Coronation Street legend tells shocking cancer lie as his colleague reels

Metro7 hours ago
Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) has had a tough time of it recently on Coronation Street as he's been going through gruelling treatment following a cancer diagnosis at the start of the year.
Chemotherapy sessions have left him weak and tired, and he's also had the emotional stress of learning about his sister's Debbie (Sue Devaney)'s own diagnosis of dementia.
Luckily our Kev has the support of his loyal wife Abi (Sally Carman) and his loving brother Carl (Jonathan Howard). But recently Kevin has found out that Carl is harbouring romantic feelings for Abi – and that she's trying her best to deny that she feels the same.
Kevin recently rumbled what was going on after he saw a message from Carl on Abi's phone saying he'd like to get to know her better. Abi subsequently warned Carl off and then told Kevin that Carl was responsible for some sloppy workmanship in the garage.
When Kevin saw on CCTV that Abi had tampered with the car Carl was working on, he accused them of having an affair. Abi denied it, but said she was annoyed by Carl's texts, laying all the blame on him. But then Kevin saw Abi hugging his brother after she told him she felt bad for lying to Kevin – and obviously that set him thinking.
In upcoming episodes, Kevin heads to a hospital appointment to find out whether his cancer treatment has been successful. Nervously, he goes into the consultant's office, braced for whatever news might come next.
Meanwhile, Abi is angry when she gets back from a callout to find Carl in the garage with his feet up. He reiterates that he can't stop thinking about her and he's convinced she feels the same, but she insists that it's Kevin she loves and she's happy with her life.
Back in the Street, Kevin tells Carl that he's been given the all-clear and the cancer has gone. However, this is not what he's told Abi. She tells Carl that Kevin has told her he's going to need another round of chemo.

When Kevin strains his groin playing football with Jack (Kyran Bowes), Abi is concerned and tells him he needs to tell his family the truth. He tells Debbie and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that, unfortunately, the cancer didn't respond to the treatment he's had so far and he needs to have more chemo. More Trending
It's not long before he has a change of heart, and explains to Tyrone that his previous account was a lie. The chemo has worked and he's now cancer-free.
Tyrone is obviously stunned that Kevin would do something as shocking and hurtful as telling his family that he's still seriously unwell.

You deserve every bit of happiness and success." Through the production group Brothers in Rhythym, Steve has worked with artists including Kylie Minogue and Westlife. As for Shona, the actress first announced her decision to leave EastEnders back in 2023. Speaking exclusively to The Sun on Sunday, Shona said: 'I have decided to spread my wings and will be leaving EastEnders. I have loved my years in the show. 'Worst ever exit' say EastEnders fans as Whitney Dean quits Walford for good 'I have been trusted with some incredible storylines and have made amazing friendships — and family — which will endure.' Whitney's final storylines built towards her wedding with fiancé Zack Hudson. It saw her adoptive mother - and show legend - Bianca Jackson make a comeback to the Square. However, Whitney was left devastated upon learning Zack cheated on her on her wedding day and furiously called the whole thing off. She told Zack: 'It's OK that you didn't love me enough. Maybe I didn't love you enough either, because if I did then maybe I wouldn't have lied to you about Britney? 'I feel that love for Peach, we both do. But do you think maybe that love and that pain kept us together for longer than it should have. 'It gave us Dolly though and I'll never regret the time we had together but it's over.' After cutting ties with Bianca - who'd kept quiet about Zack's infidelity Whitney left alongside Britney and Dolly for a new life in Wakefield. While she got a prestigious Julia's Theme send-off, viewers weren't too pleased with Whitney's exit. One wrote: "#EastEnders this is possibly up there with the worst ending especially for Whitney. I wish her and Jay got together had a baby and left the square happily ever after.' Most complained about soap storylines Over the years, all three of the main soaps have featured plots that have had even die-hard fans reaching for their phones and laptops so they can get in touch with Ofcom and complain. Here are just some of the most scandalous... EastEnders baby theft: 13,400 Ofcom complaints - Back in 2011, EastEnders was flooded with complaints when Ronnie Branning (RIP) swapped her baby for the dead son of Kat Moon. The storyline drew the most number of objections in the soap's long history and saw it roundly criticised by campaigners - with 13,400 flying in over the course of the storyline. Some viewers called it 'distressing' and 'horrific' but Ofcom ruled the scenes were not "unduly disturbing'. Emmerdale dog-napping: 550 Ofcom complaints - Back in 2016, Ross Barton and Charity Dingle came up with a plan to steal a dog and hold it ransom - but viewers didn't like it one bit. The nation's pet owners rose up, insisting the storyline would encourage copycats (not to mention copydogs). Complaints over two episodes totalled a staggering 550 and soap writers quickly learnt you don't mess with animal-lovers. Coronation Street double murder: 546 Ofcom complaints - Marginally less people complained about a gruesome double murder than objected to a dog-napping plot when Pat Phelan was at the centre of a spate of killings. First he forced Andy Carver to shoot dead Vinny Ashford - and then Pat killed Andy. All the bloodshed back in 2017 proved to be too much for some viewers, who lodged complaints in vast numbers about the 'violent scenes'. Another added: 'Shona McGarty's final episode might quite possibly be one of the worst episodes I've ever endured. That's exactly what it felt like. I had to endure it. "I never wanna hear the names Whitney, Britney or Peach & the phrase 'what's best for my daughters Zack' ever again. #Eastenders' A third remarked: "Worst exit story ever, Whitney deserved better after all the trauma they put her through on this show. Logging out until Christmas, what a disappointment #Eastenders." EastEnders airs on BBC One and iPlayer.

Death fears as two Emmerdale legends are rushed to hospital after collapse

There's horror in the village as two youngsters are rushed to A&E after a collapse behind the wheel in Emmerdale. Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) is desperate to look her best at her engagement do and her quest for the perfect bod will put both her and Sarah Sugden's (Katie Hill) lives in danger. Gabby's car isn't working so kind-hearted fiancé Vinny (Bradley Johnson) takes it for fixing at the garage while Gabby is busy prepping for their upcoming engagement shindig – she's on a crash diet to fit in a dress she accidentally ordered in the wrong size. By crash diet this means Gabby is eating absolutely nothing and drinking buckets of coffee in the hopes of flushing out her system and dropping that dress size. 'She's drinking a hell of a lot of coffee as per Bradley Riches' character, Lewis, he recommends coffee to kind of get things moving,' actress Rosie Bentham tells Metro. 'So she's drinking a hell of a lot of coffee, doing lots and lots of exercise. Filling her time with that and neglecting any mothering duties she's got and just putting exercise to the front of her mind.' It's a dangerous game that will come back to bite her – and Sarah. When she learns her car still isn't ready because Kammy hasn't bothered to fix it, the hanger hits. Having necked her coffee, she sets about getting the car fixed herself. More Trending Sarah offers to take her for a diagnostic drive, not realising she's putting her life in an increasingly weakening Gabby's hands. While on their drive Gabby's crash diet suddenly catches up with her and she passes out behind the wheel. Terror sets in as Sarah – still delicate from her surgery – is forced to dive across and grab the wheel to save their lives. She manages to bring the car to a stop, but at the expense of her own health. 'Thankfully there's no crash,' Rosie reveals, 'but Sarah really injures herself so that creates a lot more complications for her.'
