MSU football completes flip from Rutgers, gets commitment from legacy LB Adam Shaw
Michigan State football has successfully completed the flip of Spartans legacy linebacker Adam Shaw from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Shaw announced his commitment to Michigan State on Tuesday morning, completing the flip from the Scarlet Knights. Shaw initially committed to Rutgers earlier in June following his official visit there, but then last week reopened his recruitment and elected to take an official visit to Michigan State -- which led to his commitment to the Spartans on Tuesday.
Shaw is a three-star linebacker in the 2026 class, and holds a recruiting rating of 88 on 247Sports. He is ranked as the No. 47 linebacker and No. 16 player from New Jersey in the class, according to 247Sports.
Shaw has strong ties to Michigan State as a double-legacy recruit for the Spartans. His father, Scott Shaw, was an All-American offensive lineman at Michigan State in 1997, and his mother Angela (DiJames) Shaw was a star field hockey player for the Spartans.
Michigan State has been on a recent heater on the recruiting trail, with Shaw becoming the 18th commit for the Spartans and third in the last 24 hours. The Spartans' surge in recruiting has raised them into the top 25 nationally in team rankings on both 247Sports and Rivals.

On the field, Wilson is highly versatile and could play cornerback at the next level, but he should thrive as a box safety against the run due to his on-ball instincts and ability to make plays in the middle of the field. Alabama women's basketball SEC opponents revealed for 2025-26 season Following an announcement from the conference Tuesday morning, the 2025-26 SEC opponents are now officially set for the Alabama Crimson Tide women's basketball team. According to the announcement, Alabama will play eight different home-and-away games next season in SEC play, one of which is a home-and-home. That opponent will be 2024-25 national runner-up, South Carolina. In addition to the Gamecocks, Alabama's 2025-26 home opponents are Arkansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas, and Oklahoma. The Crimson Tide will travel to Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Texas A&M. At the moment, the date and start times for each game are not set, as well as TV schedule. Led by head coach Kristy Curry, Alabama is coming off a 24-9 overall season in which the Crimson Tide made their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, falling in the second round. Notre Dame named in two Top 10 non-conference best matchups for 2025 The 2025 college football season is inching closer and closer, and there are a slew of juicy non-conference matchups on tap. One of those clashes includes Notre Dame hosting Texas A&M, the back end of a home-and-home series that began last year. It's clearly a notable matchup, and ESPN analyst Greg McElroy named it No. 5 on his Top 10 list of non-conference games this fall. "Coach Mike Elko enters into the second year," McElroy said on his Always College Football podcast. "They get everybody back on the offensive line. The offense in general should be excellent. And their quarterback Marcel Reed should be a lot more advanced than he was last year. He didn't even play against Notre Dame in Week 1. So, now, that should be an incredible matchup when the Aggies head to South Bend there in the middle of September." Last season, Marcus Freeman's squad scored a 23-13 win in College Station, a game that featured the Irish leaning on their rushing attack. They compiled 198 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, with Jeremiyah Love leading the way with 91 yards and a score. Meanwhile, the Aggies had just 100 passing yards in the loss, though adding playmakers at receiver was a priority this offseason. So this should be a different Aggies offense in the rematch. The Irish have the fourth-best nonconference game, as well, according to McElroy. ND opens the season at Miami, a team McElroy is high on. Mario Cristobal has the Hurricanes set up to contend for the ACC title with the likes of Clemson. "Miami has restocked and reloaded," McElroy said. "Carson Beck is now their starting quarterback. They have great personnel on both lines of scrimmage. Mario Cristobal has a legitimate ACC title contender again this year. At least one of the top two teams in the ACC."
