SESs O3b mPOWER receives Platinum Space Sustainability rating
Evaluation conducted through a comprehensive analysis of over 65 parameters covering the deployment, operations, and end-of-life disposal phases of the O3b mPOWER mission.
O3b mPOWER, SESs second-generation medium earth orbit (MEO) system, has been awarded the Platinum badge by the Space Sustainability Rating (SSR) Association. This is the highest possible SSR rating tier, and has been awarded to the O3b mPOWER constellation of 13 high-throughput and low-latency satellites, eight of which are already in orbit.
The O3b mPOWER mission was assessed across all phases: deployment, operations, and end-of-life disposal. The Platinum rating for O3b mPOWER was based on an in-depth analysis of more than 65 parameters, including: satellite count, orbital region, collision avoidance strategies, adherence to recognised design and operational standards, and SESs overall approach to data sharing and transparency. SES is the second operator to receive a Platinum rating from the SSR, and the sixth to be officially rated.
Rather than evaluating individual satellites in isolation, the SSR assesses the aggregate sustainability impact of the entire constellation and considers how satellites interact, operate collectively, and contribute to the broader space environment. This recognition indicates that the O3b mPOWER constellation demonstrates minimal impact on the orbital environment beyond what is necessary for mission success and reflects SESs strong commitment to sustainable space operations and adherence to internationally accepted best practices in space sustainability.

ALPA reviews academic cooperation with University of Sharjah
The association's delegation was headed by Dr. Aisha Al Ghais, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, and included Dr. Jamal Yousef Al Zarouni, Secretary, and Professor Mohammed Shuaib Al Hammadi, Financial and Administrative Director. They were received from the University of Sharjah by Dr. Maryam Balajid, Head of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, and lecturer Hamda Al Awadhi from the same department. Promoting the use of the Arabic language in academic and community activities The meeting, held Tuesday addressed a number of key topics related to the status of the Arabic language in academic fields. Discussions centred on ways to expand cooperation between the two sides, particularly with regard to initiatives targeting students and researchers, and opening new horizons for promoting the use of the Arabic language in academic and community activities. ELIA discusses cooperation with the Royal Library in Rabat
During the visit, topics related to manuscripts and printed books were discussed, and the history of book libraries and their role in preserving cultural heritage were reviewed. Manuscript restoration The delegation also learned about the work mechanisms followed in the Restoration Department, where they were shown manual and automated book and manuscript binding and restoration methods. The tour also included a visit to the Digitisation Department, where the delegation learned about manuscript digitisation systems and methods for digitally preserving manuscripts to ensure the sustainability of this cultural heritage for future generations. Supporting research In addition, the delegation visited the Research Services Department, where they were briefed on the efforts made to support researchers specialising in the scientific investigation of manuscripts. At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation received a collection of recent publications from the Royal Library, which shed light on various aspects of Arab-Islamic heritage. Enhancing mutual cooperation and exchange expertise Fahad Al Maamari expressed his happiness with the visit, saying that ELIA was honoured to visit one of the most prominent cultural institutions in the Arab world. He explained that the Association discussed with the library's management ways to enhance mutual cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of restoration, digitisation, and research services. This visit represents an important step toward achieving the Association's goals of developing library and knowledge work regionally and internationally.
