Cher's son Elijah Blue Allman is recovering in hospital after an apparent drug overdose.
Police were dispatched to his home in Landers, California, on Jube 14, after receiving a call that there was a man there who was 'acting erratically'.
When they arrived they found Elijah being examined by emergency medical personnel.
'Deputies located drugs inside the home and Allman was transported to the hospital,' a police statement said. 'The investigation is ongoing,'
Five days after his hospitalisation there still hadn't been any update on the 48-year-old's condition. However, a source close to Cher shared that the mother of two is 'doing everything she can to help her son and help him get well.'
This incident comes two months after Elijah's estranged wife, musician Marieangela King (37), professionally known as Queenie, filed for divorce for the second time – putting an end to their 12-year marriage.
Elijah, who is also known by his stage name P Exeter Blue and plays guitar in the rock band Deadsy, was spotted last month in Hollywood looking very disoriented. In disturbing footage, he was seen standing around outside a hotel with a torn grey t-shirt, low-hanging shorts and slip-on shoes. The musician was holding what looked like a lit cigarette and was sweating profusely as cars passed him. His ankles appeared swollen and he had a few cuts on his leg.
Elijah has always been open about his drug use and has often spoken about it.

'I started with drugs around the same time that we all did, around 11,' he said back in 2014.
'I mean, it's just what you did, it's just what everybody did.'
He also shared that he had some close calls with overdosing.
'I always kind of kept it a little bit safe but you never can do that,' he said. 'Even though you think that in your mind, of course, the wrong things can happen. The wrong combination of things can happen, and you can just slip into the abyss.'

Towards the end of 2023, Elijah and Cher made headlines after she filed for conservatorship of her son's affairs. The Believe singer said in the court papers that Elijah made $120 000 (R2,2 million) a year on his own and also had access to a trust fund created by his late father, singer Gregg Allman.
Cher, who also has a son, Chaz Bono (56), from her first marriage to Sonny Bono, said she was concerned Elijah would use all his money to buy drugs.
At the time, Elijah acknowledged his struggles 'with addiction' and that he 'spent money in ways that have not always been the most responsible'. However, he added that he was under the care of a doctor and was attending AA meetings.
'I recently passed a drug test and am willing to submit to future drug tests,' he said. 'I am clean and sober from illicit substances for over 90 days now and am fully capable of and committed to managing the money I receive quarterly from the trust left by my late father.'
The Strong Enough singer withdrew her conservatorship request after a nine-month court battle.
Cher has always described their relationship as 'bizarre'.
'We've had so many strange moments. I don't really understand him,' she said. 'Somehow Elijah and I kind of talk through osmosis. His mind is very expansive. He just dances to his own tune and doesn't really care.'
Marieangela released a statement in support of her ex-husband, who remains hospitalised.
'While it is true that Elijah has faced personal challenges in the past, one constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves,' she said. 'Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles – but it is important to recognise that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat.'
The singer says that even though she isn't married to Elijah anymore, she will continue to root for him.
'Despite the assumptions that often colour how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose.'
