Familiar faces make visit to Seahawks OTAs
OTAs represent a great opportunity for old coaches and familiar faces to visit previous stomping grounds. The Seattle Seahawks hosted a pair of intriguing retired coaches on visits at Thursday's OTA practice. Gary Kubiak and Jim Zorn were both in attendance, according to photos captured by Bob Condotta.
The legendary Kubiak officially retired from coaching in 2021 after 29 successful years in the profession. He never coached for the Seahawks, but his son Klint Kubiak is the team's new offensive coordinator and play-caller. The elder Kubiak was likely checking in with how his son is acclimating to his new surroundings.

The Kubiak's coached together with the Denver Broncos in 2016. They reunited with the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 for two seasons (through 2020). Klint Kubiak has since flourished, climbing the coaching ladder before landing in Seattle as OC earlier this offseason.
The 72-year-old Zorn was a star quarterback for the Seahawks from 1976 to 1984, establishing a legendary connection with franchise legend Steve Largent. Zorn was inducted into the team's Ring of Honor in 1991. He later had two separate coaching stints with the Seahawks, first as an offensive assistant in 1997, and then as quarterbacks coach from 2001 to 2007.

While speaking to reporters on Thursday, Broncos head coach Sean Payton confirmed his plan to have Barron occupy a versatile role in the team's secondary. "He's extremely smart, and he played both at Texas. His instincts are real, real high, so you can give him more than, maybe, some other younger player at the same position," Payton said. "Some guys, you might say, 'Hey, let's leave just him at left corner or right corner before we do it.' He's one of those players that can handle volume." Advertisement "I don't have the same vision that I did for Malcolm. Malcolm came in in '09, played nickel and then went to safety," Payton said. "Now, I'm not saying he couldn't in a pinch, but the vision for him is corner, inside and outside." Barron was the first defensive back taken off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft, a fitting accolade after he won the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given annually to the top defensive back in college football. His final season with the Longhorns in 2024 also included consensus All-American nominations, a spot on the All-SEC First Team and a trip to the College Football Playoff. It's usually a good time for disgruntled players to also try and make headway on new deals with their team. Advertisement The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a unique situation in regards to that. They don't really have any player in line for major contract extensions, yet have a very clear absence from OTAs that is turning heads. Haason Reddick, the former All-Pro with the Philadelphia Eagles, is on his third team in as many years. He signed a free agent deal with the Buccaneers for over $14 million - a stark decrease from the amount he has been looking for over the last few years. Even still, Reddick missed most of the 2024 season while holding out for a new contract with the New York Jets. It would make sense for him to show up and be dominant with his new team in Tampa Bay. That isn't what is happening, though. Reddick has remained away from the Buccaneers organization during voluntary workouts. Advertisement Bordering on the even further bizarre, Reddick posted a story on his Instagram of him working out titled "Great work day". Here's a question - why exactly isn't Reddick working out with his new team? Tampa Bay runs a different scheme than the Jets and Eagles do. Why does Reddick think he'll be able to pick that up easily? The reality is that Reddick has become a major enigma in NFL circles. The more he stays away from the team during the voluntary workout phase, the weirder this whole situation looks.
