Uber Eats is adding AI to menus, food photos, and reviews
The AI tools can be used to generate descriptions for menu items and summarize customer reviews to quickly highlight feedback regarding areas of the business that need improvement. Uber Eats also says it's using AI to 'detect and enhance low-quality food images' on menus, either by making changes to lighting, resolution, and framing, or editing the food onto different plates or backgrounds. The example images provided by Uber Eats suggest that this feature may also use generative AI to make adjustments to the food itself, such as expanding it or filling in any gaps when digitally re-plating.
For menu items that don't have any images at all, Uber Eats will also now allow customers to upload a photograph of their own order when leaving a review. The feature is launching globally, and can be accessed by tapping the 'add photos' option on the rate order screen. Customers in the US, UK, Canada, and Mexico may receive a payment in Uber in-app credits if their photos are published.
Lastly, Uber Eats is introducing a new Live Order Chat feature that allows businesses to contact customers directly to help resolve any issues with orders before they're sent out. Once an order has been received, merchants can then initiate real-time communications to clarify any special requests, check dietary or allergy requirements, or inform them of out-of-stock items to discuss alternatives.
The user-uploaded images and Live Order Chat features could provide customers with a better idea of what to expect from their orders before they arrive at their door. AI-generated and manipulated content can be unpredictable, however, and we won't know how reliable these tools are until they start appearing on menus.

Citi raises gold forecast to $3,500/oz over next 3 months on negative US outlook
(Reuters) -Citi raised its gold price forecast over next three months to $3,500 per ounce on Monday from $3,300, and the expected trading range to $3,300–$3,600 from $3,100–$3,500, on the belief that near-term U.S. growth and inflation outlook has deteriorated. Gold, traditionally considered a safe-haven asset during political and economic uncertainties, tends to thrive in a low-interest-rate environment. Citi estimates gross gold demand has risen over one-third since mid-2022, nearly doubling prices by second quarter of 2025. The strength in gold demand was driven by strong investment demand, moderate central bank buying and resilient jewellery demand despite higher prices, the bank added. Town receives thousands in funding to support local projects
Royal Wootton Bassett has received multiple grants of external funding, which will be used to help support local projects in the area. The town council has announced the funding grants and which accumulate in almost £100,000 which will go towards the community. A spokesperson for Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council said they are "delighted" to have received the influx. They said: "The Town Council is delighted to announce that it has secured external funding to support a range of important local projects aimed at enhancing the town's facilities and services. "Thanks to Community First, who manage and administrate the Landfill Communities Fund in Wiltshire and Swindon, this funding will help bring several projects to life including: £30,000 towards the replacement of the wooden bridges at Jubilee Lake (part of the ongoing development plan for the area). "£10,000 towards display cabinets for the Town Hall for display, storage and artefacts. "£50,000 towards the Jubilee Lake Play Park refurbishment programme and other smaller play parks refurbishment programme. "Work is expected to begin in the coming months, with more updates to follow as each project progresses "External funding is an important source of income to the Town Council, and we are committed to continuously seeking grants which will help us bring project ideas to life and creating valuable assets for Royal Wootton Bassett without using the council precept or the Town Hall Trust funds." The town is undergoing a major transformation. Along with the grants to fund restoration projects and to help improve the Jubilee Lake area, there are lots of development plans in the air. The Advertiser recently reported that 400 new homes have been proposed in the town, with residents reacting negatively to the potential build. The site is set to have housing built on the land opposite Salley Pussey's and will bring the town closer to Swindon. On July 27, it was also reported that the new sports centre, which will cost £100,000 will be built on Showfield Park. The decision to try and build a Multi Use Sports Area (known as a MUSA) in Royal Wootton Bassett was first announced in June 2025, when town councillors resolved to turn this idea into a reality. The MUSA would include a hard court and fenced area, providing the space for a variety of sports to be played, including football, hockey, basketball and more.
