Food delivery rider dads at hospital to show support for Zara Qairina's family
P-hailing food riders Mohd Fazil Arifin, 30, and Reney Jamiul, 35, from Papar were among the hundreds eager to show their concern.
"I am from Papar, and the incident (of Zara who allegedly fell from a school building) also happened in the same district. That is why I come during my breaks.
"I care about this case as I have a daughter, aged 12, who is still in school. Bullying never ends, so with this case, we want bullies to be afraid of doing anything untoward," said Fazil, who arrived at 11am.
The 13-year-old student of SMKA Tun Mustapha in Papar was found unconscious on July 16 and declared dead the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Her death has raised concerns among many, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Zara's remains arrived at the hospital at 10.30pm yesterday for a CT scan and a post-mortem.
As for Reney, he has been staying in the hospital vicinity since midnight and slept at a bus stop near the hospital.
"I am tired, of course, but I am keen to know the latest developments."
Reney said that because of Zara's case, he was afraid of sending his child to a boarding school.
The duo also printed RM25 #justiceforzara stickers to be stuck on the food container box.
Zara's post-mortem is expected to be completed today.

Netizens worldwide rally for justice for Zara Qairina
KUALA LUMPUR : The death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir has resonated not just at home but has gained international attention, as people in a number of countries have come forth to express their outrage. In Singapore, Facebook page Death Kopitiam Singapore wrote: "The cries for help of a helpless girl. The cries of a community at her death. The disillusionment of a nation." Meanwhile, in Hatyai, Thailand, schoolgirls in uniform held up posters with Zara's face, emblazoned with the words "Justice for Zara." One Thai girl posted an especially emotional post dedicated to Zara. "I ask everyone from around the world to join in shouting for justice for our little sister. She was a Malaysian who was attacked and killed. "I pray that you receive justice, little one. May the perpetrator be caught, and may you rest in peace in a serene land. With love and concern from your Thai sister #Justiceforzara #justiceforzaraqairina," she wrote. Similarly, in Indonesia, students shared similar messages and posts online. As far away as the United Kingdom, a Twitter user, Andy (@andychester\_), voiced frustration at authorities: "The school, police, hospital and even the Sabah and Education Ministers all failed her from the start. Similar calls were made from people in Brunei, Philippines, South Korea, China, Japan, Cambodia, Myanmar and even Laos, reported a Malay daily earlier. KUALA LUMPUR: Sipitang member of parliament Datuk Matbali Musah could not hold back his tears in the Dewan Rakyat when speaking about the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, who was from his constituency. He said the 13-year-old should have been protected at school as it should be a safe environment for learning. "This child should have been protected at the safest place, the school where she sought knowledge," he said during the debate on the 13th Malaysia Plan today. He said it was time for anti-bullying legislation to be enacted. He said there should be clear guidelines to protect victims and strict action must be taken against perpetrators. Investigating officer did not follow procedures in Zara Qairina case: CID chief
Published on: Wednesday, August 13, 2025 Published on: Wed, Aug 13, 2025 By: Pan Eu Joe, FMT Text Size: KUALA LUMPUR: Police revealed today that the officer in charge of investigating the death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir failed to follow proper procedure by not requesting a post-mortem. Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director M Kumar ( pic ) said Zara's death occurred under suspicious circumstances, in which a post-mortem was warranted. 'Although Zara's mother had signed a statutory declaration declining a post-mortem, the investigating officer should have applied for one,' Kumar told a press conference at Bukit Aman police headquarters. He said the investigating officer and his superior would be referred to Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department for not following procedure by ordering a post-mortem. A task force from the Bukit Aman CID had been sent to Sabah to take over the investigation. Earlier today, the Attorney-General's Chambers ordered an inquest into Zara's death. Zara was found unconscious at 4am on July 16 after allegedly falling from the third floor of her school hostel in Papar, Sabah. She died at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital the following day. Her mother, Noraidah Lamat, lodged a police report on Aug 3, saying she noticed bruises on her daughter's back when preparing the body for burial. Kumar said the ongoing investigation by the task force in Sabah had uncovered elements suggesting that Zara may have been a victim of bullying before her death. He said police have recorded statements from 82 individuals. He also revealed that 124 students had undergone counselling following the incident. - FMT * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
