Rahul Mishra and his opening act at India Couture Week

Every year, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) brings together the country's best design talents, making India Couture Week (ICW) the pinnacle of craftsmanship and fashion. Models in Rahul Mishra's new collection Becoming Love at Hyundai India Couture Week.
Needless to say, anyone viewing an ICW showcase is sure to be in for a visual treat. Of course, Indian couture is incomplete without the mention of Rahul Mishra, who opened this week-long fashion spectacle with his collection titled Becoming Love.
With a set designed to imitate the craters of the Moon, the showcase was a marriage expressions of everlasting love, and technological marvels. Keeping in mind the way artificial intelligence (AI) has permeated every aspect of everyday life, Mishra asked AI tools to define love, building his collection around those descriptions.
The collection itself was an extension of the designer's presentation at last month's Paris Haute Couture Week, with an additional bridal line catered to his Indian clientele.
Mishra's bridal line in particular drew inspiration from Krishna's Raas Leela, Mughal art, the works of Claude Monet and Gustav Klimt, as well as the cosmos for a collection that was romantic, evocative, with the right amount of gravitas.

Bhumi Pednekar turns showstopper for veteran fashion designer Ritu Kumar at India Couture Week

NEW DELHI: Veteran designer Ritu Kumar showcased her latest collection, Threads of Time: Reimagined, at the ongoing India Couture Week, with actor Bhumi Pednekar gracing the ramp as her showstopper. At 80, Kumar remains a formidable force in Indian fashion, known for championing traditional Indian craftsmanship through her signature designs. Speaking at a post-show press conference, she remarked, 'Today, we are a really strong contender for the world of fashion and crafts. In most other countries, this is limited to a museum; here we are celebrating the living craftsmanship.' Threads of Time: Reimagined blended bridal and Indian wear with fusion silhouettes, showcasing a balance between timeless tradition and modern versatility. The collection stood out for its intricate gold embroidery, a hallmark of Kumar's aesthetic, adorning a range of garments — from contemporary cuts to loose, comfortable silhouettes. A rich palette dominated the runway, led by bridal reds, and expanded into hues commonly found in Indian wardrobes such as fuchsia, baby blue, yellow, and mauve. Accessories were kept minimal, allowing the garments and embroidery to speak for themselves. The musical curation matched the theme of heritage meets modernity. From the soul-stirring Aik Alif by Saeen Zahoor to upbeat tracks like Beat Goes On and Christine, the soundtrack created a striking contrast that reflected the spirit of the collection. Pednekar made a statement as she walked the ramp to the haunting sufi classic Chhap Tilak Sab Chhini Re, dressed in a gold embroidered lehenga. Styled with emerald studs, bold lipstick, and a trailing cape in place of a traditional dupatta, the look offered a fresh take on the modern Indian bride.

'Lokah Chapter One: Chandra' teaser unveiled on Dulquer Salmaan's birthday

On the occasion of his birthday, Dulquer Salmaan has gifted fans the much-awaited teaser of Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, marking a groundbreaking moment in Malayalam cinema. Produced under his banner Wayfarer Films and presented by the actor himself, this visually arresting film kicks off what is being touted as the Wayfarer Cinematic Universe, a bold venture into the realm of Indian superhero storytelling. Directed by Dominic Arun and scripted by actor-writer Santhy Balachandran, Lokah features Kalyani Priyadarshan in her most powerful role yet, as the titular superhero Chandra, a mystical warrior from another world and era, armed with lightning-fast powers. The teaser, just under 90 seconds long, begins with a frightened Naslen encountering an unknown figure, before Kalyani's Chandra emerges in an adrenaline-pumping sequence. While much is left to the imagination, the teaser hints at epic battles, mythological undertones, and a female lead who commands every frame. The teaser poster had already set the tone: bathed in fiery reddish-orange light, Kalyani and Naslen appear in intense close-ups, signalling a story filled with secrets, supernatural elements, and high stakes. The trailer's accompanying score, dramatic, mythic, and modern, only deepens the cinematic promise.
