'Released Kaizer Chiefs striker has similar style to Erling Haaland'
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Fees Moloi says Ranga Chivaviro did not meet expectations at Amakhosi but feels he could have done more for the club.
The 32-year-old big forward was released by the club on Wednesday after just two seasons. Ranga scored just nine goals in 45 matches during his time at Naturena.
Speaking to KickOff, Moloi said that Chivaviro did not play to his full potential, hence Kaizer Chiefs decided not to renew his contract.
'While I cannot say I'm disappointed he's gone, it's true that he didn't meet expectations,' he told KickOff.com.
'However, I also cannot say he failed at Chiefs. We can only conclude that he didn't meet the coach's expectations and didn't play to his full potential.
'Perhaps Nabi is not the type of coach who prefers a target man, and Chivaviro was just used because he was already part of the club's strike force.
'The injuries reported (about him) when he joined Chiefs might have negatively affected his performances. Now that the season is over, the coach is releasing him to make room for new strikers who might be signed.
'I believe Chivaviro is a target man,' the ex-Kaizer Chiefs star added.
'He holds the ball for teammates and has a style similar to Erling Haaland. He makes effective movements outside the box.
'With his height and power, Chivaviro could be deadly inside the box. However, sometimes he finds himself on the left or right, running away from the box.
'If he had remained positioned in the box, he could have scored many goals.'
Despite Chivaviro, Kaizer Chiefs parted ways with Njabulo Blom and Sabelo Radebe.

Latest:Saleng stays at Orlando Pirates or moving to Kaizer Chiefs?
Orlando Pirates have already made some big player decisions this close window, with Monnapule Saleng potentially next on the list. Saleng has been isolated from the Pirates first team for the whole of 2025, with rumours he'll join Kaizer Chiefs. He last played for Pirates in December 2024, in a CAF Champions League game against Al Ahly. Even in that game, Saleng's involvement from he start was a bit of a surprise, as he had been MIA for a while prior. It then quickly became apparent that there was something wrong between club and player. It was uncovered that Saleng was not happy with his contract situation at Pirates. The speedy winger then resurfaced with Bafana Bafana and was part of their first leg CHAN win over Egypt. He then made headlines for the wrong reasons, again, when he failed to join their camp ahead of the way leg. Even though he was pictured back at training with Pirates towards the end of the season, Saleng's still in limbo. Despite rumours that he has joined arch rivals Chiefs on a pre-contract, there's still no confirmation on that. And now according to Soccer-Laduma , there's still a glimmer of hope that he remains a Buccaneers instead! 'The club is busy with preparations for next season, and you can expect more players to be allowed to move on to make space for new signings. He (Saleng) is one of the players the club is currently busy with regarding his future. But from what I understand, there is a slight chance for him to stay – if the parties manage to sort out their differences. If not, then anything could happen. At the end of the day, he needs to get back on the field and play. The club loves the boy, and he loves the club – it's just that there were issues that needed to be sorted out, which affected his progress this season,' said the source. Pirates fans would you be happy with Saleng staying? Chiefs fans, are you still hopefully he joins? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Big call for Pitso to return to Sundowns
Mamelodi Sundowns seemingly moved on from the CAF Champions League final heartbreak at the hands of Pyramids FC. However, the club's former winger, Anthony Laffor, is clearly not a fan of coach Miguel Cardoso and the political dynamics inside the club. The Liberian was part of the only Sundowns squad to win the club's only CAF Champions League title in 2016. According to Laffor, Sundowns' former coach, Pitso Mosimane, who brought the title to Chloorkop, needs to be re-appointed at Kabo Yellow. Let us put football politics aside,' Laffor called out on his Instagram account. 'It's about that time Pitso Mosimane comes back home. Only he knows how to coach Sundowns. I've been there, I know exactly what I'm talking about,' Laffor concluded. Kaizer Chiefs eye Slovakian forward but fans not impressed
Kaizer Chiefs have set their sights on Slovakian attacker Robert Polievka, currently playing for MTK Budapest in Hungary, according to Sportswire . The club aims to strengthen its front line ahead of a crucial season, with continental football on the horizon. However, the pursuit won't come cheap. Polievka remains under contract with MTK Budapest until 2027, meaning Amakhosi will need to pay a transfer fee to secure his services. Despite being a forward, Polievka's goal return does little to inspire confidence. He has managed just four goals in 26 matches across all competitions, a tally far from what Chiefs supporters might expect from a potential frontline spearhead. Kaizer Chiefs find themselves in need of a proven centre-forward after parting ways with Ranga Chivaviro. The former Marumo Gallants striker looked promising early last season, netting two goals in his first three appearances. However, his game time dwindled as the season progressed, prompting the club to allow his contract to lapse at the end of June. Amakhosi will be desperate to avoid another disappointing league campaign. They finished ninth this past season, missing out on a top-eight finish for the second year running. The club's leading scorers, Wandile Duba and Glody Lilepo, only managed five goals each, with Lilepo joining midway through the season. There's renewed optimism at Naturena following their Nedbank Cup triumph, which ended a decade-long trophy drought. The victory also secured Chiefs a spot in next season's CAF Confederation Cup, heightening the urgency to reinforce the squad with quality signings. 'We're looking to better our attack and Polievka is one of the players we're monitoring closely for a while,' a source revealed. Should Kaizer Chiefs sign Robert Polievka?
