Race 1 (1,000m) (3) MARKETA has been very consistent, the drop in trip to 1,000m will definitely help her chances. Hard to beat. (1) WHATASTAR ran a fair race behind Between The Lines on June 17. Aug 15 South Africa (Fairview) form analysis

Race 1 (1,200m) (1) THE ROARING ROCK has found one better on the day in both his local starts. He should beat those who have racing experience, but there is an interesting newcomer. Trainer Gavin Smith tends to test his best newcomers over this particular course and distance, so watch the betting on Gimmethegreenlight gelding (3) ALL SYSTEMS GO. (5) BUGLE makes his local debut and should improve and can contest the finish. (7) THROW A PARTY needed the run first-up from a short let-up. Will come on from that and could have a say this time round. Race 2 (1,400m) (5) MORFELIHA showed improvement in her second start and brings Western Cape form to the table, so would not be a surprise winner. (1) OLIVE OYL was threatening to win a race but dislodged her rider last time. Jockey Richard Fourie gets his first try on her and that could make all the difference. (2) SECONDS OUT is capable of improvement and has a place chance. (3) CALL ME CLARION has been a disappointment so far but could improve. Race 3 (1,400m) (4) WINTER EMERALDS did not show his best last time but was improving before that and would not be a surprise winner. (3) GRAND ALLEGRO and (2) GOT THE FEVER have both been in consistent form of late and should be able to challenge for top honours. (1) FRENCH FLAME makes his local debut and could score. Race 4 (1,600m) (1) GREENLIGHT LEGEND is three from three for trainer Alan Greeff. In all the wins, she had something in hand, so may well defy the handicapper yet again. (4) RED WILLIAM represents trainer Sharon Kotzen - who is in good form - and will be a serious threat yet again. (3) PEDRO has not shone of late but is a threat this course and distance. (7) ONE GIANT LEAP and (10) ROCK OF FUTURA are unexposed and could be better than they are rated. Race 5 (2,000m) (6) BEER WITH THE BOYS will be having his first start for Smith after being transferred from Justin Snaith. He was not striding out when trying the Polytrack last time but had been threatening to win a race before that and is capable of winning a race of this nature. (4) HENRY'S HEDGE is improving and will not go down easily this time around. (3) GARDEN SUN finally shed his maiden status by winning convincingly over 2,400m at Fairview at his last start. No reason why he cannot give this another mighty shake-up. Stable companions (2) ALADO'S PRIDE and (1) GEORGE HANDEL have not won for some time now but are capable of earning some money. Race 6 (2,000m) Visiting trainer Snaith sends out (2) KNOCKOUT for this race. She has not won this year but should fight it out. (1) LADY SILVANO has been very game. She will relish the step-up to this trip. (8) GREENLITEALLTHEWAY found the distance too sharp last time. She will be more competitive this time. (7) FIRST WISH is suited by the course and distance and should be involved with the finish. Race 7 (1,600m) (2) MY BEST SHOT tried his luck in the Hollywoodbets Durban July and was not disgraced. He was unbeaten in five starts this year before that after having been gelded. He can bounce back to score. (4) ROYAL AUSSIE has run in better fields this year but may be better without blinkers. (5) ZINOVI was full of running in his latest win and could be better than his rating. (3) BINGWA did too much too soon last time and could be a threat on best form. Race 8 (1,200m) A very competitive last race to finish off the day. (7) SYMBOL OF LOVE may have just needed her last run when tiring very late. Fitter this time, she may well keep rolling. (1) CLIFF TOP has won a couple of times over this course and distance and is not out of it. (5) GIMME'S LADDIE and (3) MHLABENI are all capable of troubling the selection.

Race 1 (1,200m) (3) THE ROARING ROCK did not show his best on the Polytrack. There is a chance this race will be run on the Polytrack if the rains arrive. He will prove hard to beat on the grass. (4) AWAY WITH RED showed improvement last time and can contest the finish again. (5) AMERICAN EAGLE is improving and is not out of it. (7) FLIGHT ENGINEER is battling to win a race but could play a minor role. Race 2 (1,600m) (1) PYRO EDITION is improving and could go one better on his last good run. (2) BOMBER BAY is holding form and will not go down without a fight for top honours. (3) GLOBAL DRUMBEAT is also holding form and should earn some money. (7) ZAMBEZI SUNSET is capable of improving and could earn more money. Race 3 (1,400m) (3) BIRD ON A WING was not disgraced on the Polytrack last time. She will strip fitter and could fight out the finish. (11) ATLANTIC PEARL is capable of earning some money. Race 4 (1,400m) An interesting race. (5) ABOVE THE HORIZON beat a decent filly and could be well ahead of the handicapper. (6) DUMISANI has got close to winning twice of late, and is not out of it. (4) GOLDEN GREY picked up some confidence after a deserving first success and he can get involved with the finish yet again. (2) GLOBETONIC is not reliable, but can contest the finish. Race 5 (2,000m) (2) GIMME MORE TIME does well at Fairview and does look the right one over this course and distance. (3) MAKHACHEV is not reliable, but is also not out of it. (7) ANATOLIAN SILVER and (8) NOTHINGELSEMATTERS are both ready to fight out the finish. (4) NO PLACE LIKE HOME and (5) PAINITE are usually competitive, and can be involved with the finish. Race 6 (1,200m) (8) EYJAFJALLAJOKULL is not an easy ride, but he has had a successful year and can contest the finish. (10) SPEED RACER and (6) FOREST SPY are all stablemates to the selection and none of them can be ruled out. (5) DUBAI HILLS remains in good form and can fight out the finish yet again. Race 7 (1,200m) A very open handicap. (3) DRESSEDTOTHENINES needed the last run and can show vast improvement. (2) YOU'RE SO SPECIAL showed promise and could be better than her handicap rating. (4) THREAD OF LIFE and (5) FREE WORLD are consistent and can earn some money. (7) HUGSANDHIGHFIVES and (9) CITY OF DREAMS are better than they showed last time, and could pop up and score. Race 8 (1,000m) A nice race to end the meeting. It could be fought out by two recent maiden winners. (3) DANISH DYNAMITE was very impressive last time and can follow up if as good on the turf, while (2) BUFFALO BILL was full of running on the turf last time and does have more wins in his tank. (4) MUNCHKIN has not been far from winning, and has to be considered a possible victor. (8) CASINO ACE and (9) CAPE CAPRI are both better than their last runs suggest, and it would not be a surprise for either to win.
