Arab Ministers Hold Israel Fully Accountable for Gaza Genocide
During the Joint Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit on developments in Gaza, the ministers accused Israel of causing unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe through its ongoing war in the Palestinian enclave.
'We hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the ongoing genocide and the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe taking place in the Gaza Strip,' read the statement.
The committee urged the international community — specifically the permanent members of the Security Council — to act urgently and put an end to Israel's illegal aggressive policies.
Moreover, it called for the 'immediate and comprehensive cessation of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, and an end to the ongoing violations committed by the occupying forces against civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.'
As for the delivery of humanitarian aids, the committee also demanded unconditional access to Gaza.
'The demand that Israel, as the occupying power, immediately and unconditionally allow the entry of humanitarian assistance at scale into the Gaza Strip — including food, medicine, and fuel — and ensure the freedom of operation of relief agencies and international humanitarian organizations, in accordance with international humanitarian law and its applicable principles.' the statement read.
Crucially, the summit underscored the urgent need to start implementing the Arab-Islamic plan for reconstructing the Gaza Strip. Similarly, it urged active participation in the upcoming Gaza Reconstruction Conference in Cairo.

Netanyahu Vows to 'Complete the Job' against Hamas
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Israel has no choice but to "complete the job" and defeat Hamas, given the Palestinian group's refusal to lay down its arms. Netnayahu also told a news conference that his new Gaza offensive plans aim to tackle two remaining Hamas strongholds. He said Israel 'has no choice but to finish the job and complete the defeat of Hamas.' According to the AP news, he was speaking to foreign media in Jerusalem and defending a planned military offensive. He asserts that 'our goal is not to occupy Gaza, our goal is to free Gaza.' He is also pushing back against what he calls a 'global campaign of lies' as condemnation of the plan grows both inside and outside Israel. Netanyahu said there is a 'fairly short timetable' in mind for next steps in Gaza. The goals there, he said, include demilitarizing Gaza, the Israeli military having 'overriding security control' there and a non-Israeli civilian administration in charge. The prime minister also said he had directed Israel's military in recent days to 'bring in more foreign journalists' — which would be a striking development as they have not been allowed into Gaza beyond military embeds. Netanyahu again blamed many of Gaza's problems on the Hamas militant group, including civilian deaths, destruction and shortages of aid.

Israel's Gaza plan risks ‘another calamity,' UN official warns
A UN official on Sunday warned the Security Council that Israel's plans to occupy Gaza City risked 'another calamity' with far-reaching consequences, as Benjamin Netanyahu insisted his goal was not to occupy the territory. The United Nations Security Council held a rare emergency weekend meeting after Israel said its military would 'take control' of Gaza City in a plan approved by Prime Minister Netanyahu's security cabinet that sparked a wave of global criticism. 'If these plans are implemented, they will likely trigger another calamity in Gaza, reverberating across the region and causing further forced displacement, killings, and destruction,' UN Assistant Secretary General Miroslav Jenca told the Security Council. The UN's humanitarian office OCHA said 98 children had died from acute malnutrition since the start of the conflict in October 2023, with 37 of those deaths since July, according to Gaza's authorities. 'This is no longer a looming hunger crisis – this is starvation, pure and simple,' said OCHA's coordination director Ramesh Rajasingham. Palestinian ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour said Sunday 'over two million victims are enduring unbearable agony,' calling Israel's plans for Gaza City 'illegal and immoral,' and for foreign journalists to be allowed into Gaza. Netanyahu announced on Sunday a plan to allow more foreign journalists to report inside Gaza – accompanied by the Israeli military. Sanctions calls Britain, a close ally of Israel which nonetheless pushed for an emergency meeting on the crisis, warned the Israeli plan risked prolonging the conflict. 'It will only deepen the suffering of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. This is not a path to resolution. It is a path to more bloodshed,' said British deputy ambassador to the UN James Kariuki. But Netanyahu said Sunday his country was 'talking in terms of a fairly short timetable because we want to bring the war to an end,' as he insisted Israel did not want to occupy Gaza. Outside the meeting at UN headquarters in New York, a small but noisy protest calling for an end to the conflict was met by a large police presence. The United States, a veto-wielding permanent member of the Security Council, accused those nations who supported Sunday's meeting of 'actively prolonging the war by spreading lies about Israel.' 'Israel has a right to decide what is necessary for its security and what measure measures are appropriate to end the threat posed by Hamas,' said US envoy to the UN Dorothy Shea. Israel's deputy ambassador to the UN Jonathan Miller said 'pressure should not be placed on Israel, who suffered the most horrific attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, but on Hamas.' Algeria's ambassador Amar Bendjama called for sanctions on Israel in response to its Gaza City plan. 'The hour has come to impose sanctions on the enemy of humanity,' he said. 'If it was another country, you would have been imposing sanctions a long time ago,' the Palestinian envoy Mansour said.

Australia Criticized Over Continued Export of Weapons Parts to Israel
The Australian Greens condemned the Labor government of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for continuing to export components to Israel used to make weapons, according to Arab News. 'The Australian public knows that the Albanese government is permitting the export of armored steel, F-35 weapons parts and other critical materials to Israel and wants it to stop,' the Australian Greens Foreign Affairs spokesperson, David Shoebridge, said. The remarks came after Australia's Defense Minister Richard Marles said that his country did not send weapons to Israel. However, the government would continue to manufacture and export parts for the Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jet, which is used by the Israeli military. Germany's Unprecedented Step Marles's statement came after Germany made a bold stride of stopping exports of military equipment to Israel after Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his government would expand operations in Gaza. 'Australia is a key part of the F-35 fighter jet program. We are the only place in the world that makes parts like the bomb bay doors (mechanism), and we operate as one of the few regional distribution hubs,' Shoebridge said. Moreover, he noted that withholding F-35 component exports would limit Israel's ability to conduct operations in Gaza. 'The fact Albanese is choosing not to do that makes us complicit (in genocide),' Shoebridge added. Crucially, Albanese has previously noted that Australia already imposes appropriate sanctions on numerous Israeli government officials over their actions in the Gaza war. 'What we need to do here is to have very clear statements and actions by the Australian government that make a difference, rather than respond to a slogan on a protest,' Albanese said during a visit to New Zealand.
