Arsenal's Maanum signs new contract
Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum has signed a new contract with the club.The Norway international joined the Gunners from Sweden's Linkoping FC in July 2021 and has gone on to make 150 appearances, scoring 40 goals."I love playing for this club, everything about it – the supporters, the community, playing at Emirates Stadium," Maanum said. "Seeing how the club has developed over the last few years only makes me more excited to continue my journey here."We've had such special moments this season and getting to share those with our supporters has been amazing, I'm looking forward to continuing celebrating with them and giving everything for this team."Renee Slegers added: "I'm delighted that Frida has signed a new contract here with us. She's such an important player in the group and has made a big contribution to what we've achieved as a group during my time as head coach. I know Frida has the ambition and drive to continue striving for improvement as we continue to aim to compete for the highest honours together."

June 7 (Reuters) - Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma offered no excuses for his side's poor showing in their 3-0 defeat at Norway in the World Cup qualifiers on Friday, saying their form was not acceptable and the fans deserve better. Playing the first match of their qualifying campaign, Italy were stunned after a ruthless first-half performance by Norway, who put three past the visitors thanks to Alexander Sorloth, Antonio Nusa and Erling Haaland. Italy sit fourth in Group I, while Norway lead the group with nine points from three matches. Estonia, Moldova and Israel are also in Group I. "I have no explanation at the moment. You just have to go inside and realise the performance tonight. Our fans don't deserve this," Donnarumma told Italian TV channel Rai Sport. "We all have to come out of these games together, we need to examine our conscience." The four-times World Cup winners have not qualified for the global showpiece event since 2014. Italy manager Luciano Spalletti said his team were going through a difficult patch and that he would speak with the Italian Football Federation about the situation. "From us, it has to come from us first of all. We are Italy and these matches are not acceptable... We must be more united than before," said Donnarumma, who won the Champions League, Ligue 1, French Cup and French Super Cup titles with Paris St Germain in the recently concluded season. Italy next host fifth-placed Moldova on Monday.

Isak tipped for Arsenal Jamie O'Hara has claimed that Arsenal should sign Newcastle star Aleksander Isak over Viktor Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko. He told Grosvenor Sport: 'The obvious position to strengthen for Arsenal is a striker – they need to get one in. 'They need someone big and strong who can get them 20 goals a season. For me, Kai Havertz just isn't the man for the job. 'Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko are the obvious choices in the striker department for them. However, the trouble with strikers who come over from other leagues is that they fail to hit the ground running – particularly players from the Bundesliga and Liga Portugal. There's a massive difference between playing there and in the Premier League. 'I think clubs should be buying Premier League proven players who have been doing it week in, week out already. That's why I think Manchester United have been quite clever by signing Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha – we all know they're going to work for them. 'With that in mind, if I were Arsenal, I'd go and get Isak. I know it will be hard because Newcastle are in the Champions League, but Arsenal are a bigger club than Newcastle and could definitely tempt him.'
