Seattle Mariners Shut Down Bryce Miller With Arm Issue

Yahoo16-05-2025

Bryce Miller's last start for the Seattle Mariners was Mother's Day at T-Mobile Park against the Toronto Blue Jays. He was belted for seven runs on eight hits through five innings pitched.
In the postgame, Miller stated that he has been experiencing some arm soreness and back tightness on and off during the season. He's been placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

In his 2025 campaign so far, Miller has racked up a record of 2-4 through eight games, a 5.22 ERA over 39.2 innings pitched, and 35 punchouts with a 1.54 WHIP.
In the corresponding move, the M's recalled left-hander Jhonathan Díaz from the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. Díaz has only appeared in one game in 2025, and pitched 1.1 innings in relief and recorded a strikeout on April 1.
So far, through seven appearances for the Rainiers, Díaz has a 2-3 record with a 5.87 ERA over 30.2 innings pitched and 27 punchouts with a 1.47 WHIP.
Another crucial blow to this already battered Seattle rotation as Miller becomes the third M's pitcher to land on the IL behind Logan Gilbert and George Kirby.

Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift enjoy rare night out at Stanley Cup Final Game 4

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift might be enchanted with hockey now. The star couple was on hand at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Panthers and Oilers. Kelce wore a red top with red shorts as he rocked a white and red 'Palm Tree Crew' Panthers hat while Swift appeared to keep her look neutral in an off-white top and bottom. Advertisement Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce attend Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final Swift, 35, has had plenty of viral hockey moments in life, including a reveal of the 2009-10 Predators then-new third jerseys during a concert in Nashville and, four years later, taking a picture with former Hurricanes star Joel Skinner, even holding up his jersey. She also donned Islanders gear in a skit with Jimmy Fallon for the 'Tonight Show' in 2015. Advertisement Kelce, who previously posted about his love of playoff hockey, and his brother Jason debated in October on the 'New Heights' podcast about which NHL players could also play in the NFL, and they named Oilers star Connor McDavid as one who could. In April, a source told Page Six that Swift and Kelce have enjoyed a 'special' offseason, which has largely been low-key after the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Eagles. 'They are making the most of their time off together. They are hanging out with friends, too. It's a special time for them,' the source said. Advertisement The two were spotted last month in Philadelphia to celebrate Mother's Day, though before that, they opted out of the Met Gala in New York due to scheduling issues. Taylor Swift celebrates with Travis Kelce #87 of the Kansas City Chiefs after defeating the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on January 26, 2025 in Kansas City, Missouri. Getty Images Kelce, who announced earlier this offseason that he is coming back to the Chiefs for at least one more year, will likely have more of Swift at games this year as she is not touring this coming season. Advertisement 'Taylor is really looking forward to the upcoming NFL season,' a source told People on Thursday. Not just because she loves supporting Travis, but because for the first full season since they started dating, she's not juggling a packed tour schedule. 'This fall will be completely different. It's the first season where she's not constantly flying back and forth or working around an entire touring calendar.' The Panthers entered Game 4 leading the series 2-1.

Blue Jays Announce Ernie Clement News After Leaving Cardinals Game

Blue Jays Announce Ernie Clement News After Leaving Cardinals Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Toronto Blue Jays completed a three-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday with a 5-2 victory, keeping pace in the American League postseason picture. The win improved the Blue Jays to 38-30 on the season, as they have now won eight of their last 10 games. Advertisement Wednesday's offense was fueled by Ernie Clement, who went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the fifth inning that provided a crucial insurance run. His fourth homer of the season continued his dominance against left-handed pitching. Starter Eric Lauer held the Cardinals to two runs over 4.1 innings, backed by effective relief outings from Spencer Turnbull and Brendon Little to close out the win. Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Ernie Clement (22)© Mike Watters-Imagn Images However, the celebration was tempered when Clement exited the game in the ninth inning. He was replaced defensively at third base by Addison Barger. Following the game, the Blue Jays announced via manager John Schneider that Clement is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury (via Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith). Advertisement Schneider downplayed the severity, telling reporters of Clement, "Being that he's a hockey fan, we're going to call it a lower-body injury." This season, Clement has been a versatile spark plug for the Blue Jays. He has provided key offensive and defensive performances for the Blue Jays in recent games, including a five-RBI game in a 12-0 win over the Athletics on May 29. His absence, even briefly, could impact the lineup's flexibility as the Blue Jays prepare to kick off a series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
