Egypt Praises France's Planned Recognition of Palestine as a Historic Milestone
Tamim Khallaf, spokesperson for Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the significance of the upcoming international conference in support of the Palestinian cause, particularly in light of French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement of his intent to officially recognize the State of Palestine.
In a phone interview with 'Extra News' TV channel, Khallaf described France's declaration as a historic event and a turning point in global efforts to establish a Palestinian state on the ground.
He added that France's expected recognition, scheduled to take place during the United Nations General Assembly in September, would provide fresh momentum for the growing international recognition of Palestine.
He noted that several European countries, including Spain, Ireland, Norway, and Slovenia, had already formally recognized the State of Palestine in May of last year.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also stressed that Egyptian diplomacy remains highly active in this regard, continuing its efforts to rally international support to enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and establish their independent state.

US to Host Sudan Quartet Meeting Wednesday to Push for Political Settlement
Washington will host a high-level meeting of the Sudan Quartet on Wednesday, as international efforts intensify to end the protracted war that has devastated Sudan since 2023. The meeting will bring together the foreign ministers of the United States, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates—four key countries engaged in mediating a peaceful resolution to the conflict. According to diplomatic sources who spoke to local media outlets, the meeting aims to forge a common vision for ending the war, securing a comprehensive ceasefire, and laying the groundwork for a credible political process involving all Sudanese stakeholders. The talks will also focus on ending foreign interference and mitigating the wider regional fallout of the ongoing crisis. The same sources firmly denied recent speculation about the potential expansion of the Quartet to include other countries such as Qatar or the United Kingdom. They stressed that any changes to the group's composition would require prior agreement among current members and emphasized that the Quartet's priority remains focused, effective engagement among the four core states most directly involved in the Sudan file. A joint communiqué is expected after the meeting, outlining the Quartet's unified stance on key issues: achieving a lasting cessation of hostilities, initiating an inclusive political dialogue, halting external involvement in Sudanese affairs, facilitating humanitarian access, and affirming support for Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and institutional integrity. Egypt, Italy discuss securing ceasefire in Gaza, Libya - Foreign Affairs
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed key regional developments in a phone call on Sunday with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, focusing on reaching a ceasefire in Libya and the Gaza Strip, as well as concerns related to the Horn of Africa and Egypt's water security. According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers asserted the need for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya as a critical step toward restoring stability. They also stressed the importance of dismantling militias and the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya, describing this as the only viable path to ensuring long-term peace and preventing irregular migration across the Mediterranean. Additionally, FM Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's intensive diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid to starving Palestinians to alleviate their suffering amid Israel's ongoing genocidal war. Furthermore, both sides exchanged views on the escalating tensions in the Horn of Africa. FM Abdelatty also highlighted Egypt's concerns regarding the Nile River and water security, reiterating Cairo's position on the need for adherence to international law governing shared water resources. He stressed the importance of cooperation based on consensus and mutual benefit to safeguard the interests of all Nile Basin countries. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's rejection of unilateral actions that violate international law in the Eastern Nile Basin. Egypt Launches Train Service to Support Sudanese Voluntary Repatriation
H-Tayea Egypt has launched a dedicated train service to support the voluntary return of Sudanese citizens currently residing in the country. The train will depart from Ramses Station in Cairo, heading to Aswan, where further arrangements will be made to assist Sudanese nationals returning home.
