Track soft 5 and rail out 3m from 1000m to 300m and true the remainder.
Race 1
4. Miss You So is an improving three-year-old primed to peak third-up in just his second prep getting out to the mile. Has worked home OK in two runs back and desperate now for a longer journey. Drawn to get cover. 3. Takethemoneryandrun is also suited over this distance third-up, with some weight relief after the jockey's claim. 1. Comancheria can improve third-up over a suitable furlong further. 6. Twenty Four Guns, fourth-up with a significant jockey change, and 7. Fejer Dawn, a lightly raced improver second-up; head the rest.
How to play it: Miss You So to win.
Race 2
2. Considered is an emerging filly trained on the course, and the one to beat second-up. Was having only her second outing when beaten by a whisker at Inverell 19 days ago as a heavily backed favourite, but fitter now over 100m further, only needs clear air from the 350m to finish best. 3. Pride Of Nations, a locally trained filly by a Doncaster Handicap winner having her first start for the Sue Grills stable, is naturally a big market watch off a steady trial. So, too, 4. Last Lalique improving into her second start over more ground for a leading Scone stable. Gap to the rest headed by 5. Be Sharp peaking third-up and 7. Epic Statement resuming behind two trials.
How to play it: Considered to win.
Race 3
6. Diva Rouge is a three-year-old filly by Red Henno on debut for the underrated Jake Hull stable at Gosford. Given two well-spaced trials, and there was plenty to like about the most recent when cruising through the line from off speed and wide out on the Beaumont course in a trial run on heavy going in relatively smart time, despite not racing truly. Drawn wide, but looks to have above average ability. Over the odds. 3. Hellwithasmile is a locally trained three-year-old by Zousain on debut for the same combination as the previous on top selection, and was impressive easily winning the second of two trials in heavy going. 2. Dartbrook resumes with no public trials and normally takes a run or two to hit his straps, but can finish hard over this trip if there's enough speed early in the race. 8. See You Then is a well-bred filly having her second start off a fair closing debut at Scone. Watch the betting on 4. Our Land, a first starter by Territories, drawn wide but the stable is a specialist sprinter producer.

Every second counts: Bush galloper set to go past Tom Melbourne's mark

She's the country version of racing's favourite runner-up, Tom Melbourne, only Dollar Magic has seen her rack up 14 second placings in 28 starts. And if she goes one better on Saturday at Randwick, either to 15 seconds, or even a fifth win, her Scone trainer and part-owner Scott Singleton will be happy. 'The fact that they earn such good prize money running second, it takes the frustration out of it because you feel like a winner anyway,' said Singleton, who owns 20 per cent of the galloper, which has earned $559,690 from 28 starts. 'But that last start, you can't say she ran second because she wants to. You could just tell she was trying her heart out. It's just how it's worked out with her. 'I wouldn't say it's frustrating. I'd just love her to win one for her.' Now-retired Tom Melbourne, an import bought for just $7800, rose to cult status with 14 seconds and just five wins across 50 Australian starts, often at stakes level, to earn $1.4 million. While Dollar Magic has never challenged those heights, she is a consistent performer, winning four races and missing a place just six times. Twelve of her runner-up efforts have been on a Saturday in town. Her only Saturday metro win came at home, on Scone's annual standalone meeting, last year. The seven-year-old mare, a homebred daughter of Shamus Award for Singleton's long-time clients Wal and Anne Lanham, went to 14 seconds last time out at Rosehill in a 1200m fillies and mares benchmark 78 handicap on July 19. She returns to town for an identical race, the third on the card, and Singleton is confident she can challenge again. Out of the Lanhams' mare Last Dollars, Dollar Magic was matched with Shamus Award when he stood for $22,000 at Widden Stud.

