Daily Mirror2 days ago
EastEnders is lining up some big and unexpected moments next week on the BBC soap spoilers have revealed, from a drug twist, an arrest and romance, to a big clash
There's drama aplenty next week on EastEnders according to some huge new spoilers. There's clashes, some romance, drugs drama, an arrest hinted at and a stag and hen do on the way.

After Patrick Trueman's 'attack' recently, he and his partner Yolande Trueman push forward with their wedding plans. Meanwhile there's a reignited passion for two separate pairings including a former couple.

It comes amid Julie Bates returning to the BBC soap amid her husband Nigel Bates' dementia battle. There's drama for Julie and Phil Mitchell in upcoming episodes as they continue to fall out over what is best for Nigel.

Next week, Nigel and Julie officially move to Walford and into Phil's home but they are not alone. They bring three pet chickens with them, and Phil struggles with the new dynamic.
Julie's decision making and her changes to Nigel's set routine lead to her and an annoyed Phil being at conflict yet again. With the chickens continuously waking everyone up things become more strained.

When Nigel attends an assessment he ends up stressed as the pair join him but end up sniping at each other. Things only escalate when they fall out over their different approaches to Nigel's care and soon things come to a head.
Phil ends up suffering an outburst, leaving Julie stunned but knowing there's more to it she demands to be told everything that she doesn't already know. Their differing thoughts on what is best for Nigel continue though, and as Nigel forgets to close the chicken coop one of the birds escape.
A search is underway but everyone is stunned when it makes a surprise entrance at Yolande's hen do. Speaking of, Patrick and Yolande announce their Best Man, Maid of Honour and Celebrant next week.

Howie Danes continues to unwillingly hide the fact Oscar Branning was involved in the 'attack', so to see him spending time with Patrick leaves him issuing a warning. Oscar doesn't stay away though and accepts an invite to his stag do.
But Jack Branning is watching as Howie confronts his nephew Oscar, leading to the police detective questioning him about what's gone on. But both Howie and Oscar dismiss the probes, only for things to boil over when Howie confronts Oscar when he's alone.

Elsewhere next week, Ravi Gulati lets his family down after a promise falls through. After a police raid where he and Okie have stashed drugs, the decision is made to move everything to Kojo's flat.
Harry Mitchell, caught up in it all, is horrified but things take a turn for Ravi after being confronted by Priya. Their argument leads to passion though, and soon the pair agree to give their past relationship another go.
But Ravi secretly gets back to his drug dealing activities once more, breaking his promise to Priya about finding a legit way of earning money. Kojo also gets dragged into things on his birthday when he finds everyone at the flat.

Okie gives Kojo a pill, promising it will calm him down but he's left in a terrible state only to be found by his brother George Knight. Prior to this, George gives into passion with Nicola Mitchell once more leading to him being sidetracked.
When he finds Kojo though he takes him to Phil's place, only for Jack to arrive and discover he took drugs. Jack explains he'll need to arrest Kojo leaving George gutted, and desperate to get to the truth.

Soon there's a confrontation with Nicola dragged into it, as well as George's daughter Gina. Harry is tasked by Ravi to get Kojo back to the flat and under their control.
Harry successfully convinces Kojo to trust him and promises not to let anything happen to him, so when George interrupts them with accusations against Harry, Kojo backs him up. But will Harry regret this? Finally next week it's a big day as teens Amy, Denzel, Nugget, Avani and Barney get their GCSE results.

