Gasoline pump prices up, diesel and kerosene down Tuesday, May 27, 2025
Pump prices of gasoline will be hiked for the second straight week on Tuesday, while those of diesel and kerosene will be rolled back.
In separate advisories, Seaoil Philippines Corp. and Shell Pilipinas Corp. said they will hike prices per liter of gasoline by P0.10, while rolling back those of diesel by P0.20, and kerosene by P0.40.
Cleanfuel and Petro Gazz will implement the same changes, excluding kerosene which they do not carry.
The adjustments will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, for all the firms except for Cleanfuel which will implement the changes at 8:01 a.m. the same day.
Other firms have yet to make similar announcements for the week.
The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) earlier projected mixed movements this week, citing reports of progress toward a US-Iran nuclear deal, cooling trade tensions between the US and China, the additional crude oil storage capacity in Iran's Export Terminal, and optimism on global oil demand.
Fuel retailers last week hiked prices per liter of gasoline and kerosene by P1.20 each, and diesel by P1.70. — RSJ, GMA Intgerated News

40 PH companies in Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list
Forty companies from the Philippines were included in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list for 2025, which ranks the 500 biggest companies in the region based on their revenues, at the average exchange rate during the year. According to Fortune, the latest list shows a snapshot of a region that it described as 'ready to take advantage' of shifts in the global supply chain, and booming industries such as mining, electric vehicles, and artificial intelligence. This year's list was topped for the second straight year by Singapore-headquartered Trafigura Group with $243.201 billion. It was followed by Thailand's PTT with $87.635 billion, Indonesia's Pertamina with $75.327 billion, and Singapore-based Wilmar International with $67.379 billion, and Olam Group with $42.028 billion. Revenue and profit figures for the companies reporting in their local currency were converted to US dollars at the average exchange rate during each company's fiscal year, with the minimum revenue threshold set at $349.4 million. The collective companies on the 2025 list recorded $1.82 trillion in revenue in 2024, higher than the $1.79 trillion in 2023. 'Together, the Southeast Asia 500 companies are playing an increasingly important role in global supply chains — capturing manufacturing capacity from shifting from China, which is drawing significant capital flows and reshaping global trade dynamics,' Fortune said. Below is a list of the Philippine companies included in the list: — RSJ, GMA Integrated News

Marcos to DOE: Closely monitor Middle East tension as fuel prices expected to hike
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has tasked the Department of Energy (DOE) to strictly monitor the tension in the Middle East as this is expected to affect fuel prices. ''I-monitor pong mabuti kung anong sitwasyon para po makapagbigay ng agaran ding solusyon at kahit papaano po ayuda kung talaga pong sobrang tataas ang presyo ng krudo,'' Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said in a Tuesday briefing when asked about the President's directive to the DOE. (Closely monitor the situation so that they can provide immediate solution and to provide aid if the prices of oil will really increase.) Castro also mentioned that DOE officer-in-charge Sharon Garin had told her that the agency is monitoring the situation there. The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) earlier projected pump price hikes this week, citing gains on positive US-China trade signals, the stall in nuclear negotiations between US and Iran, and the expected oil demand growth in the next two and a half decades. Motorists will have to pay more for petroleum products this week, as retailers on Monday announced major upward adjustments to mark the fifth straight week of increases for gasoline, third for diesel, and second for kerosene. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