SCONE INSIDE MAIL RACE 1: Maiden Handicap (900m) ROCKADEEL (4) is a four-year-old debutant by Dundeel. Had three trials in 2023 before a long break. Close second in her July 9 Gunnedah trial before coming from last to win her July 16 trial here. EMPRESS TSARINA (3) lost considerable ground when severely hampered at the start when seventh at Muswellbrook last start. Go on her three provincial placings before that. SHE'S SO FLY (5) is a first starter by Flying Artie. Third to Rockadeel in her trial here before leading all-the-way to win her July 23 Gosford trial by over four lengths. BET: ROCKADEEL (4) to win. RACE 2: Maiden Plate (1100m) SEE YOU THEN (8) debuted with a second to Straand Care here in January before a spell. Returned with a second to Rembroy at Tamworth before a long head second to Hellwithasmile there 11 days later. MAGURTZ (9) is a debutant by Tassort. Nice effort to beat Head Kahuna in his trial here before tracking the leader and running away to win his Beaumont heat. FLYING MOLLY (6) was good first-up from a long lay-off when third to Herman Said. Followed with a solid second to Nova Centauri. BET: SEE YOU THEN (8) to win. RACE 3: Benchmark 66 (1700m) CHARLEROI (1) raced outside the leader buy was no match to Hooligan Tommy when runner-up as favourite in a Midway Bm68 at Gosford 12 days ago. STORM PARK (7) resumed with a sixth to Malabar over 1350m at Gosford before a closing fifth to Cash Me over 1500m at Hawkesbury. His maiden win was over 1600m and suited stepping up to 1700m. GREAT POINT (5) dops in grade after two runs in TAB Highways at Rosehill and Randwick. Winner at Tamworth before that. BET: CHARLEROI (1) to win. RACE 4: Benchmark 58 (1000m) CHAMPAGNE TONIGHT (7) was spelled after a debut third at Cranbourne in October. Resumed from a spell for a new stable with a nose win from I'm Done over 1000m here. Missed the start by two lengths when a neck third at Moree last start. EDGE OF MIDNIGHT (4) resumed with a nose second to Manage The Cycle here on July 14. Is two from two second-up. ECHELON (6) placed once in nine starts in Victoria. Transferred to the Cavanough stable and scored a good win from Jagerschnitzel at Muswellbrook. Good chance again. BET: CHAMPAGNE TONIGHT (7) to win. RACE 5: Class 1 Plate (1600m) GHAZNAVI (2) was unlucky two starts back after caught deep throughout from a wide gate when a nose second to Saint Philomena over 1400m at Mudgee. Stepped up to 1600m and was again wide before beating The Big Blue here. Drawn ideally and will give this a shake. PINDORAMA (11) tracked the leader before scoring a two length win from Mad Harry on debut here on June 23. Got well back from a wide draw before running home for third to Wild Sensation 18 days later. OCEANFRONT (5) will be improved by his first-up second at Tamworth. BET: GHAZNAVI (2) each-way. RACE 6: Maiden Plate (1300m) SMART BUY (9) was a little unlucky not to break her maiden second-up last campaign when a three-quarter length second to Tulipwood at Dubbo after being held-up on the turn. Again held-up when fourth over 1000m here first-up. EAGLETURN (2) was bumped near the 75m when third to Great Idea on debut at Tamworth and was promoted to second after a protest. Has claims. DWAYNE (1) steps out for a new stable off a Gosford trial win. Has provincial form from 1500m up to 1890m. BET: SMART BUY (9) each-way. RACE 7: Class 2 Handicap (1300m) SOLITARIO (2) resumed with a nice win from Star Prediction to break his maiden here before returning to win a Class 1 from Cresta Run. Raced wide without cover when a neck third to Ilovenews when shooting for a hat-trick in a Bm66. GIRRAWHEEN (5) was fifth to Solitario in the Class 1 first-up before dropping back to 1100m and beating My Boy Scout at Dubbo. SEBILLA (7) has been freshened since fading in a Highway Rosehill on June 14. Has claims on her third to Fiorsum Fred here three starts back. BET: SOLITARIO (2) to win. RACE 8: Benchmark 58 (1200m) CRESTA RUN (6) came from near last and ran on strongly when a nose second to Solitario first-up. Raced a little keenly when runner-up to Wild Sensation here last start.
