Nova Water signs MoU with Saudi NCVC to plant 200,000 trees

Arab News21-06-2025
Nova Water, a bottled drinking water company, has signed an MoU with the Saudi National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification to plant 200,000 trees across the Kingdom by 2030.
This initiative underscores Nova's ongoing environmental mission to reduce its ecological footprint and protect local ecosystems — while directly contributing to the overarching goals of the Saudi Green Initiative. It marks the latest step taken by the company to combat desertification, advance the development of a sustainable water ecosystem and safeguard the Kingdom's future.
The agreement was officially signed by Dr. Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Abdulqader, CEO of NCVC, and Sulayman Serdar Seyhanli, CEO of Nova Water. The collaboration focuses on four core areas: identifying key locations for reforestation, prioritizing the use of native plant species, engaging Nova employees in afforestation activities, and supporting the rehabilitation of Saad National Park, located near the company's facilities in Rumah, 120 km east of Riyadh.
Seyhanli said: 'At Nova Water, we understand the importance of implementing innovative environmental solutions in the water sector. Our agreement with the NCVC is a testament to our unwavering support for national sustainability initiatives. Together, we are building a greener future while aligning with the ambitions of Vision 2030 and contributing to the protection and expansion of the Kingdom's natural green cover.'
He added: 'As a natural partner of the Saudi Green Initiative, this agreement represents a carefully planned execution strategy — covering irrigation, planting, and the ongoing care of seedlings across agreed-upon areas.'
Our reforestation efforts will span the next six years, from 2025 through to 2030, and will culminate in the successful planting of 200,000 trees and shrubs across Saudi Arabia. We are fully committed to seeing this goal through.'
This ambitious program seeks to create long-term environmental and social impact, including restoring native wildlife habitats, rehabilitating decertified lands, and enhancing biodiversity. Ultimately, it will support rainfall regeneration, provide shelter and food for local fauna, and contribute to rebalancing fragile ecosystems — which are the very objectives the NCVC was established to fulfill since its inception in 2021.

Dar Global Unveils $12.5 Billion Expansion Drive with Major Saudi Projects

Dar Global, the London-listed real estate developer, announced on Monday strategic expansions into the broader capital markets, raising the Group's Gross Development Value to approximately $12.5 billion, up by 67%. The company said it secured a new significant joint development agreement with Dar Al Arkan and completed strategic land acquisitions for large-scale projects in Riyadh and Jeddah with a combined GDV of around $4.8 billion. In Riyadh, the company said it secured development rights through partial land acquisition and joint development agreement over a major integrated scheme valued at $2.8 billion, anchored by a $300 million land acquisition. In Jeddah, a further joint development agreement covers a landmark mixed-use project on one of the city's most prominent land parcels, with an estimated GDV of $1.95 billion. The expansion capitalizes on Saudi Arabia's rapid economic transformation, as it opens up to foreign ownership and the sustained demand for world-class real estate in the Kingdom, Dar Global said. These are significant parcels of land with the opportunity to develop luxury villas, a world-class golf course and a luxury hotel, it added. To fuel this growth, Dar Global said it increased its Litmus financing facility from $275 million to $440 million, adding $165 million in fresh liquidity. The expansion was underwritten by a consortium of prominent regional banks, including Emirates NBD and supported by ADCB, FAB and Zand Bank. 'This enhanced liquidity will accelerate the Company's existing projects and enable greater flexibility in pursuing new opportunities across the Middle East, Europe and North America, reinforcing long‑term resilience and execution capacity,' the company said. Also, Dar Global said it is acquiring a licensed financial services company in the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC). The entity is authorized to provide a wide suite of services, including asset management, investment banking, and advisory activities. Operated as an independent subsidiary with its own governance structure, the platform will allow the company to broaden its revenue streams and reduce reliance on development cycles. 'These milestones mark an important inflection point for Dar Global. In Saudi Arabia, we are delivering landmark projects in prime locations and looking to bring in more overseas investment as the Kingdom opens up,' said Ziad El Chaar, CEO of Dar Global. 'The enhanced financing facility reinforces our balance sheet to fuel growth at scale and the establishment of a financial services arm in DIFC enhances our ability to structure capital and unlock global opportunities that previously would not have been available to the Group,' he added. El Chaar also noted that these initiatives reflect not just confidence in the company's strategy, 'but also the unique position we occupy as a bridge between high-growth markets and international investors.'

Dusit expands Saudi portfolio with new resort in Al-Ahsa

Thai hospitality company Dusit International has signed a hotel management agreement with Al-Ghadeer Group to operate dusitD2 Al-Ahsa — a new upper-upscale resort in the heart of Al-Ahsa Oasis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. The signing ceremony was held under the patronage of Al-Ahsa Gov. Prince Saud bin Talal, and was attended by notable dignitaries including Naif Al-Madi, chief business officer of the Tourism Development Fund; Sheikh Bassem Al-Ghadeer, chairman of Al-Ghadeer Group of Companies; and Gilles Cretallaz, chief operating officer of Dusit International. Located just 30 minutes by car from Al-Ahsa International Airport and 90 minutes from Dammam, dusitD2 Al-Ahsa is set amidst palm-fringed landscapes and dramatic mountain vistas. The resort will offer 120 spacious suites, ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom configurations, each with a private terrace and plunge pool, providing an elevated sense of privacy and relaxation. Designed by Cairo-based El-Ghoneimi Architects, the resort's masterplan draws inspiration from the desert's timeless beauty, the nearby mountains, and the life-giving symbolism of the palm tree. Guests will enjoy a comprehensive range of premium facilities, including a wellness center with private treatment rooms, meditation areas, and dedicated spaces for yoga and holistic healing; an elegant 1,500-square-meter ballroom and expansive outdoor event lawn for weddings and large social or corporate gatherings; well-equipped meeting rooms for business travelers; a vibrant all-day dining restaurant; a lobby café offering light gourmet fare; a large outdoor swimming pool with an adjoining kids' pool; and a dedicated kids club providing engaging activities in a safe and stimulating environment. Surrounded by cultural and ecological treasures such as Al-Qarah Mountain, Juatha Park, and the historic Qaisariah Souq, the resort is ideally positioned to serve as a gateway for domestic and international travelers seeking meaningful experiences and immersive stays amid the largest oasis in the world. 'This important signing reflects our strategic commitment to bringing Dusit's unique brand of Thai-inspired, gracious hospitality to key destinations worldwide and our dedication to delivering sustainable value for the communities we serve,' said Cretallaz. 'We are delighted to partner with Al-Ghadeer Group to create a destination that celebrates Al-Ahsa's rich heritage and natural beauty while offering exceptional comfort, modern luxury, responsible design, and memorable experiences for guests of all ages.' Set to open in 2027, dusitD2 Al-Ahsa underscores Dusit International's continued expansion in the Middle East, where the company currently operates nine properties and continues to explore opportunities to deliver holistic hospitality experiences across the region. It is the second Dusit-branded property confirmed for Saudi Arabia, following the upcoming opening of Dusit Princess Al-Majma'ah, Riyadh, scheduled for Q4 this year.
