Liverpool look increasingly likely to MISS OUT on Marc Guehi transfer but Eberechi Eze expected to leave

MARC GUEHI is increasingly likely to stay at Crystal Palace this summer, despite interest from Liverpool.
The Premier League champions have held talks over a £35million move for the Eagles skipper.

However, that falls well below Palace's valuation of the defender, even though he has just one year remaining on his deal at Selhurst Park.
Even a £45m bid is not considered to be enough by the south Londoners.
Guehi, 25, is yet to be convinced a move to Anfield this summer would be beneficial, given that it is a World Cup year.
The England man is, fitness allowing, all but guaranteed to start every game at Palace and Liverpool cannot offer the same assurance.
The Reds will reportedly make a move for Giovanni Leoni instead, with the Parma defender agreeing a switch to Anfield
As SunSport revealed in May, Guehi is prepared to run down his contract and leave on a free next summer - which could open up a number of moves in England and across Europe's biggest clubs.
But it would also mean that Palace miss out on landing a fee for one of their star players, which means they could drop their asking price late on.
That must be balanced with the prospect of losing both Guehi and Eberechi Eze in the same window.
Eze is expected to depart for more than £50m, with both Arsenal and Tottenham having held talks.
Palace would be reluctant to lose both in the same summer, just as they did not want to sell Guehi and Joachim Andersen, who left for Fulham, a year ago.

Asked about Guehi's future last weekend, chairman Steve Parish said: "For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it's a problem for us unfortunately.
"We had another bid [for Guehi] in January but that was a different situation.
"We'll just have to see what happens. But, you know, it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind."
Palace manager Oliver Glasner insisted last week that Guehi had not asked to leave the club this summer.

Man Utd transfer news: Fabian Hurzeler sure Carlos Baleba will stay at Brighton

Forward trio Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have moved to Old Trafford this summer and it seems United are out to reinforce their midfield before the transfer window closes on September 1. It has been reported that Baleba fits the bill for United boss Ruben Amorim, but the Cameroonian, who joined Brighton from Lille in August 2023, still has three years remaining on his contract. Hurzeler was bullish when asked whether Baleba will remain with the Seagulls this season, adding the 21-year-old is enjoying being at the club and has not been distracted by United's rumoured interest. 'I didn't see any change in Carlos… he only changed his hair.' 😅 @MonsterEnergy 📲 — Brighton & Hove Albion (@OfficialBHAFC) August 15, 2025 'Very, very, very confident (he will stay),' Hurzeler told a press conference ahead of Brighton's Premier League curtain-raiser at home to Fulham on Saturday. 'It's just my belief. 'I didn't see any change in him. He only changed his hair, that was the only change he made in the last two weeks! 'But overall, he seems to be in a really good place. He's enjoying it with his team-mates. He's enjoying being a Brighton player. 'He's very grateful to have the progress he made in the last season. I didn't see any big change. He is an option to start for tomorrow.'

Luke Humphries says form is ‘depressing' after struggling to win in New Zealand

Humphries beat Haupai Puha 6-4 but was not happy with his display in the World Series event in Auckland. The 30-year-old has been 'out of sorts' since winning the Premier League at the end of May, crashing out of the World Cup and the World Matchplay at the first hurdle. HUMPHRIES OFF AND RUNNING! The reigning champion is through to the quarter-finals! World number one Luke Humphries marks his return to New Zealand with a hard-fought 6-3 win against Haupai Puha! 📺 | R1 — PDC Darts (@OfficialPDC) August 15, 2025 He averaged 89.47 against the world number 94 but was able to get through. 'I think the last two months it has been hard work,' Humphries admitted on ITV X. 'I am out of sorts, out of form, and struggling to find something. Since the Premier League final I have not been in the form I would have liked. 'It is depressing because I feel like something is there but it's not coming out. 'It's really tough to not perform at the level you can. I am finding myself not playing very well at the moment but I can bounce back. A post shared by Professional Darts Corporation (@officialpdc) 'I don't think I have had one good game of darts in two months. Everyone knows that and everyone can see that. 'That doesn't stop me coming back tomorrow and being the world number one that everyone knows.' World number two Luke Littler is having no such problems as he made it 10 wins on the bounce. Littler, who won the Australian Masters last week, did not need to be at his absolute best to beat Mark Cleaver 6-4. He sets up a quarter-final tie with Mike De Decker, who beat Gordon Mathers 6-1, as he has eyes on a Down Under double. There were also wins for Stephen Bunting, Gerwyn Price and Josh Rock.

Arsenal legend calls for Martin Odegaard to be axed as captain

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has urged Mikel Arteta to appoint Declan Rice as the club's captain. Adams believes Rice possesses a winner's mentality, which is crucial for Arsenal to secure the Premier League title. He argues that current captain Martin Odegaard lacks the leadership qualities necessary to guide the team to a league championship. Adams challenged Arteta to make this 'big call' to demonstrate his own winning ambition and lead the team to major silverware. Arsenal, who have finished second for three consecutive seasons, are set to begin their new campaign against Manchester United.
