A BRITISH climber has been rescued from the world's third highest mountain.
Adrian Michael Hayes was returning from the summit of Mt Kanchenjunga in the Nepalese Himalayas when he began to suffer from severe altitude sickness.

Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world
Hayes was rescued by Sherpas and brought down to a high-altitude camp as rescuers wait for better weather to evacuate him, the Himalayan Times reports.
Meanwhile a French climber on the same mountain died on May 10.
Margareta Morin, 63, died at 7,800m (25,590ft) on her way up the mountain as she couldn't be rescued during severe weather.
Yogendra Tamang of Peak 15 Adventure said conversations were now underway with Morin's insurance company to bring her body back down.

Kangchenjunga's summit is 8,500m high.

Washington's Lincoln Memorial is such a symbol of America that it features on the five-dollar bill. But the monument now serves as a backdrop to row after row of tents where homeless people are massed in a camp which looks like the cross-Channel migrant 'jungle' in Calais. Rubbish was strewn everywhere, and the occupants were clearly in it for the long haul. One had even somehow set up a washing machine. Within 30 seconds of arriving at the world-famous Union Station, I was confronted by a woman lying on the floor, with her trousers falling down. More rows of homeless were slumped outside a library just a street away from the White House, and they took no heed of Trump's warning – telling me: 'We are never leaving.' Some had been smoking what they told me was super-strength cannabis, and were lying comatose on the floor unable to wake up. A security guard at a nearby Hilton hotel said: 'You think this is crazy? You should have seen it last week. There was a shooting nearby.' One by one, their cars left the centre in dramatic fashion. That evening's mission: A crackdown on 'bloodthirsty criminals'. We attempted to take a leaf out of the FBI's book and venture into the neighbourhood ourselves but swiftly realised that was a bad idea, as masked gangs loitered on the streets looking for trouble. As we cruised back to town, we spotted six blacked-out SUVs full of Drug Enforcement Administration officers armed with machine guns stopping a car and arresting a wrong 'un. It seemed the men who Trump called 'drugged-out maniacs' were lurking around almost every corner. And his plan was in full force, as nearly every street had a police car parked up, or a special agent. The social media influencer, who has been charged with rape and human trafficking, put a down payment on an Aston Martin Valhalla in July 2021, officers said. Devon and Cornwall Police said cash used to pay the deposit came from tax evasion and money laundering. It comes after £2.7million worth of criminal assets were seized from Tate and his brother Tristan last December. Police obtained account freezing and forfeiture orders at Westminster magistrates' court earlier this week. Det Supt Jon Bancroft said: 'This latest judgement follows on from our applications made against the Tate brothers which resulted in a successful ruling in December 2024 and the forfeiture of nearly £2.7 million of criminal funds. 'From the outset we aimed to demonstrate that Andrew and Tristan Tate evaded their tax obligations and laundered money. Sean McKay, 23, was walking home from work when he was stabbed to death in Dalry, Ayrshire, in October 2021. Police Scotland said McVey stabbed his victim for "absolutely no reason other than his own wickedness". Sean's family have taken part in a new Channel 5 documentary on the case called Murdered At First Sight. His girlfriend Chloe McCormick told the programme she found out after his death that he was planning to ask her to marry him. The couple had a son together, Oscar, who was one year old at the time of labourer Sean's death. Chloe, 25, said: "I just miss his laugh, hearing his voice. He made everyone laugh all the time. I have never moved on from it. Even now four years later I still think that there is nobody as good as him Chloe McCormick "I have never moved on from it. Relatives of Sean told how McVey has never explained his actions and treated them with contempt when they came face-to-face with him in court. The killer, who denied his guilt, shouted and swore and made an offensive hand gesture to the family as he was leaving the courtroom to begin his sentence. Sean's sister Simone said: "Gavin showed us all the middle finger as he went back downstairs after being found guilty. After Sean died I found out he was going to ask me to marry him. He had spoken about it with his closest friends. I would have said 'Yes' definitely Chloe McCormick "It made us feel horrible but it showed his character." His mum Debbie said: "Gavin McVey didn't give any reason. There was no reason why he could have killed him. "He didn't even speak in court. I thought we would maybe get answers why (it happened). "When the jury came back and said 'Guilty' it was brilliant. We all cheered." McVey, 42, denied his guilt throughout the trial and blamed another person who he was with for Sean's death. This was a senseless murder. What you did was despicable and cowardly Judge Lord Mulholland However, the court heard how he sent a text to a pal stating: "I killed some c**t" following the incident. Sentencing McVey, judge Lord Mulholland said: "You've been convicted of murder of Sean McKay - a young man with his whole life ahead of him. "He was on his way home from work when he encountered you under the influence of alcohol with a knife. "You've also delivered a life sentence of grief to his partner, son, mother, father, sister and other family and friends. "This was a senseless murder. What you did was despicable and cowardly."