Strictly Come Dancing 2025 cast: BBC decision has ruined it

After a strong start, the decision has tanked the season for me. This is why the latest announcement has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Strictly Come Dancing has started to reveal the celebrities who will be taking part in this year's edition. It began with a bang as Nitro from Gladiators and Dr. River Song were unveiled as participants. However, it has now taken a turn that has left a bitter taste in my mouth with the 10th announcement of the season. Former The Apprentice star, businessman and social media influencer Thomas Skinner has joined the cast. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad It might sound like a perfectly adequate addition and one that feels like it should have happened years ago. But for me, personally, it has ruined what enthusiasm I had for the show. BBC has just ruined Strictly Come Dancing with latest cast decision Thomas Skinner has joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing | BBC I quite liked Thomas Skinner during his time on The Apprentice, he had buckets of charm and came across really well. His appearance on Celebrity MasterChef created one of the all-time great reaction gifs. If he had simply faded into the background, perhaps popping up on a TV show or another from time to time, he would have remained a fond figure in my memory. Unfortunately, that is not what has happened. He has become an increasingly loud and polarising figure on social media. If you have spent any time on X (formerly Twitter) in recent months, you have likely come across posts from the BOSH man (although Big John might have a stronger claim to that title). Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Mixed in with posts about his family, business and favourite cafe, Skinner has dabbled in politics. For example, earlier this year he wrote: 'I don't think there is many in government you can trust in my opinion. It's all smoke and mirrors. Lies & corruption. This country needs to be run by the people, for the people.' Websites like The Telegraph, New Statesman and The Spectator have hailed him as one of the most important voices on the right. He has used terms like 'the woke brigade' to decry the 'death' of the English fry-up and pints on a Friday night. Skinner appeared on a Spectator video with former Reform MP Rupert Lowe titled 'How to Save England' in July. It is a pernicious idea that our country needs 'saving' at all. Skinner has also played into the growing right-wing narrative of the UK being 'unsafe' in his social media posts, once claiming his mates had 'no choice' but to flee to Dubai because of how 'lawless' the country has become. I'm sure the tax incentives played no part in those decisions. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad He was quick to express his support for US President Donald Trump, after he was re-elected in November. The Daily Mirror reports that he blasted Foreign Secretary David Lammy for criticising Trump. He wrote: 'I love Trump, I think he is brilliant, that's my opinion. I think it's good he is back in charge, it will be good for the UK economy.' Just this week he posted about meeting with the Vice President of the US, JD Vance. He wrote: 'Here is a pic of Me and Vice President @JDVance towards the end of the night after a few beers🍻 I'm overdressed in my suit, but when the VP invites you to a BBQ, you don't risk turning up in shorts an flip-flops😂 Cracking night in the beautiful English countryside with JD, his friends and family. Once in a lifetime. Bosh.' It comes in the same week that Donald Trump called in the National Guard on the capital city of Washington D.C. and ICE continues to round up people for deportation. Same-sex marriage is also at risk of being overturned, with the Supreme Court formally asked to overturn it this week. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Have we learned nothing from allowing Nigel Farage on I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here? Making figures who dabble in the far-right (or are overtly in the case of Farage) seem 'reasonable' is a massive mistake. Thomas Skinner might not be an MP for Reform or a politician per se, but he has been dabbling in right-wing talking points more frequently. Giving him a spot on prime-time TV could lead more people towards his social media platforms, potentially letting them be sucked in by the narratives spun around how 'unsafe' our country is. After the first spate of announcements, I was excited - especially once La Voix was confirmed. But personally, the addition of Skinner has ruined it for me and left a bitter taste in my mouth. Social media reacts to Thomas Skinner's Strictly reveal I am not alone in my disappointment in the decision to cast Thomas Skinner. Many took to social media to express their concern after he was announced for series 23. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad One wrote: 'Well this has killed my mood after the excitement of La Voix.' Another added: 'First voted out I beg, what a disappointment.' A person joked: 'Who's next? Ghislaine Maxwell?' Another concerned user added: 'Farage next year?' One user on social media wrote: 'It's August, we don't play April fools.' Another echoed: 'Is this a joke?' In a salient point, a person said: 'Thought they didn't want political figures on the show.' And another echoed: 'The BBC and ITV's obsession with platforming right-wing grifters (never left wing) plays a major role in the current political landscape. They know exactly what they're doing.'

BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Tom Skinner's life – criminal past to JD Vance barbeque

