Finally. It's finally happened.
NFL veteran and now-journeyman quarterback Aaron Rodgers has finally agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of mandatory minicamp next week, per reports.

Are Steelers fans finally exhaling after holding their collective breaths for months? Should they? Is this really a good thing for Pittsburgh?
Let's look at what the Steelers are getting with a 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers, who seemingly failed in New York with the Jets last season.
Rodgers, who turns 42 in December, led the Jets to a 5-12 mark in his only full season in New York. Don't forget (Jets fans won't) that he missed all but four plays of the 2023 campaign after rupturing his Achilles on the first drive of the first game after joining the team two offseasons ago.
Last season should be one to forget for Rodgers. He finished below the league average in passer rating - a stat of which he's the all-time career leader, and 31st in the league in QBR - behind names like Aidan O'Connell and Kirk Cousins.

His five wins last season are his lowest win total since 2017, when he played just seven games for Green Bay and posted a 4-3 mark.
Rodgers' previous low win total was six, which he posted three times since taking over as the Packers' starting quarterback in 2008.
Could it be that Steelers fans are still enamored by his name? His past? His 10 Pro Bowls? His four NFL MVPs?
We're not sure.
We're also not sure this is what Pittsburgh thinks it's signed up for, but it shouldn't take long to figure out what he's got left in the tank - if anything.
We just hope it lasts longer than four plays.

Skip Bayless unleashes on Steelers for bringing in 'blame-deflecting diva' Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers waited until the sixth round to select a quarterback in April's NFL Draft. But, after drafting former Ohio State quarterback Will Howard, the Steelers quarterback room still featured more questions than answers. This week, Pittsburgh appears to have found a short-term solution to its signal caller concerns. The four-time NFL MVP agreed to a one-year contract, the Steelers confirmed. The 41-year-old quarterback is expected to attend the team's mandatory minicamp next week. While the signing was met with both praise and criticism, Skip Bayless made his feelings about the Steelers decision clear. In a video posted to his social media platform, Bayless characterized Rodgers as a "diva" and suggested the veteran quarterback did not have much left in the tank. "He was washed his last three years in Green Bay," Bayless said. "Go look at the numbers of his last three playoff games in Green Bay … I told the Jets he was washed." Bayless then offered a pun, claiming Rodgers would "steal from the Steelers." A bewildered Bayless then questioned the state of the storied franchise. "What has become of the Pittsburgh Steelers?" he continued. "I don't hate them anymore, I pity them." The Steelers finished last season with a 10-7 record. Longtime head coach Mike Tomlin has never finished a regular season with a losing record. The Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round loss to the Baltimore Ravens in January. Justin Fields started the first five games of the Steelers' 2024 campaign, before Russell Wilson took over. Fields signed with the Jets earlier this offseason, while Wilson landed with the New York Giants. Rodgers hasn't taken a team to the playoffs since he left Green Bay. January 2022 marked Rodgers' last postseason appearance. The Packers suffered a 13-10 loss in the divisional round in that game. After suffering a season-ending injury in the first game of the 2023 season, Rodgers appeared in all 17 games in 2024. He finished the year with 3,897 passing yards and 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. After spending the 2024 season with the Tennessee Titans, the Steelers brought back Mason Rudolph. Skylar Thompson was also on the roster, but neither quarterback was viewed as the primary starter entering 2025. Former Cowboys Star Has Major Praise for Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Deal

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. It took a while, but the Pittsburgh Steelers have finally completed their quest to land Aaron Rodgers. Earlier this week, the veteran quarterback reportedly inked a one-year deal to join the Pennsylvania-based franchise. Although the move was expected, it still came with a lot of critical comments and discussion. Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant made a handful of comments of his own on the move. First, Bryant came off as critical. When the former Pro Bowl wideout came across a post on X that suggested the signing of Rodgers was ironic, considering the Steelers just moved off of George Pickens for reportedly causing issues behind the scenes, Bryant came in agreement to defend the new Cowboys wideout. However, the former Cowboys star doesn't believe the Rodgers-Steelers pairing is a bad one. In fact, Bryant took to social media to confidently state that he believes Rodgers will find success with the Steelers. When one fan questioned Bryant's sentiment, the former wide receiver explained his belief. "I think Aaron Rodgers will have success because he's going to be able to implement the things he's comfortable with and control the offense the way he wants," Bryant said. Some more pushback was added from the fans. I think Aaron Rodgers is going to ball in Pittsburgh. — Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) June 6, 2025 What was different with the New York Jets? Rodgers had a lot of say in what went on in New York, and even convinced the team to bring some familiar faces from his Green Bay Packers days in the building to help him out. Yet, the results weren't ideal. In Bryant's eyes, it was less of a Rodgers problem. "The Jets football culture has been trash for the last two decades," the former Cowboy claimed. For what it's worth, Bryant believes that Rodgers' exit will give the Jets some much-needed fresh air. "I am really looking forward to the Jets this year," Bryant added. "Everything feels recharged over there. I'm also looking forward to Justin Fields finally getting a real shot to show he's a top-tier QB." The 2025 NFL season will be make-or-break for the 41-year-old Rodgers at this point in his career. It's unclear how many more seasons he plans to play, but another struggle-filled year with the Steelers would certainly shy every other quarterback-needy team away from him moving forward after he struggled to uplift the Jets over the past two years. Pittsburgh will soon see if Bryant's analysis is right.

Cowboys And 'NFL's Best' George Pickens Have Glorious Contract Chance

Cowboys And 'NFL's Best' George Pickens Have Glorious Contract Chance originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When the Dallas Cowboys traded for Pittsburgh Steelers receiver George Pickens, there was a collective sigh of relief with the franchise finally getting Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb help. Advertisement However, upon closer examination, we discovered that Pickens would be playing on the final year of his rookie deal, meaning a payday is coming in 12 months' time. Granted, that is great for Dallas. Why? Because Brian Schottenheimer gets a motivated player, and the hope is that he can continue his trajectory towards being a top receiver in football, with the Cowboys benefiting from it. And for senior researcher Anthony Holzman-Escareno, he's picked George to be one player who could reset the market next offseason. "Pickens has averaged an NFL-best 16.3 yards per reception since entering the NFL in 2022 (minimum 150 catches)," Holzman-Escareno writes. "His 515 deep receiving yards (throws of 20-plus air yards) ranked second in the league last season. Pickens could play his way into a huge contract next offseason with a big year after being dealt from the Steelers to the Cowboys." George Pickens At AttBy Tony Fisher For Pickens to command nearly $30 million APY, he will have to, we expect, surpass 1,000 yards and have a handful of touchdowns opposite Lamb. Advertisement Is that doable? Absolutely. But he will be sharing targets; in fact, CeeDee will be the lion's share of them. Plus, Schottenheimer wants to be a run-first football team, meaning plays will also get eaten up by the run game. Still, Pickens has the talent to make it work with the best quarterback he's had in his NFL career, and an offense that feels more pass-happy than Pittsburgh's. It's all on George in 2025. Play well, and you'll be handsomely rewarded ... but we aren't sure he'll reset the receiver market.
