Tommy Fury recalls what he really thought of Jake Paul before fight
The former Love Island star has traded verbal jibes with the YouTuber-turned-boxer over the years before finally settling their rivalry back in 2023
Tommy Fury has admitted that he did not know who Jake Paul was after he was called out by the 'Problem Child' nearly four years ago.
The pair have traded barbs online over the last few years before finally settling their rivalry two years ago. At one point, the fight seemed destined to never take place. The bout was initially due to take place back in December 2021, but with just under a week until the first bell, the Brit withdrew due to an injury and a medical problem.
Nearly a year later, the dust-up was rebooked. However, just weeks to go until the bout, Fury pulled out once more - this time citing visa issues which were preventing him from entering the United States. The clash was booked for a third time in 2023 and they pair finally traded leather. Despite being knocked down in the final round, Fury would go on to score a victory on points.
Despite their iconic rivalry, Fury surprisingly admitted he did not know who Paul was at first - despite the American's large following on social media. Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Beast podcast hosted by Eddie Hall, when asked how the Paul fight came about, Fury replied: "Tyson (Fury) again. Funnily enough. I was boxing on a Frank Warren show in London during lockdown and they put me as co-main along with the main event. I boxed, I won, it was good. Then Tyson put up the ratings on Twitter... he screenshotted the ratings and he put them up and he tagged Jake Paul."
In typical Paul fashion, the 28-year-old was quick to respond to Fury's post, before 'TNT' went back-and-forth in a verbal spat with the 'Problem Child' before finally settling their differences in the ring."At this time, Jake Paul was making a little bit of noise in the boxing ring and he just started," Fury continued
"Obviously Tyson, being Tyson, he got on a video and went 'you think you are a boxer do you? Well, look at Tommy's ratings. Come and fight him!' I thought 'ok!' I did not even know who Jake Paul was at this stage because he was not a boxer at this point. Jake replied and he said 'oh Tommy, if you want to fight, do no get your big brother to call me out... do it yourself!' And I thought 'ok, here we go. This is where it is starting!'
"Then I jumped on the internet and went 'I do not need anybody to call you out, I am right here and I am going to fight you... no problem!' And then it just escalated into a social media war. Loads of fights that should have happened didn't and it finally came off. It was a two year battle... calling each other every single day on social media, a lot of bad blood, a lot of hype around the fight and a lot of interest."
Since their initial encounter, the duo have frequently exchanged jibes online in an attempt to set up a rematch. However, so far, no rematch has been confirmed. Paul triumphed over Mike Tyson in his most recent fight in November and is set to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr this weekend. A victory against the Mexican would undoubtedly fuel speculation about a second bout with the former Love Island star.

Another form Prem owner is in the mix for a takeover Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) JOHN TEXTOR is reportedly considering a takeover of Sheffield Wednesday after selling his shares in Crystal Palace to save their European dream. The American has offloaded his 43 per cent stake to fellow billionaire and New York Jets owner Woody Johnson for £190million. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 John Textor could look to take over Sheffield Wednesday after selling his Crystal Palace shares Credit: Reuters Textor made the move after Palace saw their place in next season's Europa League come under threat. The Eagles qualified for the competition after winning the FA Cup final. But Textor's other club, French giants Lyon, had qualified through their Ligue 1 finish. And Uefa rules meant that Palace would have been unable to participate unless Textor walked away. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL WEEDED OUT Abandoned EFL stadium left to rot with pitch covered in weeds Now, he could be set for an immediate return to England with stricken Sheffield Wednesday. The Championship club are no longer being funded by wantaway owner Dejphon Chansiri, who has so far rejected bids of around £48m. Wednesday's former owner Milan Madaric has jetted in for showdown talks over a return to Hillsborough. But The Star claims Textor could now come to the table as he looks to remain an investor in English football. BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS Like many suitors, Textor is likely to see Wednesday as sleeping giants who would be revitalised by a return to the Premier League. It comes after another American consortium revealed plans to build a new 55,000-seater stadium should they replace Chansiri. Crystal Palace could be KICKED OUT of Europa League before a ball is even kicked Adam Shaw said: 'Sheffield Wednesday are nowhere in America. We sell zero shirts and have no commercial presence there – that's got to change. 'With the World Cup in the US next year and with the individuals we have in our ownership group, we could easily become Florida's English football team. 'We should and can be way bigger than Wrexham. Ryan Reynolds would give his left leg to have what we already have at Wednesday in terms of our history and fanbase. Let's use that. 'We wouldn't do anything without consulting the fans, but we think the club should have a home where people can park more easily and have up-to-date facilities. 'If we want to create a culture that ensures we become a sustainable, competitive and successful Premier League side, then we must be proactive. Premier League clubs are all upgrading their stadiums.'

