George Clooney may be a silver fox, but the Hollywood heartthrob faces barriers in acting as he gets older.
The A-lister gave fans a glimpse into what it was like filming the upcoming Netflix movie Jay Kelly during a Monday, August 4, interview with Vanity Fair. George will portray Jay Kelly, a famous actor whose manager is portrayed by Adam Sandler, and Laura Dern as his publicist.
'When you're an actor in my position, at my age, finding roles like this aren't all that common,' George admitted to the publication. 'If you can't make peace with aging, then you've got to get out of the business and just disappear. I'm now the guy that, when I go running after a bad guy, it's funny — it's not suspenseful. That's OK. I embrace all of that.'
The Oscar-winning actor reflected on filming the movie under the guidance of director Noah Baumbach, who is known to make actors shoot multiple takes of a scene.
'I literally said to him, 'Noah, look, I love the script. I love you as a director, but I'm 63 years old, dude — I can't do 50 takes,'' George said. ''I don't have it in me. I've got the acting range from A to B.''
George compared his career to his character's role, admitting that he 'doesn't give a s--t' if people think he only plays himself
'There aren't that many guys in my age group that are allowed to do both broad comedies like O Brother [Where Art Thou?] and then do Michael Clayton or Syriana,' he listed. 'So, if that means I'm playing myself all the time, I don't give a s--t … Have you ever tried playing yourself? It's hard to do.'
After landing his breakthrough role as Douglas Ross , M.D. in the series E/R, George made it to the top of the Hollywood list, starring in Blockbuster films including Batman & Robin, Ocean's 11 and more.

Cops called as Denise Richards shows up at ex's home amid restraining order

The cops were called on Denise Richards Sunday when the reality star allegedly showed up at the home of her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, despite a restraining order the reality star has taken out amid their divorce battle. A divorce lawyer for the 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' alum, 54, told TMZ that Richards only arrived at the Calabasas home Sunday 'after confirming that Mr. Phypers was not present,' and did so 'to retrieve her dogs after learning that Mr. Phypers had put down one of her other dogs without her knowledge or permission.' Phypers, who denies Richards' recent claims of longstanding physical abuse, told the outlet that everything the 'Wild Things' star claimed was 'absolutely false. 'Denise's actions are willfully intentional in the slander and destruction of what is left of a family,' continued the 52-year-old 'frequency medicine' practitioner. 'This is after Denise chose to carry on an adulterous affair — after being caught not once, not twice, but three times.' Photos published by the outlet show the OnlyFans star speaking to a trio of deputies outside the home, which is owned by Phypers, his parents and brother. One image shows Phypers speaking to one of the officers, while another shows him hugging his elderly mother. Phypers, who wed Richards in 2018, filed for divorce July 7, three days after he said they separated. Richards has claimed he 'would frequently violently choke' her and subject her to other forms of physical abuse, including leaving her with a black eye in 2022. She was granted a restraining order against Phypers, which lasts until their scheduled court appearance on Aug. 8, and orders him to stay 100 yards from Richards, her home, car and place of business. Richards last week accused Phypers of disseminating her texts and illegally leaking her nude photos. 'Mr. Phypers has continued to harass Ms. Richards since being served with the Temporary Restraining Order by, among other things, disseminating private information from Ms. Richards' cell phone and laptop, which he stole,' her lawyer alleged in a statement to multiple outlets in late July. 'These actions continue to disturb Ms. Richards' peace. … Ms. Richards will not be responding to Mr. Phypers' false allegations in a public forum and will be addressing Mr. Phypers' abuse in Court.'

‘Real Housewives' Star Wonders If Stage 4 Cancer Was 'Payback' For Her Rumored Affair

Teddi Mellencamp opened up for the first time about a rumored affair with her horse trainer ― and how it affected her family and her health. The former 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' cast mate spoke about her alleged infidelity during an appearance on 'The Jamie Kern Lima Show.' 'I've never talked about it at all ― just because of the kids,' Mellencamp said during the interview, which was released Tuesday. Mellencamp, who was married at the time, shares three children with her now-ex-husband, Edwin Arroyave. 'And I've never wanted anybody to have a, you know, a guarantee whether it happened or didn't happen,' the reality star said. 'But what I can say is: Did I do things that hurt other people? Yes.' 'To this day, does it still hurt my heart and I wonder if that's why I got cancer?' Mellencamp said, as she began to cry. 'Yes. Like it was my payback.' Mellencamp, who is the daughter of famous singer John Cougar Mellencamp, was diagnosed with melanoma in 2022. She recently shared that her cancer had progressed to Stage 4, as her melanoma metastasized to her lungs and brain. 'Nothing goes without payment, I guess,' she said, adding that she was 'so broken as a human being during that part of my life that I did things out of my better judgment.' During the vulnerable interview, Mellencamp also spoke about her ex-husband's infidelity, which came to light just before she and her family starred on 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.' The podcaster said her husband was unfaithful with someone that she knew and that she had to 'beg Edwin to wanna stay with me.' 'I don't think he was in love with me at that point. I think we've gone through times in our marriage where we've been madly in love with each other, but that wasn't one of those times,' she said. 'And there was a while that I thought maybe I'll leave, and then it got better.' Mellencamp filed for divorce from Arroyave in November 2024 and announced the news on Instagram. 'After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,' she said at the time. 'My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.' The former couple share three children together: Slate, 12; Cruz, 10; and Dove, 5. Related... George Clooney Responds To Acting Criticism

To put it plainly, George Clooney has been acting for a long-ass time. Sometimes — not always, but sometimes — when an actor has an extensive career, they tend to give performances that may seem, uh, similar to the typical viewer. Perhaps, when it comes to George's career specifically, you have found yourself watching performances from him and thinking, "Wait — I've seen him do this before. Isn't he just playing himself at this point?" Well, if you've ever had that reaction, George has some pretty strong words for you. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, George came straight for the haters' collective neck — and, suffice to say, he did not miss. 'Do people say that I only play myself? I don't give a shit,' he said. Talk that talk, man! 'There aren't that many guys in my age group that are allowed to do both broad comedies like O Brother [Where Art Thou?] and then do Michael Clayton or Syriana,' he continued. 'So if that means I'm playing myself all the time, I don't give a shit.' 'Have you ever tried playing yourself? It's hard to do.' You know what, fair enough. Read the entire interview here.
