Inmates Reunite for Eid
TDT | Manama • Eid reunites inmates, families • Children's area set up • Northern Governorate contributes Families of inmates embraced a rare moment of warmth and connection during Eid Al Adha inside Bahrain's Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre, as part of a new initiative designed to strengthen family bonds and humanise the experience of rehabilitation. Launched by the General Directorate of Reformation and Rehabilitation, the 'Eid Gathering' initiative gave inmates the opportunity to spend meaningful time with their loved ones in a specially prepared setting that included prayer spaces, visiting areas, and shared meals. Family-first approach The event offered more than just visitation. It created an environment of celebration and dignity. Dedicated corners were set up for children, while hospitality services were provided to ensure families felt welcomed and respected during their time together. Community support Gifts were distributed to families in a gesture that reflected shared responsibility between state institutions. The Northern Governorate contributed to the effort, reinforcing the principle of community partnership in the field of rehabilitation. The initiative, officials noted, aligns with national goals to foster social stability by focusing not just on confinement, but on rebuilding lives through human contact, dignity, and family connection. According to officials, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote psychological and emotional well-being among inmates, which is seen as critical to their successful reintegration into society once released. Lasting impact As Eid greetings were exchanged and children laughed in specially designed corners, the mood behind bars was markedly different. The centre briefly became a space of belonging, hope, and renewed relationships.
