Bihar moving towards $1.1 trillion economy due to infra devpt in last 2 decades: Minister

Patna: The infrastructure and other development in Bihar in the last two decades under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar has led the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) predict more than double the growth in the state, which will have a $219-billion economy by 2030-31, state industries minister Nitish Mishra said on Wednesday. The CII released the report on Tuesday. "The CII estimates Bihar's economy to more than double by 2030-31 and reach $219-billion levels (the optimistic scenario). Over a longer horizon, the economy is expected to reach the size of $1.1 trillion by 2046-47," said the report titled 'Bihar: A US$1-trillion Economy', released at the 4th CII East India Summit in Mumbai. Expressing happiness on the CII vision document, Mishra said this document will become a guide for the all-round industrial and economic development of Bihar. "We are seen as a struggling and poor state, compared to the developed ones. But if we see the state's journey in the last two decades, Bihar has everything now, like a good infrastructure and governance model, which are the prerequisites for the industries to invest anywhere. We have already signed MoUs worth Rs1.81 lakh crore. The CM's announcement on Independence Day regarding the industrial incentives and policy will bring more investments to Bihar," Mishra said, adding the state can be seen as becoming the most attractive destination for investors, not only within the country but also globally, in the coming years. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo He added India is the fourth largest economy in the world today and is moving towards $5 trillion. "In this sequence, Bihar is also moving forward and will contribute to the nation's development. This is not a dream, but a goal to be realized with our policies, plans and the energy of the youth. The biggest strength of Bihar is its youth. The new generation of the state will take Bihar to new heights of development with its energy, talent and innovation. Industrial investment, skill development, infrastructure strengthening and entrepreneurship will get a new direction through this vision document," he hoped. Cultural confidence: The soul of Naya Bharat

A tryst with destiny marked India's awakening to freedom seventy-nine years ago. The midnight of August 15, 1947, was a cultural reawakening as well as a political turning point in time. After centuries of colonisation, a civilisation was regaining its freedom to think, talk, and dream in its terms. As we celebrate another Independence Day, we are at the threshold of a new historical moment: the transition from Naya Bharat to Viksit Bharat. If political freedom was our 20th-century accomplishment, cultural confidence must be our 21st-century goal. A nation's progress is measured not only by GDP or infrastructure, but also by the strength of its civilizational identity, or its ability to modernise while maintaining its moral compass. The cultural underpinning of development The vision of Viksit Bharat cannot be based solely on economic ambition; it needs to be rooted in culture - in common beliefs, customs, and memories- that unite the 1.4 billion individuals that make up the world's population. Without it, development runs the risk of turning into an imitation rather than an innovative endeavour. Designing technology that speaks our languages, creating urban areas that respect local aesthetics, encouraging business based on community needs, and teaching our children to view Indian civilization as a basis for the future rather than a relic of the past are all examples of cultural confidence. Digital swaraj: Freedom in the AI age Swaraj must imply technological independence in 2025, just as it did in 1947 when it meant self-rule. A culturally confident Naya Bharat will not only employ foreign algorithms but also build AI that is aware of Indian contexts, including those related to Ayurveda, agriculture, Indic languages, and the law. Data sovereignty goes beyond cybersecurity and is a statement that our future will not be outsourced. Economic freedom for every citizen A Viksit Bharat cannot afford islands of wealth amid an ocean of disparity. Our development model must ensure that every citizen participates in growth, just as the independence movement united people from all backgrounds and beliefs. This includes decentralised manufacturing, and rural innovation hubs, and start-ups that address India's local problems rather than those that emulate western business models. Youth as the custodians of civilisation Our youth, who make up more than half of our population, are Naya Bharat's most powerful resource. However, only when young Indians possess both advanced skills and profound cultural literacy will demographic advantage become a reality. For example, a climate scientist motivated by the Bishnoi tradition of environmental stewardship or a coder who comprehends Chanakya's strategic thinking will be in a unique position to provide answers for India's requirements. Education for the mind and the soul An educational system that generates both innovators and citizens in equal measure is required by the Viksit Bharat@100 vision. The humanities, ethics, and Indian knowledge systems that have supported our civilization must coexist alongside STEM excellence. Cultural confidence starts in the classroom, where a kid learns to be proud of her mother tongue while learning languages from around the world, and where history is not just facts but the DNA of a living culture. Green freedom - our next national struggle India's soil, rivers, and forests are just as much a part of its heritage as its literature or music. Being culturally confident entails realizing that environmental care is ingrained in our culture and not something that is imported. India's ecological wisdom, from the ancient harvesting practices to the Chipko movement, must direct our course toward energy independence and climate resilience. Ethics in the digital era The Gandhian values of truth and nonviolence remain relevant in internet today, just as they did during India's freedom movement. A culturally confident digital society will regulate technology with ethics at its foundation, protecting citizens against algorithmic bias, cybercrime, and misinformation while supporting inclusive innovation. Inclusion in the age of automation Automation and AI pose the risk of expanding economic disparities. Naya Bharat must ensure that the dignity of labour is not compromised while seeking efficiency. This requires social safety nets, reskilling efforts, and an attitude that values both human creativity and technological efficiency. Genuine cultural confidence embraces diversity and draws strength from it. Naya Bharat to Viksit Bharat A culturally confident India will be the one in which handloom clusters coexist with urban skylines, where the newest electric vehicle proudly integrates indigenous design, where an AI-powered healthcare app speaks to a villager in her dialect, and where growth is gauged not only by export numbers but also by the number of people who feel a sense of belonging to the country's narrative. As we transition from Naya Bharat to Viksit Bharat, let us not forget that our freedom fighters envisioned a country that would be modern yet grounded, strong yet compassionate, prosperous yet just. Political independence allowed us to shape our destiny; cultural confidence will give us the wisdom to shape it well. As Rabindranath Tagore once said, may we never give up on the goal of a nation "where the mind is without fear and the head is held high"—where the heart beats in the rhythm of its own civilization.