Tom Skinner is one of the latest stars to be announced for the 2022 series of Strictly Come Dancing, but the former The Apprentice star's journey to the ballroom has been anything but ordinary Former The Apprentice candidate Tom Skinner has been confirmed as one of the latest celebrities joining the sparkling Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor, though his path to the BBC ballroom has been far from conventional. ‌ The 32 year old Essex-born businessman, now renowned for his thriving pillow and mattress empire, initially rose to prominence on the 2019 series of The Apprentice. His vibrant personality, mischievous Essex wit, and tireless determination endeared him to audiences, despite his departure from Sir Alan Sugar's boardroom in week nine. ‌ However, prior to his television appearances, commercial achievements, and celebrity status, Skinner's life took a dramatically different direction. In 2016, at just 24 years old, he as convicted for handling stolen merchandise valued at nearly £40,000 after purchasing 4,992 tubes of Body Shop cleansing gel and having 2,000 diazepam tablets from what he subsequently acknowledged was an "unreliable source". It comes after Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Marquez pulls out of show. ‌ He was later sentenced and his conviction has since been spent and Skinner has since maintained he's a "changed man". He told the Daily Mail in a previous interview: "Many years ago before I had my business, I was young and naive and bought stock from someone I didn't know", reports the Daily Star. "I wasn't aware the stock was stolen and paid the consequences for the mistake I made. That is now well in my past, I've had a string of successful companies since then. I am a changed man." After news of Tom's past broke just before his stint on The Apprentice in 2019 aired, a BBC spokesperson said: "DBS checks are done for all The Apprentice candidates by the production company ahead of filming. "A spent conviction is not disclosed under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Spent convictions are designed to help people move on in life and not be excluded from opportunities to help further their careers." Tom went on to appear on the BBC show and, since his TV appearance, his career has flourished in remarkable ways. ‌ Renowned for his candid videos on social media platform X, Skinner's posts about business, politics, and everyday life have garnered hundreds of thousands of followers. His social media presence has since sparked an extraordinary friendship with US Vice President JD Vance, Donald Trump's running mate. Vance has shown support for the businessman on X after Tom claimed he received death threats and "vile comments about my children" after he posted a series of tweets in which he said "something's gone wrong" in the UK and said "there is nothing wrong with being proud of where you're from". ‌ After tweeting about the online abuse, the Vice President tweeted a cartoon image of a South Park character looking dishevelled while sat at a computer to Tom and wrote: "Hang in there, my friend. Remember that 90 percent of people attacking your family look like this." Tom replied to the tweet with: "Thank you JD. Bosh". Days after the online exchange between the pair, Tom revealed on Twitter the pair had met up. He wrote: "When the Vice President of the USA invites ya for a BBQ an beers, you say yes. Unreal night with JD and his friends n family. He was a proper gent. Lots of laughs and some fantastic food. A brilliant night, one to tell the grand kids about mate. Bosh." ‌ Tom then shared a selfie of the smiling pair on X and added: "Here is a pic of Me and Vice President @JDVance towards the end of the night after a few beers I'm overdressed in my suit, but when the VP invites you to a BBQ, you don't risk turning up in shorts an flip-flops Cracking night in the beautiful English countryside with JD, his friends and family. Once in a lifetime. Bosh". Skinner has also used his own story to inspire others with learning difficulties to pursue big opportunities as he has dyslexia. He admitted: "I can't even fill out a form, but it didn't matter. The Apprentice changed my life. If you're thinking of applying for something, do it, one million percent."

EastEnders legend quits job in early iPlayer release - and lands another already

This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer. Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) has quit her job on the Bridge Street Market – and a new job offer has being handed straight to her. Earlier this week, she excitedly told Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) that her boss, chief market inspector Mr Lister (Nick Wilton) was retiring after many years overseeing the traders, and she was eyeing up his position. He'd basically promised that she'd be his successor, and Honey was thrilled at the prospect of becoming top dog. However, in today's episode, Lister dropped a huge bombshell during their meeting. Mr Lister – who has appeared in 61 episodes across several stints since 2008 – is often seen ensuring the locals have a market license, disciplining the traders and being a general nuisance. He famously clashed with Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) on a number of occasions, and more recently, developed somewhat of an inappropriate affection for Honey. Over lunch, he asked if she was single, before asking her to consider whether the love of her life was closer than she imagined. He even said she could drop the formalities and start calling him Bob! At the time, she'd just split up from Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), and he tried to suggest that she'd be better off with an older man. Luckily, Finlay Baker (Ashley Byam) came to her rescue, stepping in to announce that they were a couple. Last year, amid Junior Knight's (Micah Balfour) plans to redevelop the market, he announced his intentions to retire. He wouldn't even support the residents campaign to save the institution. However, the late Martin Fowler (James Bye) convinced him to stay in post and help fight. Honey was preparing for a meeting with Lister when she bumped into Zack Hudson (James Farrar) in the Minute Mart. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? He was intrigued to hear that the inspector was moving on, and that Honey's job would be on the market (see what I did there?) In the cafe, Mr Lister brushed around the subject, only for Honey to ask him outright when he was retiring. Lister explained that he isn't in a position to retire – if ever – because a family member named Keith has invested his money. His advice was to never trust a man named Keith. Noted. More Trending Honey was beyond miffed, and while ranting to husband Billy (Perry Fenwick), expressed concern that the reason she hasn't been eyed up as a replacement is because she's a woman. Mr Lister arrived and said he'd promised his job to someone from the rival Canal Street Market, when or if that might be. Enraged, Honey then quit her job on the spot, with Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) swooping in to ask when she can start working at the shop. He even threw in an extra £2 per hour, and agreed she could have a week off before she started. View More » It seems Lister ain't going anywhere!
