Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh meets Rajnath Singh in Delhi; discuss several issues
New Delhi [India], June 17 (ANI): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Tuesday and discussed important issues related to the state. The Chief Minister requested the Union Defence Minister to merge Ranikhet and Lansdowne Cantonment area with municipalities which will help in the overall development of tourism and public facilities in these areas.
He requested to grant permission to use the military helipads of Dharchula and Joshimath under RCS air service. The Chief Minister also requested to waive the fee payable for the services of the Indian Air Force for disaster and relief work of the state.
The Chief Minister requested the Union Defence Minister to get the maintenance and upkeep work of Tharali Dewal-Mundoli-Van motor road from Gwaldam via Nandkesari done by the Public Works Department in future also.
He said that this road is the main route of the important Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra of the state. 'This is an important journey organised every 12 years, which is proposed for the year 2026. This Yatra is a symbol of the state's religious and cultural faith'
The Union Defence Minister assured positive action on all the proposals.
On Monday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Energy and Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal and requested special assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and development of hydroelectric projects in the state.
The Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to automate the power lines in the Rishikesh-Haridwar area and also for a viability gap fund of Rs 4,000 crore for the construction of hydroelectric projects in the Kumaon and Upper Yamuna regions of the state, a release said.
The Chief Minister also requested a viability gap fund of Rs 3,800 crore for the development of pump storage projects in remote and difficult terrain of the state so that energy generation capacity can be increased in these areas and local development can also be promoted.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister requested approval of the DPR of two important projects of Pitkul under the Power System Development Fund and also requested for approval of both these projects with a 100 per cent grant. The cost of these projects is Rs 1007.82 crore.
The Chief Minister drew the attention of the Union Minister to the practical challenges of the current guidelines regarding the construction of residential units for the weaker income group under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
He also informed that the State Government is successfully running projects under the private partnership model, but the system of lump sum central grants is affecting the cash flow of the projects.
The Chief Minister urged that the phased assistance system (like 40:40:20) applicable on government land should also be implemented in private land-based projects.
He said that clear guidelines be given to banks, NBFCs and other financial institutions in this regard so that the beneficiaries of the EWS category can easily get loan facilities.
The Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to extend the RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System) beyond Modipuram Meerut Marg to Haridwar. This will not only solve the traffic problem in the state but will also promote urbanisation and overall economic development. (ANI)

No big-ticket projects for the region, Nandi Hills cabinet meeting postponed
Bengaluru: The govt has postponed the much-anticipated cabinet meeting scheduled to be held at Nandi Hills on Thursday, allegedly due to the absence of significant projects to announce for Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur, and Kolar districts. Instead, the cabinet will convene at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, following regular protocol. Sources say a key reason behind the last-minute change in venue was lack of approval from the finance department for several proposed projects for the region. Only a limited number of items had been listed on the original agenda, including a Rs 36 crore proposal for a new lake in Chintamani taluk, rejuvenation of 45 lakes in Sidlaghatta and 119 in Chintamani taluks under HN Valley-II Stage, costing an estimated Rs 237 crore. The cabinet was also expected to deliberate on a proposal to rename Bagepalli town to Bagyanagar. "Finance department concurrence was not received for the proposed projects, so the meeting at Nandi Hills has been deferred," said an official from the chief minister's office. The postponement has sparked disappointment among locals and lawmakers who were hoping for long-term solutions to the region's persistent water problems. Congress legislators from the three districts, besides activists, urged the govt to bring meaningful projects to the table and address the region's critical needs. In a letter to chief secretary Shalini Rajneesh, the Shashwata Neeravari Horata Samiti — a local organization focused on irrigation and water issues — highlighted decades-long water scarcity in the area. The group had requested that the Nandi Hills cabinet meeting include discussions on phased water treatment under the KC and HN Valley projects, lake rejuvenation plans, and progress on the long-pending Yettinahole project. "We were ready to protest if our issues were not addressed at the meeting. Now it feels like the govt cancelled it because they had no concrete solutions to offer," said Reddy, a member of the Samiti. BJP MP from Chikkaballapur, K Sudhakar, also voiced his dissatisfaction over the cancellation. "I had high expectations for our region from this cabinet meeting," he said. "The govt must urgently fund the three-stage water treatment under the KC and HN Valley projects and allocate at least Rs 1,000 crore to accelerate the Yettinahole project." Meanwhile, Congress MLAs have reportedly pressed the govt to discuss additional regional development plans, including the proposed international flower market in Chikkaballapur, a water project for Bagepalli, and increased funding for road infrastructure. 6 Haryana irrigation dept officials to face action over project delays
Chandigarh: Two days after Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed strong displeasure over project delays and questionable work order allotments, particularly for the diaphragm wall in the Yamuna, the irrigation department has identified six officials, including two chief engineers, for strict departmental action. The administrative secretary of the irrigation and water resources department has forwarded a proposal detailing the disciplinary measures to the chief minister's office (CMO) for approval. The department is also considering a probe by the Anti-Corruption Bureau. A decision is expected on Friday, when the irrigation department officials attend a follow-up meeting, expected to be chaired by CM Saini himself. Sources said the meeting will review the progress of five mega projects, including a new parallel lined channel from Dadupur to Hamida head, the remodelling of the Western Yamuna Canal (WJC), augmentation canal remodelling, and the construction of a diaphragm wall downstream of Hathnikund barrage. "Soon after the Monday review, the officials facing action were identified and the proposal was forwarded to the CM," an official confirmed. "Regarding the Yamuna barrage work, technical clarifications on raw material sources will also be sought," the official added. Last week, irrigation and water resources minister Shruti Choudhry announced departmental action against 80 officials for use of substandard material in civil works. While this issue was yet to settle down, the slow pace of development in mega projects for the augmentation of irrigation and inadequate progress of works at the Yamuna barrage led to more chief engineers and errant officials facing action. On Monday, during a review meeting of mega projects worth more than Rs 100 crore of the irrigation and water resources department, the CM was upset with the pace of work progress and certain anomalies in the bidding and awarding of tenders. He categorically asked the administrative secretary and director general of the irrigation department to put his "displeasure note" on the file, demanding identification of the officials responsible.
