Aamir Khan calls Sitaare Zameen Par's release ‘ill-timed', expresses concern about its box office performance: ‘I'm stressed only action films are working'

Aamir Khan's much-awaited comedy-sports drama Sitaare Zameen Par is set to hit theatres on June 20. Ahead of its release, the actor-filmmaker has expressed doubts about the film's box office prospects. During a conversation with Galatta Plus, Aamir shared his concern about Sitaare Zameen Par doing well at the box office. He said, 'When I look at the film today, I think I am quite happy with it. I think what we set out to make, we have made. Will it work at the box office? I have no idea. The fact of the matter is, throughout my career, whenever my film is released, I suddenly become aware. My film is a comedy, but right now only action is working. When Ghajini came, my film was action, but action wasn't working then. Nobody wants to see action.' The actor added, 'My film always releases at a time when it's completely ill-timed. When my comedy film comes out, action films are working. So I am constantly stressed that I don't know right now everyone wants to see action. The last 12 films have been action and blockbusters. So while I believe that it's a very heartwarming and beautiful story which will connect very deeply with people, that's what I am hoping. But right now, everyone wants to see action films.' Has Ivanka Trump distanced herself from MAGA? Her recent action 'subtly shading' father Donald Trump sparks buzz

Ivanka Trump recently shared a photograph on social media platform Instagram promoting a book written by a vocal critic of her father, President Donald Trump , sparking buzz online. She appeared to distance herself even further from the MAGA movement after promoting a book written by an author who actively campaigned against her father during the 2024 election cycle. The President's eldest daughter posted a shot of 'Untamed' Glennon Doyle's 2020 memoir , amongst a collection of photographs documenting the highlights of her week, according to The Independent. The post appeared on Ivanka's Instagram story. The novel's synopsis says, 'It is the story of navigating divorce, forming a new blended family, and discovering that the brokenness or wholeness of a family depends not on its structure but on each member's ability to bring her full self to the table.' Live Events The book topped the New York Times bestseller list, but that wasn't what truly captured her fans' attention. The author has been an outspoken critic of the President and even publicly endorsed Kamala Harris during his presidential campaign last fall. When the former Vice President replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee last summer, she expressed support for Harris—while also taking a subtle jab at the sitting President. 'Winning this election to save America' On Instagram, she said, 'Winning this election to save America from fascism will be hard. WE CAN DO HARD THINGS. AND WE WILL. No more fear. We gotta BELIEVE and we gotta WORK. CHINS UP SHOULDERS BACK: Let's effing go." "Listen at link to our incredible conversation with the future POTUS @KamalaHarris about her vision for America, Roe v. Untamed is Doyle's memoir, described on Amazon as a story about how she "learned that a responsible mother is not one who slowly dies for her children, but one who shows them how to fully live. It is the story of navigating divorce, forming a new blended family, and discovering that the brokenness or wholeness of a family depends not on its structure but on each member's ability to bring her full self to the table." A few weeks before the results of the election was announced, she also said, 'If Trump wins, we lose, out daughters will have fewer rights than our mothers.' Her dislike for the President extends for the past decade, even when he was running for President for the first time in 2016. A month before that election, she took to Facebook with another strong message, stating, 'I am an American woman and I am appalled and furious that people I know and respect might vote into the presidency a man who brags about sexual assault. Go ahead, list the excuses for this. There are none.' 'There's a hell of a lot of misogyny surfacing right now and silence about it is a CHOICE,' she continued. 'If you are a woman or love a woman Speak Up Now before it's too late.'

Aamir Khan's infamous creative clashes: Before replacing 'Taare Zameen Par' director, Aamir fell out with this iconic '90s filmmaker

Agencies Bollywood actor Aamir Khan earned the reputation of being a 'perfectionist' early in his journey, but that title also brought its share of backlash — with several critics alleging that he secretly took control behind the camera, often overshadowing the official directors. Aamir Khan has long carried the tag of a 'perfectionist'—a title earned early in his Bollywood career. Though it complimented his dedication, it also attracted significant criticism. Some within the industry began accusing him of covertly directing films under the guise of supporting roles, overshadowing official directors. While Aamir has dismissed such allegations in conversations with the media, recent remarks by Darsheel Safary have reignited this debate. Darsheel, who played the lead role in Taare Zameen Par, recently opened up about how the film's directorial duties shifted unexpectedly. According to him, Aamir made the bold decision to re-film a major scene, despite original creative director and writer Amole Gupte being actively present on set. Aamir, who had previously not been attached as the director, asked everyone to disregard what had just been shot and announced that he would now helm the scene. Though Amole remained on set in a creative capacity, the reins of direction quietly passed to Aamir. Darsheel recalled that Gupte had worked on set for only a few days before Aamir gradually assumed full directorial responsibilities. Describing his early experience, Darsheel admitted feeling intimidated by Aamir, whereas his rapport with Amole was far more relaxed and friendly. The two shared a close bond—Gupte had even discovered Darsheel at a dance workshop—and their sons were also close friends. Darsheel added that during the filming process, Aamir and Amole often exchanged creative opinions, with Aamir frequently offering his insights and an interview with Galatta Plus, Aamir expressed frustration over persistent rumors accusing him of hijacking films from other directors. He explained that many assumed he was unofficially leading productions whenever a film failed after his departure, creating a pattern of speculation that became difficult to shake. He maintained that the actual directors were the ones making the final decisions, and his own involvement was often misrepresented. Aamir will soon return to the screen in Sitaare Zameen Par, a follow-up to Taare Zameen Par, slated for release on June 20. While he previously portrayed a compassionate teacher, this time he takes on the role of a basketball coach. Aamir's clashes with filmmakers have not been limited to one project. In a fan interaction on Rediff, he addressed his strained relationship with Rangeela director Ram Gopal Varma. Their fallout began years ago when Varma made a comment suggesting a minor actor outshone Aamir in a particular scene. This remark, misunderstood by the media, led to unresolved tensions due to lack of timely clarification. Hurt by the miscommunication, Aamir chose to distance himself from Varma moving forward.
