Results, points after Watkins Glen as Shane van Gisbergen enjoys another historic victory
The Trackhouse Racing driver joined Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon as the only drivers in Cup history to win four consecutive races on road or street courses, and van Gisbergen also set a rookie record with his fourth win (breaking a mark he shared with Davey Allison, Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson).
The winningest foreign-born driver in NASCAR history, the Auckland, New Zealand, native won by 11.116 seconds over Chris Buescher, the second-largest margin of victory in Watkins Glen history.

Tied with Denny Hamlin for the series lead in victories, van Gisbergen is the second seed for the Cup playoffs with two races remaining in the regular season.
In the regular-season points standings, William Byron increased his lead to 42 points over Hendrick Motorsports teammate Chase Elliott with a fourth-place finish at Watkins Glen.
In the battle among winless drivers for the final playoff spots, Tyler Reddick has a 117-point lead on the cutline, followed by Alex Bowman (plus-60) and Chris Buescher (plus-34 over Roush Fenway Keselowski teammate Ryan Preece.

Howard scores 25 as Dream beat Storm for their sixth straight win
SEATTLE (AP) — Rhyne Howard scored 25 points, Allisha Gray had 22 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double this season, and the Atlanta Dream won their sixth straight, 85-75 over the Seattle Storm on Wednesday night. Howard made three 3-pointers in the final 30 seconds of the third quarter to take a 68-54 lead. She banked in a 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds left and then stole the inbounds pass, leading to another 3-pointer from the same spot. Seattle got as close as 77-69 in the fourth before Gray answered with a basket and Howard added two free throws for a 12-point lead with 2:37 left. Atlanta (21-11) moved past New York (21-12) for second place in the WNBA standings with 12 games remaining. The Dream play the Storm again on Friday in Vancouver, British Columbia. Brittney Griner had 11 points and eight rebounds and Maya Caldwell scored 10, all in the first half, for Atlanta. Nneka Ogwumike led Seattle (16-17) with 29 points and nine rebounds. Gabby Williams added 11 points. Ogwumike was 7 of 11 from the field in the first half for 16 points, while the rest of her teammates combined for 23 points. Lowe, Caminero hit 2-run homers in the Rays' 8-2 victory over the Athletics
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Brandon Lowe and Junior Caminero hit two-run home runs, Drew Rasmussen threw six innings and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Athletics 8-2 on Wednesday night. Lowe's second-inning home run off J.T. Ginn (2-5) — his 24th of the season — made it 6-0. Caminero homered in the ninth. Rasmussen (10-5) reached double-digit wins for the second time in his career, but saw his AL-best scoreless streak end at 17 1/3 innings when Lawrence Butler hit a two-run homer in the third. It was the first extra-base hit allowed by Rasmussen in his last four starts. Caminero, Josh Lowe, and Jake Mangum each had RBIs in the top of the first, and Mangum scored on a throwing error. Ginn allowed six hits and six runs — five earned — in two innings. Key moment Lowe's two-run homer to left center extended the Rays' lead. Yankees 1B Paul Goldschmidt has a right knee sprain and may go on IL
NEW YORK (AP) — Paul Goldschmidt has a low-grade right knee sprain and the New York Yankees may place the veteran first baseman on the injured list ahead of his return to St. Louis this weekend. The Yankees will evaluate Goldschmidt during their day off and will decide before Friday's game against the Cardinals if he will be placed on the IL. 'He's dealing with something so we'll see if it's an IL situation,' manager Aaron Boone said after Wednesday's 4-1 loss to Minnesota. 'He was pretty sore last night and this morning. Feels like he's doing quite a bit better right now so we'll see.' Goldschmidt was injured chasing down a foul pop by Byron Buxton in the third inning of Tuesday's 9-1 victory. Goldschmidt overran the ball along the dirt track near the Yankee dugout and slipped before making the catch on the grass while slightly falling down. 'When I kind of overran it and dove back, hit my knee on the ground I guess,' Goldschmidt said. 'I felt that it was sore yesterday but obviously was able to play through it.' Goldschmidt stayed in Tuesday's game and hit a double in the seventh before being lifted with the Yankees holding an eight-run lead. 'As I was going to going back to my position, I was like 'that kind of hurt,' but stuff like that happens,' Goldschmidt said. 'So just felt like I could continue to play, which I did and it was fine.' Goldschmidt, who is hitting .404 off left-handed pitching this year, did not start Wednesday and did not pinch hit when Austin Wells batted and struck out against left-handed reliever Kody Funderburk in the seventh. Signed to a one-year, $12.5 million contract in December following six seasons with the Cardinals, the former NL MVP is hitting .276 with 10 homers and 40 RBIs in 112 games this season. He also has a .996 fielding percentage and has been charged with three errors in 745 chances this year. Ben Rice made his 26th start at first base Wednesday and Cody Bellinger has made two starts at first this season. Bellinger has started 273 games at first base during his nine-year career.
