Devastation as Harvey makes his final choice in EastEnders iPlayer release

Metro15-05-2025

This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer.
Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) has made a decision between Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) and Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth).
As viewers saw earlier this week, Harvey's affair with Kath' was exposed for all to hear in front of The Queen Vic's punters. A vengeful Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) had recorded them kissing, and after taking ownership of The Prince Albert bar, charged into the pub to play the video.
We delved straight back into the action in today's episode, with nobody wanting to believe that the footage was real.
Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) claimed it was AI technology, and Jean was inclined to believe him. However, Harvey's silence was deafening, confirming her worst fears.
A horrified Jean then darted out, with Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) ordering Harvey to stay away. He wanted to explain his part of the story, and the two sat down for a difficult conversation.
Laying his cards on the table, he admitted that he felt incapable of helping the Slater family in the wake of Martin Fowler's death and became increasingly isolated in his own grief. He also noted that despite the house being so full, he's never felt so lonely.
Jean was furious that his constant mentions of Martin seemed like some form of competition.
She then opened up about her late husband Brian, and how he had a second family and other children on the other side of the country. Both he and Harvey had decided she wasn't enough for them.
Amid their argument, Harvey began to wonder whether she was showing symptoms of her bipolar disorder. Jean was – understandably – furious and began to smash plates on the floor. The commotion had alerted her daughter, Stacey (Lacey Turner), who came downstairs for a heart-to-heart with her mum while he packed his bags.
Stace admitted that love is a complicated thing, and that you can still love someone and show affection towards someone else. After all, she slept with Max Branning when she was in committed relationships with both his son Bradley and Martin.
The conversation gave Jean food for thought, wondering whether he still did care deep down. When Stacey noted that the kids won't cope without the 'cement that holds the bricks together', Jean headed to speak with Kath.
The women didn't get off to a good start. Jean slapped Kathy around the chops and then sat down, asking for a glass of whiskey. She wanted her side of the story and to know whether she'd be prepared to abandon her relationship with Harvey.

Kath' said that it wasn't her decision, and she wouldn't turn him away if he turned up on her doorstep. Jean seemed satisfied with her answer and headed back home to catch Harvey before he left. More Trending
There, he confessed that Jean and the Slaters gave him life again following son Aaron's imprisonment and daughter Dana's exit. She then gave an impassioned speech – telling him that the Slaters are where he belongs, and he's the one who holds them all together.
But who will he eventually settle with? Jean, or Kathy? Metro are choosing to keep this one under our hats until the episode goes out on TV.

