Decisive battle launched against Naxals in Chhattisgarh

Bastar (Chhattisgarh) [India], April 25 (ANI): Security forces on Friday launched a decisive fight against the Naxal cadre in insurgency-hit Bijapur Chhattisgarh by mobilising a strong posse of around 10,000 security personnel to the top of Karegutta hill and nearby dense forest areas.
Following precise intelligence inputs about the presence of top Naxal leaders, including most wanted Naxal commanders like Hidma, Damodar, Deva, and others security forces from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Telangana have been mobilised to cordon off the forest and Karegutta hill in Bijapur, close to the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border, according to police sources.
Around 10,000 security personnel from Chhattisgarh's DRG, Bastar Fighter, STF, Cobra, CRPF, Greyhound from Telangana and Maharashtra's C-60 are participating in the biggest ever anti-Naxal operation in the history of India, added the source.
Terming the operation as 'very crucial', the source said that it would result in finishing off the military strength of the CPI (Maoists) PLGA Battalion-1. Additionally, the Naxals' think tank--Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee and Telangana State Committee are also under target.
During the search carried out on the first day of an ongoing operation, security personnel recovered the bodies of three slain cadres along with weapons.
'Search at the rough terrain of the encounter spot hints that many more naxals might have been killed and injured in the exchange of fire,' the source claimed, adding that an extensive search of the area is ongoing.
The source told ANI that the situation is like a test match; the game would last a long time, and every session may not yield very exciting news.
'We are hopeful of a very favourable result at the end of this match,' said the source.
All stakeholders of the central government, the government of Chhattisgarh and neighbouring states are directly or indirectly involved in this crucial mission, he added.
Apart from IEDs and fire from the Naxals' side, the hot climate conditions and rough terrain are posing a serious challenge to the jawans in this battle, said the source, claiming that the troops' morale is high to deal with any challenge.
As the cadres of the banned outlawed organisation have planted large numbers of IEDs in the area, security personnel are also carrying out de-mining exercises to avert any untoward incident that may involve jawans and civilians, he informed.
Reiterating their commitment to weed out armed Naxalism from Chhattisgarh by March 26, 2026, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai have stated repeatedly that bullets will be answered with bullets.
Meanwhile, the ministers were frequently seen exhorting naxal cadres to shun the path of violence and join the mainstream of society, stating that the government don't want to fire a single bullet.
Since December 3, 2023, after the formation of the BJP government in Chhattisgarh, security forces have gunned down 365 cadres in separate encounters and arrested 1382 Naxals. Moreover, impressed by the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the Chhattisgarh government, 2306 cadres have quit the red movement to join the mainstream of society.
So far in 2025, 144 naxals have been neutralised, 367 arrested, and 476 surrendered. (ANI)

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 15 (ANI): Congress MP Pramod Tiwari on Sunday said that at a time when the country was coming to terms with the deadly Air India plane crash that left over 240 dead, another incident of a chopper crash has happened in Uttarakhand in which seven people lost their lives on board. He also noted that the rail incidents are 'increasing' and flight accidents are 'deeply hurting' us. The veteran Congress leader asked a few questions, including the carrying capacity of the helicopter at the time of the incident on Sunday morning. Tiwari told ANI, '... But there are a few questions -- rail accidents are increasing, and flight accidents are deeply hurting us. We are still trying to cope with the Ahmedabad plane crash. Earlier this morning, seven people, including the pilot on board a helicopter were killed after the chopper crashed near the forested area of Gaurikund in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said. The Aryan Aviation Helicopter was flying to Guptkashi from the Kedarnath Dham when it crashed at 5:30 am today. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a virtual high-level meeting with senior officials from the CM residence after the helicopter crash. Following the incident, the Chief Minister informed that the Helicopter services will not run for the next two days. The deceased have been identified as Captain Rajbir Singh Chauhan (39), resident of Jaipur, Vikram Rawat (47) a Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee representative and resident of Rasi, Vinod Devi (66), resident of Uttar Pradesh, Trishti Singh (19), resident of Uttar Pradesh, Rajkumar Suresh Jaiswal (41), resident of Gujarat, Shraddha Rajkumar Jaiswal and Kashi (2), resident of Maharashtra. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched under the direction of SDRF Commander Arpan Yadav. The incident spot was located in a very inaccessible and dense forest area, where a fast-paced and coordinated rescue operation was carried out by the joint teams of SDRF, NDRF, and local police. Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 15 (ANI): Union Consumer Affairs and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday said that India has achieved 51.5 GW wind energy capacity, 150 per cent growth in a decade and is now exporting turbines and components globally. He said this progress reflects the 'visionary leadership' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has made 'clean energy a core pillar of #AatmanirbharBharat.' 'India has achieved 51.5 GW wind capacity, 150% growth in a decade and is now exporting turbines and components globally. We are moving steadily towards the 100 GW wind target by 2030, including 30 GW from offshore projects, backed by strong policy reforms and a robust manufacturing ecosystem,' Joshi said in a post on X, on the occasion of Global Wind Day today. In another post on X, he said, 'On this Global Wind Day, let's celebrate the power of wind driving India's clean energy growth. With 51.5 GW capacity and rising, we are moving towards an #AatmanirbharBharat powered by innovation, green technology and sustainable progress. #GlobalWindDay.' He said that India is the fourth-largest wind power capacity in the world, while it is the third-largest renewable energy producer. Addressing the Global Wind Day celebrations in Bengaluru, the Minister also India is going to become the 'manufacturing hub of the world.' 'India is going to become the manufacturing hub of the world, and we will be competing with many of our neighbours, including Vietnam and China. So when we want to compete there, the basic thing we need is power. So in this power, we need renewable energy and conventional energy also, but we need more renewable power,' Joshi said. Highlighting policy changes, the Union Minister stated that renewable energy, especially solar energy, was just 0.242 gigawatts in 2014, and today the country has the capability of 110 gigawatts of renewable energy in just 10 years. 'Of course, policy changes were made by the government. In 2014, our renewable energy, especially in solar, was just 0.242 gigawatts. Today, we have 110 gigawatts of renewable energy in just 10 years. Like that, it was some 21, 22 gigawatts of wind power. Today we are 51 gigawatts. But you are the people who are sitting in front of me, and because of the policies of the government, because of the encouragement from the government, with the cooperation of the state and Centre, we have been able to achieve 51 gigawatts today,' he said. Joshi said that the government approved the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme for offshore wind energy projects at a total outlay of Rs 7,453 crore, including an outlay of Rs 6,853 crore for installation and commissioning of 1 GW of offshore wind energy projects (500 MW each off the coast of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu) The Minister added that this year's renewable energy budget has gone up by 53 per cent to 26,549 crore, with the large share directed to the wind. Inviting states to contribute to the energy transition, the Minister asserted, 'States must lead this transition, land availability, transition delays, transmission delays, and how to be addressed very, very expeditiously. This is not the time for hesitation; it is the time for the execution.' The Minister said that the government is backing the sector, which was demonstrated in this year's union budget. (ANI)
