The tournament was launched at Hampden by Cammy Bell, a former Scotland, Rangers, and Kilmarnock goalkeeper, and now a Wheatley Group development project officer.
He was joined by ex-Celtic and Republic of Ireland player Pat Bonner.
Mr Bell said: "I'm delighted to lend my support to the Refugee World Cup Scotland tournament and look forward to witnessing the positive impact it has had and will continue to have on the lives of those it touches.
"Football is a great way to bring communities together, to build friendships and communities, and I'm sure this tournament will help new Scots to integrate into Scottish life."
Councillor Abdul Bostani, managing director of Glasgow Afghan United FC, and organiser of the tournament, said: "The Refugee World Cup Scotland is, above all, a celebration of football and community.
"But it's also a powerful reminder of our shared humanity.
"This tournament is an invitation to see refugees not as statistics, but as individuals.
"It's about fostering empathy, understanding, and inclusion, values that have long defined Scotland and the UK as welcoming nations."
Steven Henderson, chief executive at Wheatley Group, said: "This is an important event that celebrates the diversity of communities in Scotland through football while supporting the rights of refugees.
"We are committed to supporting community initiatives like this, and I encourage everyone to mark their calendars and come along on the day to support this event."

Celtic vs Falkirk: Premier Sports Cup action returns to Parkhead as Rodgers aims to continue perfect start
SCOTT BAIN was in the Celtic dugout the last time these two teams clashed in the competition 11 months ago - at the quarter-final stage. But this week the former Celtic goalkeeper could take on his old team-mates at his old shooting ground at Parkhead - in the Premier Sports Cup last 16. 2 Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers Credit: PA 2 Falkirk boss John McGlynn Credit: Kenny Ramsay Celtic host John McGlynn's side in their first domestic cup fixture after receiving a bye to miss the group stage and progress straight to the knockout round. Both sides faced off at the same stadium last September, but Falkirk were in the Championship at that point. Now this is set to be the first of at least four meetings between the two sides after the Bairns won the second tier last season. The last meeting of course ended in a victory for Celts as Brendan Rodgers' men went on to lift the trophy following a penalty shootout win over Rangers at Hampden in December. But while the quarter-final meeting ended in a 5-2 win for the Hoops, it wasn't quite as comfortable as the scoreline suggests. It was actually Falkirk who raced in front TWICE in that tie, having initially taken the lead through Ross MacIver after 11 minutes. Finn Yeats then ensured they held onto their lead at half-time with a stoppage time goal after Paulo Bernardo's equaliser. A brace from Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah in the second half guaranteed the win, though, and the first half scares were quickly forgotten about. But can McGlynn's side stun the Hoops again and get the job done come full-time on Friday? SunSport has all the details ahead of the cup cracker. The match kicks off at 7.45pm UK time. It will be held at Celtic Park. What TV channel is Celtic vs Falkirk on and can I live stream it? Celtic vs Falkirk is live on Premier Sports 1. Coverage begins at 7.15pm - half an hour before kick off. To stream the game live, head to the Premeir Sports website or app. BBC Scotland will have live radio commentary for the game. Alternatively, you can follow all the action right here via SunSport's LIVE blog. Team news Jota remains the only long-term absentee for Celtic which sees Rodgers having a full squad aside from him at his disposal for this game. Kieran Tierney will be available for selection despite the manager revealing he was SICK at half-time of the 2-0 win against Pittodrie. There could be a place in the matchday squad for the first time for new signing Jahmai Simpson-Pusey after he was left out against Aberdeen. Shin Yamada could make his first start after looking promising off the bench in the second half in the Granite City. Falkirk, meanwhile, will likely be without star man Ethan Ross after he suffered a nasty ankle injury against Livingston. Other players expected to be missing for the Bairns include Finn Yeats, Tom Lang, Coll Donaldson and Barney Stewart. Ketel Marte's late homer propels Diamondbacks to series win over Rangers
August 13 - Ketel Marte ripped a two-out, three-run home run in the ninth inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied to stun the Texas Rangers 6-4 on Wednesday in the finale of a three-game series in Arlington, Texas. Marte's home run off Phil Maton (2-4) was his fourth hit of the game and drove in Blaze Alexander (who was hit by a pitch) and Geraldo Perdomo, who had walked. James McCann began the rally with a two-out solo home run as the Diamondbacks scored four runs with two outs in the final frame to capture their second straight series. It was Marte's second game-winning homer in as many nights. He homered in the ninth on Tuesday as well to lift Arizona to a 3-2 comeback win. John Curtiss (2-0) pitched the eighth for the Diamondbacks and Andrew Saalfrank retired all three batters he faced in the ninth to earn his first career save. Texas dropped the final