Minister Kondapalli criticises YSRCP

Hans Indiaa day ago

Vizianagaram: Minister for MSME Kondapalli Srinivas has condemned YSRCP leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy's 'disgusting' reaction to the arrest of Sakshi Media journalist Kommineneni Srinivas Rao, accusing the previous government of hypocrisy and orchestrating a smear campaign against Amaravati.
Speaking to media on Tuesday, the minister said, 'Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, who is responsible for the atrocities of the past five years, is now preaching morality.'
He denounced Sakshi Media for its ongoing 'poisoning' of Amaravati, referencing a recent debate where senior journalist Krishnam Raju's comments exposed the true intentions of YSRCP leaders.
The minister demanded strong action from both the Central and State government to prevent future derogatory comments against women. He alleged that the YSRCP fears the rapid development of Amaravati and Polavaram, leading them to resort to 'cheap remarks' and then shamelessly defend their actions.
'Labelling those who question their mistakes as 'hybrids' reveals their demonic mentality,' he added. He also contrasted the recent arrest with YSRCP's past actions, recalling the arrests of 74-year-old Kollu Anka Babu and the 80-plus-year-old Ranganayakamma for sharing information on WhatsApp during YSRCP's rule. 'YSRCP seems to think people have forgotten their past misdeeds,' he quipped.
Minister Srinivas affirmed the government's respect for journalists but cautioned that those using the profession to conspire against Amaravati would not be tolerated. He reiterated the TDP's commitment to respecting women, regardless of their political affiliation, while condemning the derogatory remarks made against women in Amaravati. He concluded by suggesting that these 'diversionary politics' are a desperate attempt by YSRCP to evade their own corruption scandals.

Pemmasani lays stone for Shaadi Khana at Prattipadu in Guntur district

The Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, along with local MLA B. Ramanjaneyulu, laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Shaadi Khana at Prathipadu on Thursday. The facility is being built for the benefit of the Muslim community. Speaking at the event, the Minister lauded two families for making the project possible. He praised Nuthalapati Parameswara Rao and Prameela for donating land worth ₹1 crore for the facility. 'At a time when land prices are skyrocketing, donating such a valuable property for public welfare is truly commendable,' he said. He also acknowledged the contributions of Sudhanagunta Raghavendra Prasad and Kalyani, who, despite not being local residents, donated ₹4 crore to construct nine community halls across the Guntur parliamentary constituency, including the one in Prattipadu. The Shaadi Khana is being built at a cost of ₹45 lakh, consisting of a 2,000 hall with toilet facilities and guest arrangements. Criticising the previous YSRCP government, he alleged that no meaningful support or infrastructure was provided to the Muslim community in the last five years. 'Despite funds being available from the Centre under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, the previous regime failed to provide matching funds, letting central aid lapse,' he stated. Plans for Guntur Mr. Sekhar also announced future development plans for Guntur, including a ₹30 crore radiotherapy equipment project for the government hospital, a ₹100 crore Ayurvedic hospital, and modernisation of the Guntur Channel. He assured that all ongoing public works would continue at the 2019 contract rates, without any escalation in cost.

Rahul Gandhi Writes to PM, Flags Dismal State of Hostels for Students From Marginalised Communities

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, flagging the 'deplorable' conditions in residential hostels for Dalit, Scheduled Tribes (STs), Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and minority students. In his letter, Gandhi also highlighted the delay in providing post-Matriculation scholarships for students from marginalised communities and urged the Prime Minister to resolve these two critical issues. He added that these problems hampered opportunities for 90 per cent students from marginalised communities, reported The Hindu . 'Firstly, the conditions in residential hostels for students from Dalit, ST, EBC, OBC and minority communities are deplorable. During a recent visit to Ambedkar Hostel in Darbhanga, Bihar, students complained about single rooms which 6-7 students were forced to share, unhygienic toilets, unsafe drinking water, lack of mess facilities, and no access to libraries or the internet,' said Gandhi said in his letter dated June 10. 'Secondly, post-matric scholarships for students from marginalised communities are plagued by delays and failures,' said Gandhi. The Leader of Opposition cited the example of Bihar, and claimed that the scholarship portal had been non-functional for three years, and no student had received a scholarship in 2021-22. 'Even thereafter, the number of Dalit students receiving scholarships fell by nearly half, from 1.36 lakh in FY23 to 0.69 lakh in FY24. Students further complain that the scholarship amounts are insultingly low,' Gandhi wrote in the letter. Gandhi added that these 'failures' were widespread across India and called for an audit of every hostel for students from Dalit, ST, EBC, OBC and minority communities to ensure good infrastructure, sanitation, and food and academic facilities, and the allocation of adequate funds to address deficiencies. He also called for the timely disbursement of scholarships, increase in scholarship amount and improved execution of post-matric scholarships. 'I am sure you agree that India cannot progress unless youth from marginalised communities progress. I look forward to your positive response,' said Gandhi.