EastEnders' Jean tries to sabotage Kat's happiness in cruel move

Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) has made a cruel attempt at ruining cousin Kat's (Jessie Wallace) 'hag do' in EastEnders – as a last-ditch attempt is made to salvage their relationship. As viewers of the BBC One soap saw earlier this week, an emotional Jean lashed out upon realising that Kat had teamed up with her ex-partner Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) for a new business venture. The deal came just weeks after his affair with Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) was exposed, something which mortified her. Rushing away from Walford to spend time with Mo Harris (Laila Morse) and Fat Elvis, Kat was left to pick up the pieces in the Slater household. Harvey was offered a lucrative purchase – a limousine that could be used for wedding photoshoots. He couldn't afford it, but the seller thought up a cunning scheme to get his cash. Kat signed on the dotted line, unaware of the other bidder being Harvey. She was furious, but alongside partner Alfie (Shane Richie), decided they should capitalise on the mishap by getting him to fork out for the publicity. Alfie had an even better plan. He got down on one knee, and proposed. They could have a proper reception, and not have to pay for half of it! As they celebrated in The Vic, and with Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) quickly arranging a joint stag and hen do, Jean strolled in and assumed that they were all happy to see her return. But that wasn't the case. She felt excluded from the wedding, and was enraged to hear that Harvey was Kat's business partner. Dealing a slap, she told Kat that she was more than welcome to adopt the Moon moniker once again, as she was no longer a Slater. In tonight's episode, damage control began. Alfie urges Kat to put things right, but when she headed to speak with Jean, a huge argument broke out. Kat said that it was Jean's fault that Harvey strayed, and she needed to stop wallowing in self pity. With the hag do in full swing, and everyone donning leopard print, floral shirts and leather jackets, someone snuck into the corridor at Harry's Barn. It was Jean. She jabbed away at the fire alarm, attempting to shut down the bash, before rushing off. More Trending Kat followed, urging her to attend the wedding and to put everything to one side. It seemed that their dynamic would never be the same again. However, in a shock twist, when Kat got home, Jean was there. She realised that they couldn't go on fighting any longer, and as much as it would pain her to see Harvey at the wedding, she would be in attendance. Hurrah! View More » With everything seemingly back to normal, Kat logged onto the computer and was gobsmacked to find a porn website open – and a payment confirmation… blissfully unaware that her son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) was responsible. Revealing her plans for the weekend, she said Harvey will be joining her on Saturday when she performs at Portsmouth Pride. Katie then added: "Hopefully Harvey starts his Mounjaro this week, but we'll talk about that next week and I'll go through all of what's happening about that." The mum-of-five previously opened up on how Harvey's life was at risk because of his size. The TV personality's eldest child has Prader-Willi syndrome, which sparks a constant desire to eat food and a permanent feeling of hunger which leads to obesity. Harvey battles a series of debilitating conditions including autism, septo-optic dysplasia, ADHD and oppositional defiant disorder. In a video posted in April, Katie revealed: 'I'm so heartbroken and gutted that his weight is just going up. 'I just googled it in stones, 188kg is just a few kg of being 30 stone. 'It's so life-threatening now, I'm still waiting for the doctors to get back to me starting on the mounjaro and his journey to a healthy life.' She continued: 'It's so sad his quality of life at the moment where he's so big, he just can't really do much. Katie Price drops huge hint daughter Princess Andre is in talks for Love Island after boyfriend split 'It's just another thing I have to deal with because he's at high risk of having a heart attack, he struggles to put his trainers or struggles to walk anywhere but I love him and I'm going to help him through this. 'So sad, obesity and his condition is sad, it's sad to see someone go through it and he doesn't understand.' 5 Katie thinks the move could be life-saving Credit: PA Everything you need to know about fat jabs Weight loss jabs are all the rage as studies and patient stories reveal they help people shed flab at almost unbelievable rates, as well as appearing to reduce the risk of serious diseases. Wegovy – a modified version of type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic – and Mounjaro are the leading weight loss injections used in the UK. Wegovy, real name semaglutide, has been used on the NHS for years while Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a newer and more powerful addition to the market. Mounjaro accounts for most private prescriptions for weight loss and is set to join Wegovy as an NHS staple this year. How do they work? The jabs work by suppressing your appetite, making you eat less so your body burns fat for energy instead and you lose weight. They do this my mimicking a hormone called GLP-1, which signals to the brain when the stomach is full, so the drugs are officially called GLP-1 receptor agonists. They slow down digestion and increase insulin production, lowering blood sugar, which is why they were first developed to treat type 2 diabetes in which patients' sugar levels are too high. Can I get them? NHS prescriptions of weight loss drugs, mainly Wegovy and an older version called Saxenda (chemical name liraglutide), are controlled through specialist weight loss clinics. Typically a patient will have to have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, classifying them as medically obese, and also have a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure. GPs generally do not prescribe the drugs for weight loss. Private prescribers offer the jabs, most commonly Mounjaro, to anyone who is obese (BMI of 30+) or overweight (BMI 25-30) with a weight-related health risk. Private pharmacies have been rapped for handing them out too easily and video calls or face-to-face appointments are now mandatory to check a patient is being truthful about their size and health. Are there any risks? Yes – side effects are common but most are relatively mild. Around half of people taking the drug experience gut issues, including sickness, bloating, acid reflux, constipation and diarrhoea. Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and clinical consultant at said: 'One of the more uncommon side effects is severe acute pancreatitis, which is extremely painful and happens to one in 500 people.' Other uncommon side effects include altered taste, kidney problems, allergic reactions, gallbladder problems and hypoglycemia. Evidence has so far been inconclusive about whether the injections are damaging to patients' mental health. Figures obtained by The Sun show that, up to January 2025, 85 patient deaths in the UK were suspected to be linked to the medicines. In February Katie told The Sun she consulted top doctors who suggested starting Harvey on the jabs in a bid to improve his chances of living longer. Harvey's biological dad is former footballer Dwight, 53, dated for a short period between 2000 and 2001, but split shortly after Katie told him she was pregnant. 5 Katie worries about Harvey's long-term health if he stays obese Credit: Splash

EastEnders fans distracted by outrageous detail in background of Albert Square scene - but can you spot it?

EastEnders viewers were distracted by an outrageous detail in the background of an Albert Square scene. An old episode of the BBC soap featured a particularly notable headline on a newspaper stand. According to a fan on Reddit, the headline for the fictional Walford Gazette seemed to be about chicken yoga. The viewer penned: 'I love finding these 'made up headlines'.' 'I couldn't help but notice the headline on Walford Gazette probably says 'Chicken Yoga Takes City By Storm',' they added, followed by three chicken emojis. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The fan went on, 'Seriously, Chickens do Yogas?' and ended with a laughing emoji. It's not the first time eagle-eyed viewers found themselves distracted by background details in the show. During an episode in April, Jean (Gillian Wright) entered her home and pushed a pram through the doorway. She left a voicemail for her granddaughter Lily and was trying to find out where she was. Jean was looking after Lily's daughter and her great-granddaughter, Charli. Though the pram appeared to be empty when she entered the house, the camera then panned to show Charli sat inside it. Some viewers noticed the blunder and took to social media to point it out. One posted on X: 'EastEnders are really getting lazy when it comes to checking their scenes before adding them into the episode cause tell me why Jean's pushing an empty f****** pushchair then suddenly a child's in it #EastEnders.' Someone commented: 'Omg I did not notice this lol!' Another said: 'I was laughing so much when I seen this big L from the camera man.' While a fourth wrote: 'I noticed this too.' Someone else said: 'Oh dear lol.' While another added: 'I was watching an old episode of Brookside and the same thing happened there too.' Elsewhere, fans all made the same joke after a glaring Sonia Fowler blunder during a live episode in February. The nurse (Natalie Cassidy) welcomed her baby girl into the world after she was trapped in the Queen Vic during the fire. Viewers were worried that the youngster wouldn't survive after staying quiet after being born. Some viewers noticed the blunder and took to social media to point it out Sonia, Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) and Lauren Branning (Jaqueline Jossa) were over the moon when she finally started crying amongst the drama. By the instalment many fans pointed out the same thing about Sonia's daughter - that she had some how managed to dramatically grow in size throughout the live ep. One wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: 'Sonia's baby has tripled in size within 5 mins… #EastEnders.'
