Maoist ‘infiltrates' police, admin groups in Aurangabad

Aurangabad: Aurangabad was jolted by a sensational revelation after police found that a wanted Maoist had successfully infiltrated both the district administration's and police's media coordination groups on an instant messaging platform, police said on Thursday. The breach came to light on Wednesday when Gaya police arrested Alok Sharma, accused in two Maoist-related cases registered at Banke Bazar and Deo police stations. Police sources said Sharma had long been on their radar for his involvement in several major Maoist incidents in Gaya and Aurangabad and had even been arrested earlier in similar cases. What stunned officials was Sharma's digital masquerade. By slipping into the media coordination groups, he allegedly gained access to sensitive updates on police movements and administrative decisions in real time. His arrest exposed the infiltration, sparking a wave of alarm within both the police and the district administration. The fallout was swift. While the district administration merely deleted Sharma's number from its group, the Aurangabad police took an even more drastic step, scrapping their group altogether. In an official statement, the Aurangabad police admitted, "Due to the presence of certain undesirable people, all members have been removed and the official police media group has been closed." Officials confirmed that a new, more secure group would be created, restricted to verified members only. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Madhubani admin to invite online applications for lawyers' panel from Aug 25

Madhubani: In a move aimed at streamlining legal proceedings and ensuring timely responses in cases pending before the Patna high court, district administration has announced to constitute a dedicated panel of lawyers. This panel will handle matters including CWJC, MJC, and LPA cases. According to an official press release issued on Thursday, the administration will begin accepting online applications for inclusion in the panel starting Aug 25 via the district's official website. This initiative addresses persistent delays in the preparation of fact sheets and responses to court notices—delays that have often resulted in unfavourable judicial outcomes. The absence of a structured panel of lawyers has been identified as a key contributor to these issues. To ensure accountability and performance, a district-level committee constituted by the District Magistrate will conduct monthly evaluations of the lawyers' work. The panel list will be updated periodically based on these assessments. The committee also reserves the right to remove any lawyer from the panel without prior notice, as stated in the press release. 5 govt teachers sacked after 11 yrs of servicefor getting jobs on fake docus; BSA orders FIR

Meerut: UP Primary Education Board has sacked five govt teachers in Bulandshahr after a probe revealed that "they secured jobs using fake educational documents in 2014", said officials on Thursday. The Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA) has consequently ordered the registration of an FIR against them, while a recovery notice for the salary they withdrew during this period will be issued soon. BSA Laxmikant Pandey told TOI: "Verification work of teachers appointed after 2010 was going on, and after investigation and several rounds of checks by the department, marksheets of at least four assistant teachers were found to be computer-generated. It was found that they had tampered with the names and roll numbers of other candidates. Hence, on the basis of the probe report, their services were terminated." Notably, since the recruitment was merit-based, some aspirants inflated their scores by submitting forged marksheets and certificates to secure jobs, he said. The sacked teachers -- Pushpendra Kumar, Ashish Kumar, Dinesh Kumar and Ashish Kumar (all from Firozabad) -- got the job in 2014, and were posted as assistant teachers in schools of Dibai block, Bulandshahr. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo The salary recovery amount from the four teachers may be Rs 2 crore, an official said.
