Max's Best-Performing Local Original Production Is… Turkey's ‘The Prince' (Exclusive)
On Friday, the final episode of the third season of the hit series became available and seems to have helped seal the deal, according to company data.

Starring Giray Altınok as the Prince, the show is 'set in the imaginary kingdom of Bongomia and follows the comedic adventures of the prince, a very unpopular member of the kingdom whose own family didn't even bother to give him a name,' according to a synopsis.
Over the last month, the Turkish Max original achieved 'the highest level of engagement of any Max local original production globally,' with 74 percent of subscribers in the country tuning into it, according to WBD.
Over the same period, The Prince proved to be a key driver for new subscribers, becoming 'the first show that almost three in four (73 percent) of new Max users watched – the highest nominal acquisition volume for a local original production' in a country in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, company data shows.
During its finale week, season 3 of The Prince accounted for 72 percent of all viewing on Max in Türkiye, WBD said, adding: 'The final episode (season 3 episode 8), released just three days ago, became the most viewed episode of the week with 54 percent of total viewers already having watched the finale.'
WBD's transition of its streaming service BluTV to Max in Turkey became official in mid-April as the Hollywood giant underlined its 'commitment to increasing its investment in local content' and 'bringing a compelling slate of new local stories' to its streamer in the country.
'The response to Prens just shows how strong the demand for high-quality, locally produced originals is and highlights Max as the home of this type of content,' Deniz Şaşmaz Oflaz, vp of local original productions, local channels and streaming operations lead for Türkiye, tells THR. 'As one of our first original series since launching the platform direct-to-consumer in Türkiye earlier this year, it's exciting to see Prens playing a key role in attracting new viewers to the platform.'
In a recent THR interview, she described the series this way: 'It looks like a comedy, but it's more of a dramedy. … The lead character is the prince, who doesn't want to be on the throne and is not really that smart. And then we see all these typical things happening in this kingdom that we've been seeing in such series as Game of Thrones. So it's a satire.'

‘And Just Like That ...' it's ending with Season 3: ‘A wonderful place to stop'
'And Just Like That ...' it's over. The current third season of the 'Sex and the City' sequel will be its last, showrunner, writer and director Michael Patrick King said in a statement on social media Friday. And it'll wrap in exaggerated fashion that would suit Carrie's style: a two-part finale on HBO Max, taking the season's original 10 episodes to 12. Episodes 11 and 12 will air on Aug. 7 and 14, respectively, according to an HBO Max spokesperson. 'While I was writing the last episode of 'And Just Like That ...' Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,' he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. 'SJP [Sarah Jessica Parker] and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.' The original 'Sex and the City' series, which followed the lives of four friends — Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) — premiered on HBO in 1998, ran for six seasons and was the springboard for two subsequent theatrical films. The sequel series reunited Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte and let viewers tag along on their midlife adventures in New York City. But from its premiere in December 2021, the sequel to the popular HBO series was like a situationship viewers could never fully get a handle on. A crucial member of the friend group was absent (Samantha) and some viewers questioned the cast additions — ahem, Che Diaz — and changes to the characters' personalities that felt inconsistent to fans who had journeyed alongside them . Parker, who is also an executive producer of 'And Just Like That ...,' posted a lengthy, poem-like tribute to Carrie and the show on her Instagram account. 'Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years,' she wrote. ' I think I have loved her most of all ... MPK and I together recognized, as we have in the past, this chapter complete. AJLT was all joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us. HBO Max Hires ITV's Sasha Breslau and Amazon's Alessandro Volpato to Lead Acquisitions in U.K., Italy
Warner Bros. Discovery has appointed Sasha Breslau and Alessandro Volpato to lead content acquisitions for HBO Max in the U.K. & Ireland and Italy, respectively, as the company prepares for the streamer's early 2026 rollout across multiple European markets. Breslau will join as Vice President, Content Acquisitions for the UK and Ireland in October 2025. Reporting to Ragnhild Thorbech, SVP of Programming & Acquisitions, EMEA, she will oversee content sourcing, rights negotiations, and strategic programming partnerships. Her remit includes helping shape HBO Max's regional strategy and curating a diverse lineup of HBO Originals, Max Originals, Warner Bros. Pictures titles, DC Studios content, and TNT Sports programming.
