Myles Garrett gets another end-of-year award
Another year, another award for Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.
The Sporting News announced Garrett as their NFL Defensive Player of the Year. It's the second straight time he has been selected for the award.
The defensive star managed to have another incredible season amidst the Browns' struggles in 2024. Garrett managed to repeat his incredible sack total from 2023 with another 14.0 this season. He also managed to collect 47 total tackles in his 17 games played, five more than his last year total. Garrett is also nominated to secure his second straight NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, which is expected to be announced at the 14th Annual Honors Ceremony on February 6th.
Myles Garrett's accomplishments are one of, if not the only silver lining from the Browns past season. Most of the focus shifted towards the Cleveland Browns' future draft picks this April, but Garrett's talent has once again kept them in the spotlight of the NFL awards.
We'll see if he can secure his second-straight NFL honor when the league's award winners are announced on February 6th.

Vikings, OC Wes Phillips agree to contract extension
The Minnesota Vikings will keep Wes Phillips as their offensive coordinator for a little while longer. According to Ben Goessling of the Minnesota Star Tribune, the Vikings and Phillips have agreed to a contract extension. Phillips' deal was set to expire after the 2025 season, but the team is adding one more year to his contract, keeping him on the coaching staff through 2026. Before that, he was Washington's tight ends coach from 2014-2018, spending three years on the same staff as McVay and two years with Kevin O'Connell. The Vikings have ranked seventh, 10th and 12th in total yards under Phillips the last three years but will look to improve those numbers in 2025 with J.J. Aaron Rodgers Looks Forward to Mentoring Will Howard: ‘I'm Gonna Help Him Out as Much as I Can'
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed during his introductory press conference on Tuesday that he looks forward to serving as a mentor for rookie Will Howard. 'Will's a good kid,' Rodgers said. 'Got to talk a little bit. I thought he did really well today. he seems pretty bright. [The game's] not too big for him. He got through progressions really well. I'm gonna be with him every single day and every single meeting. Found my seat next to him in the offensive meeting… I'm gonna help him out as much as I can.' Advertisement Howard is chomping at the bit to learn from one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. 'I was fired up,' Howard said when he heard that Rodgers signed with the Steelers. 'Believe me. That's a guy I grew up watching, idolizing, and it's cool to be in the same room with him. Just hearing, first day, his thoughts and the way that he looks at things. He's a legend in this game. I'm gonna try and learn as much as I can from him and be the best support guy that I can be for him. I think it's amazing. The opportunity for me to learn and to work with a guy like that is second to none.' Having the chance to learn from a four-time NFL MVP like Aaron Rodgers will only set Howard up for success at the next level, and he knows that. 'I've been watching him pretty much, damn near, my whole life. There's a lot of things I've picked up from him. The things he can do with the football in his hands are kind of special,' Howard said. 'You got to make the best of your situation. I think him being here, for me, is like a dream come true, learning from a guy like that.' Advertisement Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love recently revealed that Aaron Rodgers played a big part in his development. 'In my time with A-Rod, we had a great relationship. It was awesome being in the same room with him, being able to learn. He was amazing with everything. And I definitely appreciate the way he handled everything on the outside with obviously him leaving and me taking over, and he's been very supportive of me [since],' Love said in an interview with Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee. Brett Favre didn't necessarily welcome Rodgers with open arms in 2005, but that wasn't the case for Love. Rodgers made sure to be a good mentor. He also looks forward to facing Rodgers in Week 8 when the Steelers and Packers square off on Sunday Night Football at Acrisure Stadium. It will be Rodgers' first meeting against his former team since departing Green Bay after the 2022 season. There were a lot of rumors going on the whole offseason about him going to the Steelers. I was excited for him that he was going to keep playing. It's going to be fun, it's going to be awesome. I'm excited for it. I can't wait to be on different sides meeting up and I know we'll talk pregame and things like that and hopefully we can exchange jerseys after.'
