J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele clinch U.S. Ryder Cup spots
Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English enter the final week of automatic qualifying on Monday in the Nos. 4-6 spots, respectively, in the U.S. rankings.
The top six after this week's BMW Championship will represent Team USA against Team Europe at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y., from Sept. 26-28. The squad will have six additional captain's picks, with Bradley potentially competing as a playing captain.
Spaun secured his spot with a runner-up finish Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, where he lost to England's Justin Rose in a playoff. The 2025 U.S. Open champion is up to No. 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking after starting the year outside the top 100.
Schauffele, who has made 70 consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour, finished T22 on Sunay to mathematically clinch his spot.
Scheffler finished T3 on Sunday but has long been a lock for the squad with wins at the PGA Championship and the Open Championship this year, along with victories at the Memorial and the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
Russell Henley has 11,904.82 Ryder Cup rankings points, followed by DeChambeau (10,774.98), English (10,439.55) and Justin Thomas (10,347.59).
Players gain one point per $1,000 earned at each non-major PGA TOUR event and gain 1.5 points per $1,000 earned at major championships. The BMW Championship, with a $20 million purse, opens Thursday at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md.
DeChambeau, who competes with LIV Golf, has no chance to earn additional points this week. However, Bradley said last month that there would be a spot on the team for the two-time U.S. Open champion whether he stays in the top six or not.

Another Eagles guard goes down with injury
August 12 - Offensive line insurance policy Kenyon Green is out for multiple weeks with a shoulder injury and could miss the rest of the preseason for the Philadelphia Eagles. With Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson expected to be sidelined while recovering from a knee injury, the 24-year-old Green was a candidate to step into a more significant role before the injury put his preseason in jeopardy, ESPN reported Tuesday. Green, acquired from the Texans in the offseason trade that sent safety CJ Gardner-Johnson to Houston, is viewed as "week-to-week" according to the report. Green, a first-round pick (15th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft, spent nearly six weeks on injured reserve last season due to a shoulder injury and missed the entire 2023 season with a torn labrum in his shoulder. That injury was sustained in the preseason. Dickerson remains optimistic about returning for the Super Bowl champion Eagles' opener on Sept. 4 against the Dallas Cowboys, according to NFL Network. --Field Level Media

BMW Championship 2025 betting tips, free bets and latest golf odds
YOU have to wonder what Rory McIlroy was thinking when he saw the first FedEx Cup play-off event go to a play-off - between two men he had beaten in play-offs early this year! McIlroy triumphed over eventual St Jude Championship winner Justin Rose in sudden death in the Masters, a month after taking down last week's runner-up JJ Spaun, in overtime at The Players. Maybe McIlroy will think he kissed a trick by sitting it last week. But coming in fresh, at the BMW Championship, when you know you have already guaranteed a spot in next week's Tour Championship, could work in his favour. I certainly think the 7-1 generally on offer for McIlroy at Caves Valley in Maryland is far more attractive than the 5-2 or thereabouts on offer for world No 1 Scottie Scheffler. The last time the BMW was held at Caves Valley, in 2021, McIlroy finished fourth on 22 under par - eight shots ahead of Scheffler, who could only manage a share of 22nd. Scheffler is a much better player now, of course. He is undoubtedly the best golfer on the planet, but he is not usually at his best in birdie bonanzas. So Rory gets the nod in the battle for the Big Two. BMW Championship 2025 betting tips Patrick Cantlay won that 2021 BMW, but he was a lot more consistent back then. At the moment, whenever he looks like recapturing the form that took him to third in the world rankings, he throws in a missed cut. That can't happen this week, as all 49 starters - Sepp Straka is missing because of a family problem - are guaranteed four rounds. At around 25-1, it could be worth taking a chance on Cantlay making course knowledge count, especially after he posted a top ten finish at the St Jude - his first since May. Sungjae Im also played well here four years ago to finish a place in front of McIlroy. He needs a good week to hold onto a top 30 spot and make it through to the Tour Championship. At 66-1, he represents decent each way value. Sam Burns, who was eighth here in 2021, is in the same boat as Im, at 24th in the current FedEx rankings, one place above the Korean. A best-priced 40-1 also appeals each way. Rickie Fowler 's form has taken an upturn, and he is also 66-1 in places, while Si Woo Kim shot four rounds in the 60s at the St Jude. He deserves a second look at around 70-1. ********************************************************** LIV Golf Indianapolis 2025 betting tips The LIV circuit moves on to Indianapolis for the second leg of a three week run in the States. Dean Burmester did the business for us in Chicago at 33-1. He has only been cut to 25-1 for that victory, and it could be worth re-investing some of last week's returns. Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm are the only players who can win the season-long LIV individual title, with defending champion Rahm the bookies favourite this week at around 4-1. Too short for me, despite the Spaniard's incredible consistency, which included a play-off defeat to Burmester in Chicago. The third player involved in that shoot-out, Jose Luis Ballester, will be buzzing after doing something noteworthy other than taking a leak in Rae's Creek - something the young Spaniard notoriously did at this year's Masters. Ballester was regarded as one of the most exciting amateur talents to emerge for years before joining LIV a few months ago. At 50-1, and higher, it is worth seeing if that performance last week was more than an early flash in the pan. And the in-form Carlos Ortiz is another man worth having on your side, especially at the 25-1 available in a few places. ********************************************************** DP World Tour betting tips The DP World Tour is still stuck in second gear - at least as far as star power is concerned - after a brief spell in the limelight at the Renaissance Club and Portrush. Local stars Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard dominate the market for the Danish Championship - along with compatriot Rasmus Neergaard -Petersen. But I have been impressed recently with Norway's Kristoffer Reitan - a 20-1 shot - while Dutchman Daan Huizing looked good for three rounds at the Nexo Championship last week. At 250-1, it is worth seeing whether he can keep it going for 72 holes this week. White House UFC cage fight will take place on the South Lawn, Dana White says
'That is going to happen,' he told Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Gay on Monday. President Donald Trump, who has attended a number of UFC fights, said early last month that he would host a bout at the White House to mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. "Every one of our national park battlefields and historic sites are going to have special events in honor of 'America250' and I even think we're going to have a UFC fight," Trump said on July 3 during a speech in Des Moines, Iowa. Trump said at the time that White would organize the event, adding that it's going to be a "championship fight, full fight, like 20,000 to 25,000 people, and we're going to do that as part of '250' also.' Following his new agreement with Paramount, which is set to hand UFC $7.7 billion over seven years, White told The Journal that the event would be broadcast 'probably on CBS.' This comes as UFC's $550 million a year deal with ESPN comes to an end. White, who's a ally of Trump, told The Journal that several players in the media wanted a part in the future of UFC. There was consideration of splitting the franchise across a number of carriers, as the NBA and NFL have done. 'Last minute, these guys came in and said, 'You know what? We don't want to share. We want it all.'' White said of Paramount. 'What I do love about [the deal] is that the product is much more affordable for everybody,' he claimed. UFC doesn't have an athletes' union, and the fighters are independent contractors. When White was asked if the new agreement would prompt fighters to bargain collectively, he said, 'I can tell you this—since day one, fighter pay just continues to go up. Every new deal we get, it's definitely good for the fighters.' Looking ahead to next year, White said, 'Fighters will be warming up in the White House. It's incredible.' However, there are logistical problems to be solved. 'My Octagon is like 25,000 pounds,' White noted. UFC fights usually take place in large stadiums. 'I don't give a s*** if there's only one seat at this thing,' White told The Journal. 'This is so monumental and historical and just such a cool thing. All I care about is the Octagon on the lawn and the fight happening with the backdrop being the White House and the Washington Monument.' Asked if UFC fighters are already hoping to get the nod, White said, 'hell yes.' A number of UFC fighters, both current and former, have expressed interest in fighting at the White House. They include Conor McGregor, who hasn't fought since 2021, and Jon Jones, who has said that he may reverse his retirement to take part. However, Russian fighter Khamzat Chimaev recently played down his chances of getting to fight at the White House when speaking to MMA Junkie. 'Bro, look at my face,' he said. 'I don't think they would let me come or whatever.'
