Seahawks' 3 most exciting potential Week 1 opponents
The NFL will release the full 2025 season schedule in a televised primetime event on Wednesday evening. The Seattle Seahawks have had their complete opponents list for a while now, but the order of their Week 1-18 matchups will be officially revealed. With that in mind, we've hand-picked our three favorite potential Week 1 opponents.
San Francisco 49ers (at Lumen Field)
Radio host Dave "Softy" Mahler is reporting that the Seahawks will open the 2025 season at home against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, September 7th. If true, it would mark the fourth consecutive campaign the Seahawks have opened at Lumen Field. Last year, Seattle lost 36-24 at home to San Francisco, their third-straight loss to their NFC West rival at Lumen FIeld.
New Orleans Saints (at Lumen Field)
Former New Orleans Saints starting quarterback Derek Carr recently announced his retirement due to a chronic shoulder injury. First-year head coach Kellen Moore will now oversee a three-man position battle between inexperienced quarterbacks Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler, and Jake Haener. That would make the Saints an appetizing Week 1 matchup.
Jacksonville Jaguars (at EverBank Stadium)
You typically prefer to start at home, but if the Seahawks start on the road, a friendly environment at EverBank Stadium would be ideal. The Jacksonville Jaguars have an inexperienced first-year head coach in Liam Coen. Mike Macdonald would like his chances against an unpredictable Jaguars squad.

Arizona Cardinals C Hjalte Froholdt top-ranked center in NFC West by far

Arizona Cardinals C Hjalte Froholdt top-ranked center in NFC West by far Froholdt is the No. 10 center in the NFL, according to PFF. No other NFC West center is higher than No. 19. The offseason is for lists and rankings will continue for months, and we have new players rankings at center from Pro Football Focus. PFF ranked the 32 starting centers. Arizona Cardinals center Hjalte Froholdt ranked 10th in the NFL. But how does that stack up with the rest of the centers in the NFC West? He actually is the top-ranked center in the division by far. NFC West centers ranked by PFF Analysis When was the last time we could say the Cardinals had the best center in the division? Lyle Sendlein was solid but probably never reached that level comparatively. The fact that he is far and away the top-ranked center in the division is fun for fans. Seattle's whole offensive line has questions except at left tackle. Oluwatimi has room to improve as a young player. Brendel and Shelton are serviceable. Ranking the top 20 sacks leaders in New Orleans Saints franchise history

Ranking the top 20 sacks leaders in New Orleans Saints franchise history Cameron Jordan finds himself on the heels of a Hall of Famer Our top-20 series continues as we shift to the defensive side of the ball, highlighting the New Orleans Saints' all-time sack leaders. This list features some of the most disruptive forces to ever wear the black and gold — players who built their legacies by living in opponents' backfields. A current All-Pro linebacker makes a surprise appearance at the 20th spot, while a pair of beloved fan favorites sit near the top, each playing a key role in establishing the dominant defenses of the Sean Payton era. And at the very top, another active Saint is on the brink of history, needing just two more sacks to pass a Pro Football Hall of Famer and claim the franchise record. At least unofficially. Before we get into the list, we should note that sacks have only been tracked officially since 1982. But the team at Pro Football Reference went back further and did the work to chart sacks in years beyond that. That's why Rickey Jackson (who had 8 unofficial sacks in his 1981 rookie season) still places ahead of Cameron Jordan, who was officially named the franchise sacks leader during the 2022 season. So while this is an unofficial list, as PFR's work has not been double-checked by the NFL, ESPN, or another major outlet, it's still worth remembering the guys who made key plays before they were given full credit for it. Here are the (unofficial) top 20 sack leaders in New Orleans Saints history: 1. Rickey Jackson (1981-1993): 123 sacks 2. Cameron Jordan (2011-2024): 121.5 sacks 3. Wayne Martin (1989-1999): 82.5 sacks 4. Pat Swilling (1986-1992): 76.5 sacks 5. Will Smith (2004-2012): 67.5 sacks 6. Frank Warren (1981-1994): 56 sacks 7. Joe Johnson (1994-2001): 50.5 sacks 8. La'Roi Glover (1997-2001): 50 sacks 9. Jim Wilks (1981-1993): 49 sacks 10. Derland Moore: (1973-1985): 48 sacks 11. Charles Grant (2002-2009): 47 sacks Tied-12. Darren Howard (2000-2005): 44.5 sacks Tied-12. Renaldo Turnbull (1990-1996): 44.5 sacks 14. Elois Grooms (1975-1981): 42.5 sacks 15. Bruce Clark (1982-1988): 39.5 sacks 16. Joe Owens (1971-1975): 38 sacks 17. Bob Pollard (1971-1977): 37 sacks 18. Elex Price (1973-1980): 32 sacks 19. Junior Galette (2010-2014): 31.5 sacks 20. Demario Davis (2018-2024): 31 sacks

Familiar faces make visit to Seahawks OTAs

OTAs represent a great opportunity for old coaches and familiar faces to visit previous stomping grounds. The Seattle Seahawks hosted a pair of intriguing retired coaches on visits at Thursday's OTA practice. Gary Kubiak and Jim Zorn were both in attendance, according to photos captured by Bob Condotta. The legendary Kubiak officially retired from coaching in 2021 after 29 successful years in the profession. He never coached for the Seahawks, but his son Klint Kubiak is the team's new offensive coordinator and play-caller. The elder Kubiak was likely checking in with how his son is acclimating to his new surroundings. Advertisement The Kubiak's coached together with the Denver Broncos in 2016. They reunited with the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 for two seasons (through 2020). Klint Kubiak has since flourished, climbing the coaching ladder before landing in Seattle as OC earlier this offseason. The 72-year-old Zorn was a star quarterback for the Seahawks from 1976 to 1984, establishing a legendary connection with franchise legend Steve Largent. Zorn was inducted into the team's Ring of Honor in 1991. He later had two separate coaching stints with the Seahawks, first as an offensive assistant in 1997, and then as quarterbacks coach from 2001 to 2007.
