Chapman's 3 RBIs, Doyle's 11 Ks help host Tennessee beat Miami (Ohio) 9-2 at regional
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Reese Chapman had three RBIs, including a solo home run, Liam Doyle recorded 11 strikeouts and top-seeded Tennessee beat Miami (Ohio) 9-2 on Friday night at the Knoxville Regional.
No. 14 national seed and regional host Tennessee (44-16) plays third-seeded Cincinnati on Saturday. No. 4 seed Miami (35-22) takes on Wake Forest in a loser-out game.

Doyle (10-3) gave up a run on four hits with three walks over 6 2/3 innings.
Dean Curley drew a bases-loaded walk in the third inning and Chapman followed with a sacrifice fly that drove in Andrew Fisher to make it 3-1.
Fisher, Hunter Ensley and Dalton Bargo hit back-to-back-to-back RBI singles to spark a five-run fourth before Cannon Peebles led off the fifth with a double and scored on a single by Gavin Kilen to make it 9-1.
Chapman hit a solo shot to open the scoring in the second but Dillon Baker led off the third with a double and scored on a two-out double by David Novak to make it 1-1.
Evan Appelwick capped the scoring with a lead-off homer in the ninth.
Cooper Katskee (11-2) gave up seven runs — five earned — on six hits with four walks over 3 1/3 innings.

Second baseman Lenyn Sosa tossed to first baseman Miguel Vargas and Mayo collided with Sosa — appearing to try to draw an interference call — and fell as he was heading to second. Vargas tagged Mayo out, but Sosa took exception to Mayo's shove. The two were talking when Mayo picked up his helmet from the ground and then pushed Sosa in the left shoulder as he was walking away. That sent players from both teams onto the field, where there was a little pushing and shoving before order was quickly restored without incident. In the fifth, Mateo followed Dylan Carlson's one-out double by lofting a fly over the fence in center for his first homer since last June 21. Andrew Benintendi hit an RBI single in the fifth off Kremer and Mike Tauchman drove in the White Sox's other run with a single off Yennier Cano in the seventh. Kremer allowed six hits and struck out seven. He improved to 2-0 with a 1.02 ERA in three career starts against the White Sox. Martin gave up four runs in six innings. He struck out six. Bautista struck out Luis Robert Jr. and Austin Slater to escape a two-on, one-out jam in the ninth. Bautista earned saves on consecutive days for the first time since July 22-23, 2023. The right-hander missed all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in October 2023. Chicago RHP Adrian Houser (1-0, 0.00 ERA), who has thrown 12 scoreless innings since signing with the White Sox on May 20, starts the series finale against Baltimore RHP Charlie Morton (1-7, 7.09).

2 fans died and an officer is in a coma after Champions League celebrations in France
PARIS (AP) — Two fans died and a police officer is in a coma after mass nationwide celebrations for Paris Saint-Germain's historic Champions League victory, European soccer's biggest prize, French authorities said Sunday. A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the city of Dax during a PSG street party after Saturday night's final in Munich, the national police service said. A man was killed in Paris when his scooter was hit by a car during PSG celebrations, the interior minister's office said. The circumstances of both are being investigated. A police officer was hit accidentally by fireworks in Coutance in northwest France and placed in an artificial coma because of grave eye injuries, the national police service said. Hundreds of people were arrested in the celebrations, which were largely peaceful but degenerated into violence in some areas. The team is expected to return to a big parade on the Champs-Elysees on Sunday after clinching its first Champions League title, a 5-0 win over Inter Milan. At the top of the Champs-Élysées avenue, a water cannon was used to protect the Place de l'Étoile, near the landmark Arc de Triomphe. Police said a large crowd not watching the match tried to push through a barrier to make contact with police. By 2 a.m. Sunday, a total of 294 arrests had been made, including 30 people who broke into a shoe shop on the Champs-Élysées. Two cars were set alight close to Parc des Princes, police added. At the Place de la Bastille, there were joyous scenes as fans climbed onto the base of the famous column, singing, dancing and letting off flares, while those around joined in. Piastri and Norris to start Spanish GP from front row with Verstappen right behind
MONTMELO, Spain (AP) — Oscar Piastri will start the Spanish Grand Prix from pole position ahead of McLaren teammate Lando Norris on Sunday with the papaya-colored cars poised to continue their early dominance of the Formula 1 season. Defending F1 champion Max Verstappen will start from third and will be hard pressed to extend his winning streak at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to a fourth win in a row. Piastri leads Norris by three points at the top of the points standings after they won six of the eight races so far this year. Verstappen, who has won the other two races this year, is 25 points off Piastri's lead in his Red Bull. Mercedes' George Russell and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton will start fourth and fifth. Piastri won from pole position in China and Bahrain, while he also pipped a pole-sitting Verstappen to win in Saudi Arabia and Miami.
