Influencer ‘CEO Batu' claims trial to possessing lewd content
KUALA LUMPUR : Social media influencer 'CEO Batu', charged yesterday with indecently exposing himself to a minor, was today slapped with an additional charge of possessing pornographic material.
Iqbal Muhammad, 22, claimed trial to the latest charge at the Selayang magistrates' court.
He arrived at court this morning accompanied by several family members and was seen giving a thumbs-up to the media as he entered the courtroom.
Iqbal is accused of possessing pornographic videos and images allegedly found on his mobile phone during an inspection at the Gombak district police headquarters at around 11.30am on May 22.
He was charged under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of three years' jail, a fine, or both, upon conviction.
Magistrate Chai Guan Hock fixed bail at RM3,000 with one surety.
Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Birr Zamier Abu Bakar proposed bail at RM6,000.
However, Iqbal's lawyer Nabil Ashraff Ridzuan sought to halve the sum, citing financial constraints faced by his client.
'The accused earned about RM3,000 a month as an influencer. But since the case surfaced, he has lost his income as many of his content contracts have been terminated,' he said.
Nabil said Iqbal was also supporting his younger brother, who suffers from breathing difficulties, and his 74-year-old grandfather who requires regular check-ups at the National Heart Institute.
The court set Sept 30 for mention.

‘Don't click': Public warned of RM100 Sara scam links posing as government portals
MUAR, July 26 — The public is urged to remain vigilant against fraudulent links circulated by scammers related to the one-off RM100 cash assistance under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) initiative, which are designed to collect personal information, said Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching. She said the scammers often employ deceptive tactics by sharing links accompanied by posters that appear convincing, incorporating official-looking elements such as the Malaysia Madani and Bersama Malaysiaku logos to mislead recipients. 'One such example is the link which falsely claims to provide official information about the RM100 Sara aid and prompts users to submit their personal information. The Ministry of Finance confirmed yesterday that this link is fake,' she said. 'My advice is, if the information truly comes from the government, the link will typically end with '. - where 'gov' stands for government,' she told reporters after attending the Madani Community Service programme held in conjunction with the launch of National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign here. She added that numerous complaints had been received regarding the matter, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had taken steps to block the fraudulent link. Teo said that such scams often evolve by creating new websites with similar names, such as ' or ' and urged the public to remain vigilant. She also stressed that no money will be deposited into e-wallets or Touch 'n Go accounts. Instead, eligible MyKad holders only need to present their identification cards at participating outlets, including Lotus's, Mydin, 99 Speedmart and selected grocery stores — to access the benefits. 'The primary role of the MyKad in this programme is solely to verify the identity of recipients. It has no connection to any e-wallet platform, so there's no need to worry if your MyKad isn't linked to certain applications,' Teo said. She also urged the public to rely only on official websites or verified social media accounts of government agencies, such as the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Communications for the latest and most accurate information. Police say ‘Turun Anwar' rally drew estimated 18,000, ended without incident
KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 — Police estimated that around 18,000 people took part in the 'Turun Anwar' rally in the capital today, said acting Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad. Despite the large turnout, Mohamed Usuf said the protest was peaceful. 'We would like to say thank you to those who participated in the rally today, for not stirring any unwanted trouble. 'So far, we have not received any police reports,' he told a press conference here after the crowd had dispersed. When asked if anyone would be called in for investigation, Mohamed Usuf said police would typically carry out a post-mortem before deciding if further action is necessary. More than 2,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for the rally, which began at 11am before protesters marched to Dataran Merdeka at noon. The rally lasted for three hours and ended without incident.
