess has spoken candidly about her experiences in the house, which she described as "really scary".
And Peter, born in Harrow, northwest London, reflected on being a "strict" parent when Princess grew up. The star told Daily Mail: "I just wanted to be safe and, you know, you try and keep the innocence as long as you can with them, and then, you just got to realise that they've got to live life.
"I could have been considered a bit of a strict dad, but I think I'm all right now. I'm, I'm chilled out a lot more now... This is the hard bit, because I have to be honest, trying to cut that umbilical cord at 18, some people let go [more easily]."
The singer and songwriter praised Princess, describing his daughter as "a really sweet person" whom he hopes will become "her own little true gem".
Speaking ahead of his new Channel 5 show, The Sunshine Murders, Peter said he has had to "let go of the reins" as Princess turned 18 in June. Peter's role in the programme is his first post in a TV drama, following previous screen work in lightweight showbusiness appearances. Peter plays a Greek pathologist, and stars alongside the likes of Stephanie Beacham and Nick Moran.

Celebs Go Dating chaos as two stars break down in tears over painful romantic past

It was an emotional night for the celebrities in the Celebs Go Dating agency as they arrived back in London - with two breaking down in tears as they opened to the agents The tears were flowing in tonight's Celebs Go Dating, as both Olivia Hawkins and Sam Prince broke down in tears during their deep dive with the agents. ‌ It's been an emotional couple of episodes for Love Island star Olivia, who had an instant connection with fellow client, Too Hot To Handle 's Louis Russell. The two became even closer earlier this week, as they shared a kiss but Liv was left in tears last night when it was revealed Louis had kissed his date on the same night. ‌ Catching up with the agents, the star, who rose to fame on the ITV2 dating show in 2023, said she was feeling "a mixture of emotions." ‌ "It's a trigger of people I've dated from the past," she said in tears. "I've always wanted that instant connection with someone and I really feel that with him, and I know it's so early but I don't think it's the right situation for me." Liv then revealed she'd never been in relationships, but had one three year situationship, and another two year one. Speaking on her past situation, Liv found out the man she was seeing had a partner - and was blocked when she confronted him. "But I just kept going back," she said in tears. "I just really wanted to change him and I lost myself a bit." Elsewhere, we saw a more vulnerable side to Sam Prince, as he broke down in front of agents Anna Williamson and Dr Tara. ‌ The Made in Chelsea star was a late addition to the agency, but he's already had his fair share of drama. The star was left fuming, when he was sent on a date with Annie, who he said wasn't his type. The next day, Annie 'roasted' Sam at the brunch, saying he was "nasty" and rated the date a 2/10. Sam was left upset by the comments, but admitted to the agents that he was "inauthentic" during his first date, as he didn't feel a connection. Opening up further, the 28-year-old said: "As much as I have this persona where people watch me on TV and think I don't give a f**k, I give more of a f**k then ever and I'm very sensitive. ‌ "When I'm in love with someone, I'm so in love. Sometimes I feel like I'm too in love. I rely on that person for everything, and that's where I think I've gone wrong." Sam then began to explain how he gives so much to relationships, that he ends up feeling "resentful". Later on, the agents delved further into Sam's childhood, leading him to break down in tears. Although the star said he had an amazing upbringing, he said he looks for the close bond he didn't have with his parents in relationships. Breaking down in tears, Sam he 'never felt like he was enough' for his parents, as agent Anna went over to the sofa to give him a hug. Anna then told the star he used his "toxic love rat mask" as a coping strategy - but will Sam be able to let his guard down while in the agency?

The Fortune Hotel Season 2: release schedule, eliminations and where to watch

ITV competition show The Fortune Hotel is in full season 2 swing, with 11 pairs of contestants battling it out to find a briefcase stuffed with a £250,000 prize. Hot off the heels of BBC show The Traitors, in eight episodes players must work out which pair has the winning briefcase, and the goal is to end up with it at the end of the show. Daily challenges decide what order players can either keep or swap their briefcases, with the quarter of a mill secretly changing hands throughout the series. Eight briefcases are empty, while the ninth has an 'early checkout card' – which eliminates players landed with it at the end of each episode. Presenter Stephen Mangan told Metro how the show can be pretty savage, as winning requires contestants to lie and cheat. 'It's really difficult to brutally pull the plug on another pair and send them home, but you have to do it,' he explained. The series began with 11 pairs of contestants who know each other in some capacity, much like Race Across The World's format. Hoping for a chance to win were best friends Maz and Max; fellow besties Chelsey and Briony; father and son Atholl and John; brothers Jake and Mike; couple Allan and Jacob; couple Nella and Tope, partners Fred and Min; mum and daughter Martina and Briony; friends Gurk and Guv; and dad and daughter James and Yasmine. Players come from all walks of life, with jobs ranging from tech to cleaning, and retirees are also having a stab. Last week's episode ended on a cliffhanger – spoiler ahead – as with the introduction of a second early check-out card, both Fred and Min and Allan and Jacob seemed to be at risk. However host Stephen revealed only one of the pairs would be going home – as voted for by their other contestants, ouch . Tonight revealed Maz and Max sent home Allan and Jacob through tears, leaving them 'gutted'. So far other eliminated contestants include cleaning business owners Briony and Chelsey; retired police officer Atholl and son John from the Scottish borders; Wigan-born brothers Mike and Jake; and salesman Guv and poker player Gurks.
