Has Elon Musk damaged his business empire?
When Elon Musk took on a new job leading Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, it might have seemed like a savvy move. But while he was busy slashing US federal spending, his business empire was facing serious threats. This week, Tesla revealed its first quarter results. Net income was down 70%, while car revenues were down 20%. On a call with Tesla investors, Mr Musk vowed to take a step back from Doge. But is it too little, too late? And has cosying up to Mr Trump paid off in any way at all?

ABC staff turn on star political correspondent Terry Moran after his bitter clash with Trump aide
ABC News staffers have turned on suspended political correspondent Terry Moran, with some insiders calling for his firing after his post slamming Stephen Miller leaves his future at the network in doubt. Moran, who sat down with the president in April, hit out at Trump's Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller as being 'richly endowed with the capacity for hatred'. While ABC suspended him 'pending further evaluation,' anonymous colleagues are 'p***ed' and believe they didn't discipline him enough. 'He should be fired. People inside are p***ed at Terry for screwing things up for the network,' one anonymous sourced told The New York Post. The source added that Moran's tirade makes the Republican Party and Donald Trump look vindicated in their criticism of the 'Fake News.' 'Everything that Trump has said about the media - that they are haters and they are biased - Moran proved it true,' they said. Another source who worked with him previously called Moran 'a little pompous' and 'someone who has a high opinion of his opinions.' 'He would weigh in on things he had nothing to do with. He always wanted to voice his opinion - even in emails that he was cc'd on.' Moran, who sat down with the president in April , hit out at Trump's Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller (pictured) as being 'richly endowed with the capacity for hatred' The firing would not only be a show of good faith by ABC News, it could save them anywhere from $600,000 to $900,000 a year, one source's estimate of what his salary might run. 'That could save the network a lot of money, and she would demonstrate to the White House that ABC takes the issue seriously,' the source said. In a now deleted post to his X account, the ABC News correspondent said that Miller was the 'bile' behind the Trumpist movement. Moran said: 'Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He's a world class hater. 'You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate. 'Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only a means to an end, and that end his own glorification. That's his spiritual nourishment.' In a statement the network said: 'ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others. 'The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards — as a result, Terry Moran has been suspended pending further evaluation.' In a now deleted post to his X account, the ABC News correspondent said that Miller was the 'bile' behind the Trumpist movement The late night tirade was deleted but not before screenshots of his post were shared elsewhere on the site. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt posted it on her own page, and blasted the comments. She said: 'Last night, in a since deleted post, so-called 'journalist' @TerryMoran went on a rampage against Stephen Miller and called President Trump 'a world class hater.' 'This is unhinged and unacceptable. We have reached out to @ABC to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry accountable.' Miller also waded in, saying: 'The most important fact about Terry's full public meltdown is what it shows about the corporate press in America. 'For decades, the privileged anchors and reporters narrating and gatekeeping our society have been radicals adopting a journalist's pose. Terry pulled off his mask.' Vice President JD Vance said that Moran's comments were a 'vile smear' that were 'dripping with hatred'. Vance added: 'As it happens, I know Stephen quite well. And he's motivated by love of country. 'He's motivated by a fear that people like Terry Moran make rules that normal Americans have to follow, but well connected people don't. ABC should apologize to Stephen. What Terry posted is disgraceful.' Vice President JD Vance said that Moran's comments were a 'vile smear' that were 'dripping with hatred' Moran currently covers the White House, Supreme Court and presidential campaigns for the outlet. He had been hand-picked by Trump, he claimed, to sit down with the president for his first interview with the network since Trump won a $15 million lawsuit against ABC. In a heated moment where Moran attempted to fact-check Trump, the president revealed that the choice wasn't exactly a compliment. 'They're giving you the big break of a lifetime. I picked you to do the interview because frankly, I'd never heard of you, but you're not being very nice,' Trump said. The comments about Miller, seen as an immigration hardliner, came as pro-migrant riots in California raged on - resulting in Trump calling in the national guard. Born in Chicago, Moran graduated from Lawrence University in 1982 with a degree in English. He moved to Washington, DC, and began his career in journalism writing for The New Republic. Moran then transitioned to broadcast and covered high profile criminal trials for Court TV, including O.J. Simpson and the Menendez brothers. He broke into politics by covering Bill Clinton's presidency and Al Gore's presidential campaign. Moran's ABC News biography claims it was from his reporting on the Bush v. Gore Supreme Court Decision that the former vice president learned he had lost the election. In 2004, Moran was named anchor of World News Tonight Sunday, a position he held until joining Nightline a year later. As Nightline co-anchor, he sat down for nine one-on-one interviews with Barack Obama. He has received several awards including the White House Correspondents Association's Merriman Smith Award for excellence in presidential reporting on deadline and a George Foster Peabody Award.

Antonio Brown makes shocking sexual claim about Gavin Newsom's wife in latest worrying social media rant
Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown has waded into the ongoing LA riots crisis by claiming he had an affair with the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom. In his latest social media bombshell, Brown sent a message to Newsom simply claiming 'I had sex wit ur wife Gavin', after the politician revealed he is suing President Donald Trump. There is no evidence to suggest that Brown's latest incendiary post is based in truth, but it quickly went viral and created a huge reaction from the public. Brown then went on to reply to a series of messages he received in response, with one telling him he 'should be taking care of his kids', to which he commented: 'Thanks for the advice dude.' In a separate tweet, Brown posted about Newsom's wife again while including a picture of a sex toy, and also made vulgar comments about their alleged 'affair'. Newsom, 57, and his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom, 50, have been married since 2008, prior to which he was wedded to Kimberly Guilfoyle - also Trump's ex - for five years. Brown's social media outburst is just the latest controversy to surround the ex-Tampa Bay Buccaneers star, who has regularly been in headlines for all the wrong reasons since hanging up his cleats back in 2021. Just last month, shocking video showed the troubled football star appearing to pull out a gun before 'fighting off attackers' in a wild brawl outside a boxing event in Miami. In videos which quickly flooded social media, Brown can be seen brawling with a group of men whom he later claimed were attempting to 'steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me'. In an interview with the Daily Mail in the days that followed, the alleged attacker claimed the Brown instigated the violent incident and shot him in the neck. Newsom, meanwhile, is likely too busy to see Brown's tweets at him on social media, given the ongoing violence that has flooded LA in recent days. Chaos erupted over the weekend after protestors clashed with immigration officials, leading to three days of violence and 74 arrests. In a bizarre social media outburst, Brown replied to a tweet from Newsom about suing Trump Hundreds of Marines have since been mobilized to Los Angeles, along with the National Guard, leading to fury from Newsom who claims that he was not notified of the decision by Trump. In a new post on X, the Governor wrote: 'I was just informed Trump is deploying another 2,000 Guard troops to L.A. 'The first 2,000? Given no food or water. Only approx. 300 are deployed — the rest are sitting, unused, in federal buildings without orders,' he claimed. 'This isn't about public safety. It's about stroking a dangerous President's ego. 'This is Reckless. Pointless. And Disrespectful to our troops.' The announcement came just moments before California state representatives officially filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration for sending in the National Guard. 'One of the cornerstones of our Nation and our democracy is that our people are governed by civil, not military, rule,' Newsom wrote in a follow-up post on X. 'The Founders enshrined these principles in our Constitution — that a government should be accountable to its people, guided by the rule of law, and one of civil authority, not military rule.'
