MoEHE approves 2025–2028 academic calendar for schools

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has approved the new academic calendar for schools in Qatar for the academic years 2025–2026, 2026–2027, and 2027–2028.
The calendar takes into account various educational, cultural, and national considerations, in line with the ministry's vision to develop a flexible and inclusive educational system.
In a statement, the ministry explained that the calendar was adopted following a comprehensive review of influencing factors, including recommendations from the Shura Council regarding alignment between public and private school holidays.
As a result, the mid-year break has been fixed in the last third of December to unify the academic rhythm across the country and provide families with better planning and organization opportunities.
The calendar also includes a revision of the first semester final exams, which will now be held before Qatar National Day. This change responds to proposals from the Ministry of Culture and aims to enable students to actively participate in national events that promote identity and belonging.
To support students' religious and psychological well-being, the ministry ensured that mid-second-semester exams will not coincide with the holy month of Ramadan. This allows students to focus on worship and engage in related social and cultural activities during the sacred month.
In recognition of the religious and social significance of Ramadan, the new academic calendar includes two additional days off for students and school staff during the holy month in the academic years 2025–2026 and 2027–2028, in addition to the official holiday.
The calendar also introduces a 'Test Day, Rest Day' system, applied exclusively to second-semester exams for high school certificate students. This system provides students with ample time to review and regain focus between exams, supporting their mental and emotional readiness to perform at their best during this critical academic stage.
Additionally, a long weekend break has been scheduled after the mid-second-semester exams each year to promote student well-being and educational balance.
The calendar was designed to ensure a fair distribution between the two semesters while covering all curriculum content within the approved number of school days, ensuring a highly efficient educational process.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education emphasised that this calendar reflects its ongoing efforts to develop educational policies that serve the interests of students, teachers, and parents.
It also enhances the effectiveness of Qatar's educational system, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritises human capital development as a cornerstone for building a knowledge-based society.

Doha Municipality demolishes 34 buildings, removes 113 vehicles

In another development for the second week in a row, Doha Municipality, in cooperation with the State Abandoned Vehicles Removal Committee, continued to implement a field campaign to remove abandoned vehicles and equipment that violate the provisions of Public Hygiene Law No. 18 of 2017. The campaign resulted in the identification of 115 abandoned vehicles and the removal of 113 vehicles during the campaign period. Doha Municipality confirmed the continuation of these campaigns with the aim of reducing visual distortion and improving the urban landscape within the city.

Awqaf Ministry lays out ‘Hikaya' program to strengthen Islamic identity in youngsters
QNA Doha The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Dawah and Religious Guidance, launched the summer Dawah program 'Hikaya' devoted to girls and children, which is purposefully directed toward fostering Islamic identity and promoting behavioural and ethical values among youngsters. The program primarily intends to reinforce national Islamic identity and affiliation through staging interactive lectures and workshops overseen by female professionals specialising in religious and pedagogical guidance in a catalysing and secure environment, Awqaf said in a statement on Sunday. 'Hikaya' is laser-focused on narrating the stories of the Prophets and linking them to the doctrine of monotheism, with the intent of strengthening faith in Allah, the Almighty, and trust in Him, in addition to inculcating correct behavioural values in youngsters' hearts to be psychologically ready to navigate the challenges that might potentially arise throughout their forthcoming age periods. Islamic preacher Sheikha Al Jarboui highlighted that the program literally aims to entangle the female participants with the models inspired from Islamic history to be further put out as a source of inspiration that shores up Islamic values and identity. The program is part and parcel of Awqaf's unstinting efforts to invest in summer breaks as a key source to promote values and identity and build a conscious generation confident in its religion and touts its identity.

MoECC launches fish release campaign to boost biodiversity, food security
QNA Doha The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC), represented by the Marine Protection Department, and in collaboration with the Natural Reserves Department, has conducted a high-impact environmental operation in the southern region of Qatar, releasing a new stock of native fish species into the protected waters of the Sealine Reserve located in the south of Qatar.
