Peru Present in the Metaverse of Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai

Yahoo20-05-2025
It is projected that the Peru Pavilion will attract around 2 million visitors through its virtual tour.
OSAKA, JP / / May 20, 2025 / Through a virtual tour with a video game format, Peru will showcase its cultural wealth and diversity in the 2025 edition of the Universal Expo held in Osaka-Kansai, Japan. This innovative experience marks a milestone in the history of Universal Expositions, by incorporating a metaverse with more than 150 countries involved.
The digital version of the Peru Pavilion will allow visitors to explore museum exhibits, traditional textiles, gastronomy, archaeological pieces, and interact with users from around the world. Among the emblematic elements that can be appreciated are the mask of the Lord of Sicán, the mantle of the Paracas culture, Nasca ceramics, jewels of the Lord of Sipán, and a space dedicated to the Archaeological Zone of Caral. All these elements have been digitized using photogrammetry, a technique that allows generating high-precision 3D models from photographs.
Under the slogan "Infinite Possibilities," the virtual pavilion invites users to discover the many facets of Peru: from its ancient cultural heritage and unique biodiversity to its innovative spirit and the warmth of its people. The proposal seeks to be a window to the past, present, and future of the country.
Access to the metaverse will be available through the "Virtual Expo" application, compatible with smartphones (iOS and Android), computers (Windows and Mac), and virtual reality devices such as Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3. This platform will be active during the six-month duration of the Expo, which ends on October 13, 2025.
An immersive experience from anywhere in the world
Inspired by the real island of Yumeshima, the metaverse of Expo 2025 recreates a digital archipelago that evokes the Japanese spirit. Upon entering, visitors will be able to create their avatar, be greeted by digital residents, and embark on an interactive journey that connects global users.
In this dynamic universe, participants will be able to explore, learn, and share their visions about the future of society, using interaction tools such as voice messages, chats, emojis, virtual dances, and more.

Enjoy a free visit to any national park on Great American Outdoors Day

Spending time outside in nature is synonymous with summertime, and to ensure Americans enjoy it to the fullest, the National Park Service is offering free admission to any of its parks for one day, in celebration of Great American Outdoors Day. What is Great American Outdoors Day? The NPS created this free park entrance day on Aug. 4 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the enactment of the Great American Outdoors Act. The legislation, described as "the single largest investment in public lands in U.S. history," was signed into law on Aug. 4, 2020, according to the Department of the Interior. "The Great American Outdoors Act ... is a historic investment in the protection and sustainment of our public lands and Bureau of Indian Education (BIE)-funded schools. GAOA established the National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund (GAOA LRF) to address overdue maintenance needs," the DOI states on its website. It adds, "By addressing the maintenance backlog, we help ensure that visitors and staff are safe and comfortable as they access our national parks, public lands and roads, national wildlife refuges, and BIE-funded schools." National Park Service celebrates Great American Outdoors Day with free admission While many national parks are typically free to visit, some require entry passes or fees, according to the NPS website. Busier parks may also require a reservation. However, on Monday, Aug. 4, to celebrate Great American Outdoors Day, the National Park Service is offering free admission to all parks, including those that typically require an entry fee. "Entrance fees will not be charged on August 4, 2025, in celebration of the Great American Outdoors Act's anniversary. Everyone is encouraged to visit parks to experience the benefits of GAOA projects," the NPS states. If you're interested in taking advantage of the free entry day, grab your hiking shoes, sunscreen, and reusable water bottles, and click here to search for a park near you to visit on Aug. 4.

It's Time to Add These 10 Peruvian-Owned Beauty & Fashion Brands to Your Cart

Peru's fashion roots run way deeper than the average trend cycle. Long before global runways, Indigenous communities like the Paracas and the Inca were weaving history, identity, and meaning into textiles using techniques passed down for generations. With natural fibers like alpaca and prima cotton, handwoven patterns, and natural dyes, Peruvian craftsmanship has quietly shaped the global fashion landscape for years. Designers all over the world have long looked to Peru for texture, quality, and inspiration — even if they haven't always credited where that inspiration came from. What's exciting today is that Peruvian-owned brands are stepping into the spotlight and telling their own stories. They're not just supplying materials or serving as inspiration to the rest of the world, but building their own fashion identities. Whether it's through reimagined traditional silhouettes, collaborations with local artisans, or the thoughtful use of native fibers, these brands are helping position Peru as a leader in global fashion.

Apukunapa Kutimuynin, an Anime Inspired by Andean Culture, to be Screened at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai

The promotional video for the project is being exhibited at the Peru Pavilion, in a space dedicated to the cultural connection between Peru and Japan. OSAKA, JAPAN / / June 5, 2025 / The trailer for the anime "Apukunapa Kutimuynin", developed by the international animation studio Ninakami, has been officially incorporated into the programming of the Peru Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai, one of the most important global events for cultural, economic, and diplomatic exchange. Inspired by the Andean cosmovision, "Apukunapa Kutimuynin" narrates the return of the Apus-protective deities-to the contemporary world. Its presence at the fair aligns with the Peru Pavilion's theme, "Infinite Possibilities," and its assignment within the sub-theme "Empowering Lives," reinforcing the value of cultural diversity as a driver of innovation, development, and social transformation. The project is led by Peruvian Omar Vallejos from Ninakami studio, who was present at the first screening that surprised Japanese visitors. "It is a great source of pride for me as a Peruvian and for the entire team, both Peruvian and international, to represent the cooperation between Peru and Japan. The reception we have had in general has been unexpected," he stated. The screening is held continuously on two large screens, located in the thematic area of the pavilion dedicated to the collaboration between Peru and Japan. This space, which is part of a multisensory and cultural journey, seeks to highlight the scientific, creative, and historical synergies that have strengthened this bilateral relationship. As part of the creative process, Omar Vallejos led exhaustive research into the iconography and symbology of Peruvian pre-Columbian cultures, with the aim of ensuring a respectful and faithful representation of religious and traditional symbols. This rigor is reflected in the anime's aesthetic, widely recognized for its visual and narrative authenticity. The participation of "Apukunapa Kutimuynin" at Expo 2025 reinforces Peru's commitment to promoting its cultural diversity as a key driver of development, global positioning, and shared pride.
