Man Utd close in on free transfer as target 'travels to Manchester' to complete deal
Manchester United transfer news as Ruben Amorim's side look set to secure a deal for a new striker for the future and take advantage of a free agent ahead of the summer
Manchester United are set to seal a summer transfer for a striker. The Red Devils are expected to land Enzo Kana-Biyik on a free transfer from Le Havre.
Kana-Biyik, 18, is in the final weeks of his contract and according to reports in France, has travelled to Manchester to secure a deal. The Red Devils are said to have beat off competition from Monaco and Marseille for the teenager's signature.
United have already come to an agreement and plan to loan out the forward to FC Lausanne-Sport, a club owned by INEOS, for the season. The Premier League side want Kana-Biyik to earn more experience on the pitch before introducing him to their squad.
The starlet has yet to make his senior debut and has made a single matchday squad in Ligue 1. The player is the son of Andre Kana-Biyik who earned 80 Cameroon caps in his careeer, and the brother of Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik.
The moves sees United focused attempting to strengthen their squad now and in the future. The club have also been linked to moves for Matheus Cunha, Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen as Ruben Amorim attempts to turn around the struggling team's fortunes.
The Portuguese coach has outlined how crucial the upcoming transfer window is for the Red Devils to launch an immediate improvement. The 40-year-old believes they must take advantage of having no other summer distractions.
"I think it's crucial," Amorim said last month. "I think we are trying to do everything as soon as possible. If you look at the schedule of teams we will not have the Club World Cup, so that means that we are going to have a pre-season
"If you look at the next years, we are going to have a World Cup then a European Championship. So this window is going to be massive to work on our base.
"I think it's clear for everybody here that is going to be crucial and we have to take advantage of that.
"We will not have a next pre-season. It will not be like that. So we need to do everything soon as possible to be prepared for having everybody for the pre-season to start after a season like this.
"We need to show something. That is not a debate.
So I don't want that conversation of we need a lot of time. We need time, maybe to win the league, but we need to improve a lot after this season."

Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Sesko's ‘price tag DROPPED', Gunners rival Spurs for £68m Eze, Norgaard and Kepa INCOMING
Meanwhile at Sporting, Gyokeres is kicking up a stink about the Portuguese club refusing to honour a gentleman's agreement to let him go this summer for £59m - instead of his release clause of £85m. The Sweden international, also a target for Manchester United and Liverpool, has long been touted as Arsenal's second choice behind Sesko. Some Arsenal fans are growing impatient with the club for not moving as swiftly in the summer market as rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea. And there is no doubt that boss Mikel Arteta himself would want to sign a centre forward before the squad fly to Singapore for their pre-season tour on July 19. But there is a distinct possibility that another frontman - neither Sesko nor Gyokeres - will be on the plane.

Lauren James in line to make return from injury for England against Jamaica
The Chelsea forward, 23, has been unable to feature for club or country since limping off midway through the Lionesses' 5-0 Nations League win against Belgium nearly three months ago. James returned to training last week and boss Sarina Wiegman says the England star could feature in Sunday's final warm-up friendly against Jamaica at Leicester's King Power Stadium. 'We have to manage the minutes,' the Lionesses head coach said. 'She's doing really well, but of course she hasn't played games yet. But she's in a good place. 😁 LJ — Lionesses (@Lionesses) June 26, 2025 'She will likely come off the bench, we can manage that a bit. She showed up on the training session really well. 'She could cope with loads and recover from loads. Her performance has been really good. 'She's ready, we're just still growing into minutes. This is the first time in a while that she's coming into a game and [she needs to] get through that. Then we'll take it from there towards the tournament.' James sparkled during England's run to the World Cup final in Australia two years ago and team-mate Jess Carter says it is 'really exciting' for her to be back. 'For me she's a good friend and we all know she is an incredible footballer, but I think the most impressive thing for me is just that she has come back in like a new player,' the defender said. 'Maybe the injury was a bit of a blessing in disguise, in terms of that she just looks so fresh, so sharp, and she really impacts the game and the team. 'And she is a pain to play against. Good luck to any of the other players having to play against her in the tournament.' England kick-off their Euros title defence against France in Zurich next Saturday, before Group D continues with clashes against the Netherlands and Wales. Squad selfie 🤳 ✅ — Lionesses (@Lionesses) June 27, 2025 It is a tough-looking pool, but Football Association chief executive Mark Bullingham has said that Wiegman will stay regardless of the outcome in Switzerland. 'We've had conversations and, of course, I extended my contract until 2027, after the World Cup,' said the Lionesses boss, who has led England to Euros glory and a World Cup final in her two tournaments at the helm. 'We're going into a new tournament now and I feel very happy here. I'm excited to go into a new tournament. 'I'm not looking too much ahead – the contract is until 2027 and I've always felt so much support from Mark and the board and I still feel that way. And it's really nice that he confirms that.'

The Red Devils saw their second bid of £55m before add-ons of £7.5m knocked back on Friday, but remain confident of striking a deal. Brentford are now holding out for a total package of £65m, meaning there is only a small gap in valuations at this point. As SunSport revealed earlier this month, Mbeumo's preference has always been a move to Old Trafford. That is despite departed Bees boss Thomas Frank wanting to take the Cameroon international to Tottenham. Advertisement READ MORE ON FOOTBALL WISH ROO WERE HERE? Talks are now continuing between United and Brentford over Mbeumo's move, a deal which would smash the Bees club record sale. Ivan Toney's £40m move to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia last summer is the biggest sale in the club's history. Mbeumo's departure will be yet another challenge for new Bees boss Keith Andrews. Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland outscored him. The last time a United player reached at least 20 goals in a Premier League campaign was Robin van Persie. Mbeumo made the switch to England in 2019 when he joined Brentford from French outfit Troyes. He cost the Bees a then-record transfer fee of £5.8m as he helped the club reach the Premier League in his second season. Advertisement In total, he has made 242 appearances for the club and scored 70 goals and provided 51 assists in all competitions. Norgaard, meanwhile, also arrived at Brentford in 2019 as he joined from Fiorentina. The 31-year-old has been ever-present in the club's midfield and is one of the most reliable members of the team. The Dane will face an awkward reunion with Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli once he completes the move.
