Fashion for Good and AltMat support adoption of next-gen fibres through new Altag Fibre Club
It was one of the nine participants of Fashion for Good's first South Asia accelerator programme back in 2020. In 2022, it was also part of Fashion for Good's project 'Untapped Agricultural Waste' together with the Laudes Foundation, partners and five other innovators.
One outcome of the recent partnership is the new Altag Fibre Club, which brings together a consortium of global value supply chain partners. Together, they want to fast-track the commercial adoption of next-generation fibres from agri-residue at scale, thus supporting the industry's transition toward circular materials. 'Advancing the Fibre Club with AltMat marks a significant step in scaling innovative materials with real commercial potential,' commented Katrin Ley, managing director at Fashion for Good, in a press release.
'By connecting breakthrough innovators like AltMat with committed brand partners, we are building the infrastructure and demand needed to bring next-gen materials to market faster and more efficiently,' she added.
The collaborative model builds on Fashion for Good's first Fibre Club with textile-to-textile recycler Circ in 2024, in collaboration with Canopy.
Supply chain partners include Adalberto, Alok, Arvind, Bhaskar Denim, Jindal Textiles, Maharaja Shree Umaid Mills, Ltd, Positive Materials, Sambandam Spinning Mills Limited, Shahi Exports, Sutlej Textiles, Sweaters India and Industries Limited and Vrijesh Natural Fibre & Fabrics (India) Pvt. Ltd.
Together, they aim to overcome key barriers to adoption such as scalability, processing compatibility and cost competitiveness.
'There is no shortage of intent to adopt next-gen materials, but there is a lack of systems to actually make it happen. With the Altag Fibre Club, we are closing that gap by connecting every link in the value chain, from farm to fibre to fashion,' stated Shikha Shah, CEO and founder of AltMat.
'We are not just introducing a fibre; we are building the foundation for a new class of materials rooted in regeneration, resilience and real-world scalability,' she added.
The Altag Fibre Club will officially launch at the Future Fabric Expo in London on 24th to 25th June 2025, which also marks an open call for interested brands to join.

Teen gets bail after he pleads guilty to charges in mass Etobicoke shooting in June last year
A teen boy has been released on bail after he pleaded guilty to three charges in connection with a mass shooting in Etobicoke last year that left two men dead and three others injured. The boy, who was 14 at the time of the shooting but is now 16, was facing two first-degree murder charges and seven attempted murder charges in the shooting on June 2, 2024 in the parking lot of North Albion Collegiate Institute, a high school near the corner of Mount Olive Drive and Kipling Avenue. The murder and attempted murder charges were stayed Monday. Crown prosecutors stayed the charges against the teen, stating there there wasn't enough evidence at this time to support a reasonable prospect of conviction. Delroy 'George' Parkes, 61, and Seymour Gibbs, 46, died as a result of the shooting. Parkes died upon arrival at the hospital, while Gibbs died in hospital two days later. The boy, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact to the shooting, possession of a loaded restricted firearm without authorization and possession of stolen property over $5,000. Suspects arrived in stolen pickup truck, court hears According to an agreed statement of facts read in court, a stolen dark grey Ford F-150 pickup carrying three people arrived at the high school parking lot at about 10:55 p.m. that night. A group of people were socializing in the lot and playing dominoes. Two people exited the pickup and one started shooting, firing 23 rounds at the group. Five men were hit. Parkes and Gibbs were fatally shot. One man was shot several times on the left side of his torso, required emergency surgery and spent several days in hospital. Another man suffered a gunshot wound to his back. And a third man suffered a gunshot wound to his left thigh. He was discharged from hospital the next day. Three other men were present but not injured. The two people returned to the vehicle and fled the scene, parking the truck about five minutes later on Amoro Drive. Teen took Uber to pick up truck later, court hears According to the statement, the teen took an Uber to pick up the truck about an hour and 45 minutes later, carrying a loaded firearm in his waistband. The statement said the teen said "he had a suspicion that he may be assisting the people involved in the shooting at North Albion Collegiate by moving evidence of the crime." He admitted he was "willfully blind to the fact the F150 truck in his possession was stolen property." He also admitted "he made a conscious decision not to make inquiries that would confirm his suspicion, and that he was therefore willfully blind to his participation as an accessory after the fact to the shooting at North Albion Collegiate." Toronto police saw the teen driving the vehicle soon after and went after it. The teen crashed the truck into a parked car, took off on foot and ignored a police command to stop, the statement said. He ran past St. Benedict Catholic Elementary School and threw the firearm onto a school portable roof and was arrested shortly afterwards. A person found the gun the next day and reported it to police. Investigators determined that the gun was not linked to the shooting in the parking lot. His next court date is set for October 7, 2025.

Stetson starts new era with Jasper
The Stetson football program begins the 2025 season under new head coach Michael Jasper. Jasper spent three seasons as an offensive lineman in the NFL and hopes to jumpstart this Hatters program. Stetson went 2-9, 0-7 in the Pioneer Football League in 2024 and they have been picked to finish last out of eleven teams this season. The Hatters have almost fifty freshmen on their roster, but they have plenty of talent to have a bounce back season. Phillies benefit a 3rd time on catcher's interference call, this one against Mariners
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — For the third time in less than a month, the Philadelphia Phillies were on the positive end of a catcher's interference call. In the first inning of their game Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners, J.T. Realmuto was called out on strikes on a pitch by Bryce Miller that would have ended the inning. However, Realmuto argued that his swing was interfered with by Seattle catcher Mitch Garver — who was starting behind the plate while usual catcher and MLB homer leader Cal Raleigh was in the lineup as a designated hitter. The Phillies challenged the call, and after a video review, it was determined that Garver's glove did interfere with Realmuto's bat on the swing, and Realmuto was awarded first base. Last month, when Boston was in Philadelphia, catcher Carlos Narvaez was called for inference in consecutive games, in both instances allowing a run to score, one of them to end a game in extra innings. It was the first walk-off catcher's interference since 1971. This time, there was no damage as Miller induced a fielder's choice ground out by Alec Bohm on the first pitch after the review, ending the inning with Seattle trailing 1-0 thanks to Kyle Schwarber's NL-leading 44th homer.