two games of this set and finished its nine-game homestand with just three victories. Jake Burger had a two-run home run among his two hits while Evan Carter also had two of the Rangers' seven hits. Texas jumped to the lead in its first at bat when Carter, who was activated from the 10-day injured list just prior to the game, singled home Josh Smith after he opened the frame with a single. The Diamondbacks answered in the third with a two-out rally as Perdomo walked and stole second base before Marte drove him in with a single to left field that tied the game at 1-1. Carter was also a huge part of the Rangers' next uprising, beginning the fourth with a double and then trotting home in front of Burger after the latter smashed his two-run homer. Arizona trimmed its deficit to 3-2 in the fifth on a Perdomo solo home run to right center field. The Diamondbacks pushed to tie the game in the inning as Marte and Corbin Carroll singled, but Marte was thrown out at home on Adrian Del Castillo's single to right to end the inning. After that, the Diamondbacks did not have a hit and had just one baserunner until McCann homered with two outs in the ninth to cut the Texas lead to one run. That opened the floodgates and led to Arizona's stunning win. -Field Level Media

Panutche Camara hoping Dundee Utd lightning strikes twice against Rapid Vienna as he eyes up Euro play-off spot
The Tangerines are gearing up for a mega night at Tannadice on Thursday in their Conference League qualifier Panutche Camara is hell-bent on making history by firing Dundee United past Rapid to the brink of the Conference League group stage. United sit 2-2 after their first leg heroics in the Allianz Stadium in Vienna last week. They know a home win on Thursday in front of a sell-out crowd at Tannadice would be enough to take them into the play-off round, where the winners of AIK Stockholm and Gyor await the victors. United famously saw off Rapid in the quarter-finals of the 1984 European Cup and will be looking for lightning to strike twice. Camara said: 'Yeah, I think everyone has a chance to make a story for this big club tomorrow if we win. I think the game is going to be important. "I think it's one step for us. If we win that game, I think we're going to go to the group stage, 100 per cent. 'We're so excited about tomorrow and we are so ready. We have prepared for the game very well and we're going to fight. 'I believe in our squad. It's a good group. We were very, very young and everyone has ambition but in a good way.' Camara is well aware that it's winner takes all and the Tangerine Army can play its part. He said: 'I think it's going to be nice [a sell-out]. 'Even in the away game, we saw that and tomorrow it's going to be massive. Now, we're going to face the game like we faced the first leg. "Yeah, I think we're going to play very well and we've got more confidence now. 'They're (Rapid Vienna) going to come here to our stadium. We expect it to be a really, really good game. 'I think it's going to be a good experience for all of us players because if you go through, it's going to be a massive journey in our career. I've never played in Europe. 'I came here to play in Europe then I'm going to give everything on Thursday night.' The 28-year-old has been a big player for Jim Goodwin as he has looked to bring more power and pace into his squad. Camara said: Yeah, I think that's my big strength in football. 'I can run all day, no problem for me. I can run 12km every week, it's no problem.' Camara has played both games in the wins over UNA Strassen and then the draw in Vienna last week. Some people were surprised by that result but not anyone in the United dressing room. The player said: 'No, because we know what we're going to do. We know what the gaffer asked us to do and then we did it. 'They think because in the press conference they said they looked like a physical team, or Scottish football is physical. 'But we played. I think we're good on the ball.' Camara came up from Crawley Town in the summer. United were able to sign him after a relegation clause was triggered. The midfielder admitted he had other English options but the chance to play in European football for the first time was a massive lure. He said: 'I had a couple of clubs interested in England but I wanted a new challenge. 'When I was invited to come in to Dundee United, I didn't think too much. I spoke to the manager and then I said, I want to go there. 'I didn't know the Scottish Premier League but when I came in to training I saw it's different to what I had heard before. 'Before they talked about physical stuff but it's a really tough league. Some clubs play really, really good football.' The Guinea-Bissau international has international experience and was also in their squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, where he played against the likes of Mo Salah's Egypt. The former Ipswich Town player believes that will stand him in good stead. He said: 'Yeah, it's given me some good experience. 'I've played internationally, in England as well. I've played for quite a big team, Premier League team, Championship team. 'I think the level to Rapid is quite similar.' Max Watters is fit but United are without Ross Graham, Kristijan Trapanovski, Ryan Strain, Isaac Pappoe and Dario Namoo. New signing Julius Eskesen is not eligible but would be available if United were to progress into the Europa League play-off round.
