Influencer ‘CEO Batu' charged again, this time with pornographic content possession

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — After being charged in the Ampang Sessions Court for alleged sexual assault, a social media influencer, known as 'CEO Batu', was once again brought before the court today, on a charge of possessing pornographic videos and images on his mobile phones two months ago. Muhamad Iqbal Muhamad Nor, 22, pleaded not guilty at the Selayang Magistrate's Court on the charge that he allegedly committed at 11.39am on May 22 at the office of the Investigating Officer from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Gombak District Police Headquarters. The charge, framed under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, is punishable under the same section and provides for a maximum sentence of up to three years in jail, a fine, or both upon conviction. Deputy Public Prosecutor Birr Zamier Abu Bakar led the prosecution, while lawyers Nabil Ashraff Ridzuan and Muhammad Zulhaniff Mohamed Anas represented the accused. Pleading for a lower bail, Nabil Ashraff argued that his client had lost his source of income as an influencer after many content-related contracts had been terminated. 'He also supports his father works as a factory worker. My client lives with his family, including his grandparents who are 74 and 77 years old, respectively,' said the lawyer. Magistrate Chai Guan Hock granted the accused RM3,000 bail with one surety and set September 30 for case mention and submission of documents. Yesterday, Muhamad Iqbal was charged with committing sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl in May, under Section 15(a)(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. — Bernama

Influencer ‘CEO Batu' claims trial to possessing lewd content

Social media influencer Iqbal Muhammad was charged at the Selayang magistrates' court. KUALA LUMPUR : Social media influencer 'CEO Batu', charged yesterday with indecently exposing himself to a minor, was today slapped with an additional charge of possessing pornographic material. Iqbal Muhammad, 22, claimed trial to the latest charge at the Selayang magistrates' court. He arrived at court this morning accompanied by several family members and was seen giving a thumbs-up to the media as he entered the courtroom. Iqbal is accused of possessing pornographic videos and images allegedly found on his mobile phone during an inspection at the Gombak district police headquarters at around 11.30am on May 22. He was charged under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of three years' jail, a fine, or both, upon conviction. Magistrate Chai Guan Hock fixed bail at RM3,000 with one surety. Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Birr Zamier Abu Bakar proposed bail at RM6,000. However, Iqbal's lawyer Nabil Ashraff Ridzuan sought to halve the sum, citing financial constraints faced by his client. 'The accused earned about RM3,000 a month as an influencer. But since the case surfaced, he has lost his income as many of his content contracts have been terminated,' he said. Nabil said Iqbal was also supporting his younger brother, who suffers from breathing difficulties, and his 74-year-old grandfather who requires regular check-ups at the National Heart Institute. The court set Sept 30 for mention.

'CEO Batu' charged again, for possessing obscene materials

PETALING JAYA: Social media influencer known as 'CEO Batu' has pleaded not guilty at the Magistrates' Court here on Friday (July 11) to a charge of possessing obscene videos and images on his mobile phone two months ago. 'CEO Batu', whose real name is Muhamad Iqbal Muhamad Nor, 22, entered the plea after the charge was read before magistrate Chai Guan Hock. 'Not guilty and I request to be tried,' said the accused. According to the charge, he was accused of storing pornographic materials in the gallery of his mobile phone while at the office of an investigating officer at the Gombak district police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department, at 11:39am on 22 May. He was charged under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to three years, or a fine, or both, if convicted. During proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Birr Zamier Abu Bakar proposed bail at RM6,000 with one surety. However, defence lawyer Nabil Ashraff Ridzuan requested that bail be set at the minimum rate, stating that his client had suffered nerve issues following an accident. 'Muhamad Iqbal's income as a social media influencer has also been affected, as many contracts were terminated due to this case. 'He also helps support his parents and four siblings, as well as his elderly grandparents who are in poor health,' said the lawyer, who appeared with another counsel, Muhammad Zulhaniff Mohamed Anas. After hearing both sides, magistrate Chai allowed bail at RM3,000 with one surety and set the next mention for 30 September. Earlier on Thursday, the accused had also pleaded not guilty to a separate charge of non-physical sexual assault, for allegedly exposing his genitals to a 13-year-old girl in May. Previously, several screenshots of sexually explicit messages allegedly sent by the influencer to the underage girl had gone viral on social media.