Tasha Ghouri gives update on love life as she rules out dating shows
Strictly Come Dancing star Tasha Ghouri has revealed whether she would be open for a stint on Love Island All Stars or Celebs Go Dating after her split from Andrew Le Page Former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri has shared whether she'd be open to more celebrity dating shows. It comes following the news earlier this year that she had separated from Andrew Le Page, who she met on the ITV2 show. Talking about doing a presenting course at the TRIC Awards in London tonight, Strictly Come Dancing star Tasha, 26, said she'd rather focus on that side of her career. "It's not for me personally," Tasha said about the possibility of seeing her on Love Island: All Stars or Celebs Go Dating. She added: "I know people find love on these shows but my dating shows are closed. I'm going down a different path now. It's something I'm really passionate about. I'm happily single but I'm open to love. I'd love a family." Tasha rose to fame on Love Island in 2022, where she found love with former partner Andrew, now 30. The former couple, who reached the final of the show, later split after more than two and a half years together. The reality TV star was the first deaf contestant on the show and uses a cochlear implant to help her hear. She was born deaf and received the implant, which is a small electronic device, when she was five years old. Talking about her meteoric rise since the ITV2 show, she shared how she deals with the stress. "The past few years have been a whirlwind," she admits. "Sometimes I listen to music, other times I take my cochlear out and enjoy the silence. I'm very lucky to have that, it's a beautiful thing." The self confessed adrenaline junkie says she got something wild she needs to tick off her bucket list though. "I want to try ski diving," she said excitedly whilst at the awards ceremony. "I'd love to throw myself out of a plane." Tasha's comments at the TRIC Awards tonight come after a previous update on her personal life whilst at the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises last month. She spoke to the Mirror on the red carpet of the event in May. At the time, Tasha told us that she was "doing okay" when asked about her split from Andrew. She shared whilst on the red carpet of that event just over a month ago: "You know, break ups aren't easy for anybody to go through." She went on to say that she looks back on the relationship in a positive way. Tasha said: "I had a great two and a half years with Andrew. I look back with a positive smile on my face because we had great memories together." Tasha further commented whilst a guest at the BAFTAs: "Sometimes it just doesn't work out and that's all that happened and I wish him the best. I'm just moving forward now." She said at the time that her "dating book is closed for now" and dismissed the prospect of doing a show like Celebs Go Dating. Instead, she said on the red carpet last month that her focus was on herself for the time being.

Former Champions League semi-finalists RELEGATED in shock decision that could affect Crystal Palace Europa League hopes
KNOCKED DOWN Former Champions League semi-finalists RELEGATED in shock decision that could affect Crystal Palace Europa League hopes FRENCH giants Lyon have been relegated to the second division. The decision comes due to debts racked up by their owners the Eagle Football Group. 1 Lyon have been relegated to Ligue 2 Credit: Getty The company is fronted by American businessman John Textor. Last year's accounts showed that the Eagle Football Group's debts had soared to £422million. Lyon were subsequently hit with provisional relegation to Ligue 2 back in November based on their finances not improving. But despite Textor raising funds by selling players, the club's women's team and his 43 per cent stake in Crystal Palace for £190m, the authorities have ruled it as not enough. Lyon can launch an appeal following the decision by the DNGC, who oversee the accounts of French football clubs. Textor also owns Brazilian club Botafogo and Belgian outfit RWD Molenbeek. His sale of his Palace stake to New York Jets owner Woody Johnson needs to be ratified by the Premier League via the owners' and directors' test. THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY..
